Ces photographies sont les traces de ces instants où j’ai ressenti « une présence par l’absence ». Silencieuse, souvent lumineuse.

Cette « présence », je ne me l’explique pas.

J’aime la sentir. J’aime l’entrevoir. Et tenter un dialogue avec elle.

TES SOURCES D'INSPIRATION ?

Je me nourris de phrases lues et entendues.

Intérieurement je porte des mots qui me bouleversent. Ils résonnent tellement fort que je tente de les exprimer par une image ou une série… Inlassablement. www.photographe-cath-an.com

Continuer à partager ces mots, ces émotions à travers d’autres photographies. Toujours laisser disponible mon regard pour qu’il s’étonne sur notre monde. These photos mark the times when I felt “a presence by way of an absence.” Silent, often bright. I don’t try to explain this presence. I like to feel it. I like to catch glimpses of it.

And try to converse with it.

YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION ?

I am inspired by sentences that I read and hear. I carry within me the words that I find the most deeply moving. They resonate so strongly that I try to express them through an image or series of images…tirelessly.

YOUR PROJECTS ?

To continue to share these words, these emotions through new photos. To always be observant, so that I can be amazed by our world. As for the rest, the horizon of possibilities is open. And this horizon brings me projects in the form of exhibitions, commissions, and artistic collaboration.

J’aime bien savoir comment fonctionnent les choses ; c’est comme si je découvrais des secrets. Et les baisers, les touchers, les sourires… même si je les rate.

Terminer des œuvres pour une exposition en Hongrie en juillet. Ensuite je vais continuer à faire des collages aquarelles. Il y a aussi des motifs de tapis qui restent à tisser.

All that I admire, like the intelligence of the creeper plants; the solid qualities of the stones, which if you break, million years of memories open to the light; the cycles of life, that feels like an ever repeating

mantra. I love to know how things work, it's like getting to know secrets. And the kisses, touches, smiles... even when I miss them.

Cette série est un reportage issu d'un webdocumentaire que j'ai réalisé au Burkina Faso. Elle montre le quotidien d'un photographe Ouagalais, Germain Kiemtoré, et nous plonge dans l'univers kitsch de son studio.

This series is a report, a piece of a web documentary I directed in Burkina Faso.

Elle présente Pressburg (Bratislava, capitale de la Slovaquie). Cette ville est aussi importante pour les slovaques que pour les hongrois pour des raisons historiques et culturelles. Cette coexistence est perceptible non seulement entre ces deux populations, mais aussi à travers l’héritage culturel et architectural de la ville. My series presents Pressburg (Bratislava, capital of Slovakia). The city which is important for both Slovaks and Hungarians because of its historical and cultural reasons. Where the co-existence is perceptible not only between these two folks but also through the architectural and cultural heritage of this city. The inseparable mixture of past, recent past and present creates an interesting and familiar but also odd and sometimes sad view of this cityscape.

Je m'intéresse au paysage dans sa "limite", sa frange, là où l'espace devient indécis et incertain ; un territoire à l'allure parfois encore vierge et dont la représentation passe par le voyage, la quête du lieu, de la lumière et de la couleur. Il s'agit d'offrir une contemplation méditative et de proposer l'arrière plan d'un imaginaire plutôt que son récit. Les images présentées sont extraites de mes séries "Iceland", "Jokulsa" et "Noordzee".

I am interested in landscape as a "limit", her fringe, where space becomes indecisive and uncertain, a territory who sometimes looks pristine and whose representation is through the journey, the quest of the place, of the color and the light. It's offering a meditative contemplation and offer the backdrop to his imaginary rather than his story. The images presented are from my series "Iceland", "Jokulsa" and "Noordzee".

Cette série a été réalisée en 2011 lors de la Frich'ti organisée par les étudiants de l'école d'architecture de Lille. Ce terrain étant occupé par des familles roms depuis quelques temps, une association d'étudiant s'est créée pour leur venir en aide. Pratiquant la musique rom à Marseille (http://soundcloud.com/gadjerom), nous avons été invités pour faire un concert avec les roms. Ce fut l'occasion pour moi de découvrir la beauté et la fierté de ce peuple, et la passion des enfants roms pour la photo - je leur ai confié mon appareil pour qu'ils réalisent eux-mêmes certains portraits. This series was done in 2011, during the « Frich'ti » party organised by the students of Lille's architecture school. The terrain was occupied by Romany families for a long time, so a student organisation was created to help them. As we play Romany music in Marseille (http://soundcloud.com/gadjerom), we had been invited to perform a concert with Romany people. It was the opportunity for me to discover the beauty and the pride in these people, and the passion Romany children have for photography – I lent them my camera so that they could shoot some portraits themselves. It was a strong, true moment of sharing.

Parmi ceux qui m'ont influencé, j'apprécie particulièrement les mentors qui m'ont beaucoup encouragé. Il est difficile d'être un artiste dans ma société, donc c'est vraiment important de garder la foi et de se consacrer à ses intérêts. En ce qui concerne les arts, la modélisation de Chagall et la coloration de Degas m'ont fasciné.

Les choses qui m'inspirent sont dans ma vie quotidienne, les gens, et les animaux.

En plus de faire des illustrations, j'espère aussi publier plus de livres d'images, et de collaborer avec mes amis pour transformer mes illustrations en produits.

Among those who have influenced me, I especially appreciate the mentors who have encouraged me so much. It is difficult to be an artist in my society, so it's really important to keep ones faith and devote oneself to one's interests. With regard to the arts, Chagall’s modeling and Degas’s coloring has fascinated me.

YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION ?

What have been inspiring me are my daily life, people, and animals. Even the most negligible matters have their significance.

Everything is a story. Specifically speaking, the relationship between human beings and animals has brought me a lot of reflection.

My way of expression is to visualize the inner and subtle relationships among ordinary things.

YOUR PROJECTS ?

Besides making illustrations, I also hope to publish more picture books, and cooperate with my friends to turn my illustrations into products.
