LIFE IN HOOD CETTE SÉRIE... Les petites villes perdent leur personnalité, les gens quittent les régions rurales, et rien ne semble pouvoir endiguer cela. Me sentant attristé et impuissant face à des changements si rapides, j'ai pris cette série de photo dans l'urgence. TES SOURCES D'INSPIRATION ? Yoshiharu Tsuge (un artiste de mangas), Sidney Poitier (un acteur), Yasuo Kazuki (un artiste), et les gens du village de mon enfance.

TES PROJETS ? Je suis allé à Kiri Kiri, la zone frappée par le tsunami à Iwate, à deux reprises depuis le tremblement de terre et j'ai cuisiné des nouilles Udon avec mes amis pour les gens. Nous nous sommes promis de poursuivre cette activité chaque année aussi longtemps que nous le pourrons. Je tiens également à continuer de photographier ce lieu et ces gens de mon vivant.
THIS SERIES... Local cities are losing their personalities, people are leaving rural villages, and there seems to be no way to stop it. Feeling upset and helpless about such rapid changes, I took this series of photos like mad. YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION ? Yoshiharu Tsuge (manga artist), Sidney Poitier (actor), Yasuo Kazuki (artist), and people of my village in my childhood days.
YOU PROJECTS ? I visited Kiri Kiri, the tsunami stricken area in Iwate, twice since the earthquake and cooked Udon noodles with my friends for people. We promised to continue this activity every year as long as we can. I would also like to keep photographing the place and people during my lifetime.

Je joue aussi des instruments de musique et suis aussi assez investi dans la musique. YOUR UNIVERSE... I am a painter, writer and illustrator. I have published books and many articles. These days I concentrate on visual art. I also play musical instruments and am quite involved with music. I have been taking art seriously (but not, I hope, TOO seriously), drawing and painting since I was about thirteen. That's over fifty years these days... YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION ? I like to draw from nature as often as I can. I am also very influenced by literature and the pictorial possibilities it suggests to me. I study other artists constantly-- from Titian to Robert Fawcett-- from Ensor, Kirchner and Bonnard to

My inspiration source is life. I can be inspired by as little as laying in the grass somewhere in Upstate, NY or sitting on my kitchen floor armed with a brush.
YOU PROJECTS ? I want to let my brush travel from the sketchbook to the wall. I want to let my ink spill onto the canvas. I’d like to go back to teaching, illustrate books, do etching.

YOUR UNIVERSE... … is the subconscious. That´s were my pictures come from. The colourful juice, tea and coffee splotches bring them to life. YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION ? The way I work is based on the psychology of human perception - like seeing faces in clouds. I elaborate my own interpretation of weird looking characters and sceneries that my imagination “detects” in coincidental blurs of juice, tea and coffee.

YOUR UNIVERSE... Markets, fairs, parties of the sertao of Alagolas, and these neighborhoods strictly reserved for trinkets wholesale in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo. YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION ? The simultaneous of the Brazilian baroque art and the popular northeastern art has opened a very rich pictural experimentation field, full of forms and materials, and was the start of a plastic production which was already influenced by my Mediterranean origins. On the other hand, a great number of Brazilian artists work through a powerful « colorism » ; that’s why my work is so influenced by colors.
YOU PROJECTS ? My paintings which already have an object status through the materials, miscellaneous elements and carried pieces it contains.
