CETTE SÉRIE... Elle fait partie d'un projet en cours intitulé "Awful Drawings". Son objectif est de faire sourire en distillant de l'humour absurde à l'aide de dessins graphiquement simples. TES SOURCES D'INSPIRATION ? Tout ce que je vois, entends, sens, goûte ou touche peut, si je prends le temps, m’aider à trouver des idées. Je suis persuadé que ce ne sont pas les choses en elles-mêmes qui nous inspirent comme par magie, tout comme je ne crois pas que l’on trouve une idée en attendant qu’elle se présente à awful-drawings.com
nous. Au contraire, c’est nous qui décidons de rendre une chose inspirante ou non. Dès lors que l'on fait abstraction de la vitesse qui nous entoure et que l'on accepte d’être dans l’instant présent, nous pouvons nous trouver dans un état réel d'éveil et envisager le monde avec un oeil naïf dénué de jugement. TES projets ? Continuer ces "Awful Drawings", trouver un éditeur pour qu'ils existent en livre et battre mon chien au scrabble. Ce dernier projet est de loin le plus difficile des trois.
This Series... This series is part of an ongoing project entitled “Awful Drawings”. The goal is to make people laugh by distilling absurd humor through simple drawings. Your sources of inspiration ? Everything that I see, hear, smell, taste, or touch can help me come up with ideas, if I take the time. I’m convinced that things themselves don’t magically inspire us, and I don’t believe that you can just wait around and expect a good idea to come to you. Rather, we are the ones who decide whether
or not to make something inspiring. Once we can disconnect from all of the hustle and bustle that surrounds us and accept to live in the present moment, we can arrive at a genuine, awakened state of mind and see the world through a fresh set of eyes, stripped of judgment. Your projects ? To continue these "Awful Drawings", find an editor so they can exist in book form, and beat my dog in Scrabble. That last one is by far the most difficult of the three.

interview TON UNIVERS... Je me définis comme un Homme d'image. J'évolue aussi bien dans le domaine de l'illustration, du graphisme, de la photographie et la vidéo. TES projets ? Faire évoluer mon dessin. Dans les propositions que je vous ai fait parvenir, j'ai joint 2 nouveaux travaux : "white line" qui est désormais mon nouveau trait avec "Gaspard & Xavier" mais aussi "Rock". Changer de supports je souhaite réaliser des toiles et des fresques avec mon trait.
YOUR UNIVERSE... I define myself as a man of image. My work focuses on illustration, graphic design, photography, as well as video recording. I like creating characters and narration in a picture. CETTE SÉRIE... Cette série a été réalisée au cours de plusieurs voyages à Potosi, Bolivie, principalement dans 3 des quelques 500 mines qui transpercent encore le Cerro Rico (Mina Robertito Compotosi, Mina Negra, Mina San Juan). TES SOURCES D'INSPIRATION ? Je souhaitais mettre l'accent sur les mineurs, ces forçats du sous-sol qui travaillent toujours dans ce qui fût la plus grande mine du monde, dans des conditions dignes d'un autre âge. Pour cela j'ai pris ces portraits in situ, à l'endroit même où les mineurs travaillaient quand je les ai rencontrés, et à la seule lueur de la lampe frontale. http://loic.venance.free.fr
TES projets ? Ce travail a fait l'objet de la sortie du livre MINEROS (préfacé par Bernard Noël, YpsilonEditeur octobre 2010) qui allie portraits couleur et photos noir et blanc. Cette série est actuellement exposée au Cinéma des Cinéastes à Paris. Actuellement je travaille sur une vision fantasmatique de la forêt landaise, 3 ans après la tempête Klaus qui a considérablement abîmé la plus grande forêt d'Europe.
THIS SERIES... This series was made while travelling in Potosi, Bolivia, mainly in 3 of the 500 mines of the Cerco Rico (Mina Robertito Compotosi, Mina Negra, Mina San Juan). YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION ? I wanted to emphasize the minors, these underground convicts who are still working in outdated conditions in what was the biggest mine in the world. To do so, I took these portraits in situ, exactly where they were working when I first met them, with a headlamp as only light.
YOUR PROJECTS ? This work has been published in (preface written by Bernard Noël, Ypsilon Editions, Octobre 2010) and both contains black and white and colored pictures. This series is currently exhibited at the Cinéma des Cinéastes, in Paris. I am currently working on a fantastical vision of the forest of the Landes, 3 years after the Klaus storm which strongly damaged the biggest European forest.

UN RÊVE QUI DEVIENT RÉALITÉ... Il y a une dizaine d’années quand la Cité de Dieux, était un des quartiers les plus violents de Rio de Janeiro, Tony Barros, alors éducateur social, décide de valoriser son quartier en photographiant la « beleza » de deux jeunes filles, Ludmilla et Gisèle, en utilisant la communauté comme fond d’image. En 2002, il crée Lente Dos sonhos, une petite école de mannequins qui entraîne chaque semaine les jeunes de son quartier. Commencent alors les "success stories" de quelques mannequins qui travailleront pour les meilleures agences européennes. Aujourd’hui, Lente dos Sonhos fait défiler les jeunes filles de toutes les favelas de Rio.

About ten years ago, when the Cidade de Deus was one of the most violent neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro, Tony Barro, then a social educator, decided to show the value of his neighborhood by photographing the beleza (“beauty”) of two young girls, Ludmilla and Gisèle, using the community as a background for the photos. In 2002, he founded Lente Dos Sonhos, a small modeling school for training young people from his neighborhood every week. Then came a few success stories of models who went on to work for some of the top European modeling agencies. Today, Lente Dos Sonhos trains young girls from all of Rio’s favelas.
your sources of inspiration ? Photography allows Tony to personalize his objec-
tives with respect to the social crisis. He blends his photojournalistic work with fashion photography and finds that in photographing the reality of such a violent daily life, he creates hope by identifying the beauty in everyone. Lente dos Sonhos (”Lens of Dreams”) honors Tony’s philosophy, that of the photographer who never stops diffusing light.
your projects ? The tireless work of Tony and Nadine, president of the ModaFusion Association, will lead them back to Europe, where they have been invited to wow London with an exhibition of photographs and videos at the end of June, all centered around those angels from the favela. A vernissage that could knock Her Majesty’s socks off…

Cette sÉrie… Fisiognòmica est une série de portraits obtenus en combinant 6 photos différentes d’un même visage. Chacune des 6 photos à ses propres perspectives, lumières et torsions qui contribuent à changer les traits et la perception de la physionomie, spécialement pour la personne concernée.

Tes projets ? Actuellement je suis sur un projet photo sur la fierté italienne, pour le 150e anniversaire de l’unification italienne, mais ma priorité actuelle est ma remise de diplôme prochaine en graphisme.
THIS SERIES... Fisiognòmica is a serie of portraits obtained by combining six different photographs of the same face. Each of the six shots has its own perspective, lighting and distortions that contributes to alter the facial traits and the perception of the physiognomy, especially for the person concerned. YOUR INSPIRATION ? My main influences are Sally mann with her evocative portrait on wet plate collodion, and above all Maurizio Galimberti with his polaroid mosaic-portraits.
YOUR projeCTs ? Currently I'm working on a photographic project about the italian pride in the 150th anniversary of Italian unification, but at the moment my priority is the forthcoming graduation in graphic design.

TON UNIVERS... Je suis fan de l’équipe de football de Botafogo et Carioca. Je suis né en 1981 à Rio de Janeiro, dans le quartier de Tijuca. J’ai grandi près de Maracana en faisant du skateboard. J’ai commencé à montrer mes talents à mes amis dans la rue Gazibo peinte en vert et jaune pour la Coupe du Monde. RODOLPH RADUEL INTERVIEW
CETTE SÉRIE... Je suis quelqu’un de très simple, j’aime passer du temps avec mes proches. Ils m’inspirent beaucoup : j’écoute leurs joies, leurs humeurs… Mon écriture s’appuie d’ailleurs sur leurs expériences et leurs feelings. J’essaie d’en extraire un message positif, comme autant de tranches de vie qu’on peut prendre du bon côté.
TES SOURCES D'INSPIRATION ? Outre l’humain, j’ai mes artistes phares, qui ont petit à petit donné à ma musique sa couleur d’aujourd’hui. La scène reggae tient une place importante, avec des gens comme Ernest Ranglin, Jah Mason, Ken Boothe… http://deal-m.com/
HE mais j’écoute aussi beaucoup de soul : Esthern Phillips, Otis sont parmi mes préférés. Toutefois on se forge sur un tout, et je suis curieux de nature. Je laisse aussi la place à la salsa, à la bossa… TES projets ? Je vais entamer une série de concerts au printemps prochain, en attendant l'album "Garde ton Smile" qui sort en Septembre. De nouvelles collaborations sont aussi prévues cette année : je suis notamment rentré dans la famille Bim Bam Orchestra, un groupe de Funk-Afrobeat composé de 12 musiciens.
THIS SERIES... I’m a very simple man, i like spending time with my friends and family. They inspire me so much. I listen to their joys, moods... My writing is based on their experiences and feelings.
