Lake Spanaway Learn to Golf Program This year round Learn to Golf Program will guide juniors through the introduction of the game, learning skills necessary to enjoy the game for a lifetime or compete at any level. Juniors new to the program but not new to the game do not need to start at the beginner level to benefit from this program. Contact the Golf Professionals at Lake Spanaway (253) 531-3660 and schedule a skills test to determine their position in the program. The skills test to pass into a level is universal. Class is structured for fundamentals, proper technique, rules of the game, and much more. Each level will teach the skills necessary for using each club in both full swing and short game settings. Upon completion of the Beginner Level 3, juniors will be ready to advance to Intermediate levels.

FootGolf is a combination of golf and soccer! The game is played very similar to golf but with a regulation #5 soccer ball instead of clubs, the holes are shortened and the goal is to kick the ball into 21-inch diameter cups using the least amount of kicks as possible. Golf Pierce County in Western Washington is your home for public golf. Our golf courses offer a variety of settings for every taste and style. From tree-lined courses to open green spaces and smooth rolling greens overlooking the Puget Sound, our golf courses are the most diverse in Washington. Whether seeking a quick round in the peaceful setting at our 9-hole course at Fort Steilacoom or wanting to tackle championship courses like Lake Spanaway, site of the Puget Sound Amateur since 1967 or Chambers Bay, site of the 2010 U.S. Amateur and 2015 U.S. Open Championships, Pierce County has something for every skill and challenge level.

Discover pure links golf while immersing yourself in panoramic views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. As the site of the 2010 U.S. Amateur and the 2015 U.S. Open, Chambers Bay was designed to challenge the greatest players in the world. Yet it’s a course that anyone can play.

Chambers Bay is a championship course that anyone can play. With towering sand dunes, massive fairways and contoured greens, it provides a true connection to the birthplace of the game. A par 72, walking-only course, Chambers Bay stretches from 5,100 to 7,585 yards on fescue turf from tee to green.

Inspired by the open landscape and spectacular location, renowned architect Robert Trent Jones II remained true to links tradition by creating a unique and authentic waterfront course which provides a premium public golf experience. As the first course in the Pacific Northwest to earn the Audubon Society’s coveted International Silver Signature Sanctuary designation, Chambers Bay is creating a new tradition of managing and protecting water quality and wildlife habitat for the betterment of the environment and the future of the game.

Experienced, knowledgeable caddies are available to carry your bag and lower your score with their advice. A practice facility offers players the chance to improve their skills at the driving range and short game area. A staff of PGA Professionals is available for instruction and private lessons. For green fees, call the Golf Shop at (253)460-4653 or visit www. chambersbaygolf.com. Tee times are taken 90 days in advance .

Registration can be done in person at Sprinker Recreation Center, by phone with a Visa or Mastercard 253-798-4000 or online.

As a member of ISI, students receive an ISI membership card, quarterly magazine, secondary insurance and nationally registered skills tests. Allow 4-6 weeks from session start date for membership benefits to become effective (i.e. secondary medical coverage).

Class enrollment is limited and determined on a first come first served basis. Sprinker prefers to limit enrollment to 12 students per class (9 for PreSkate 1 classes) whenever possible. Similar class levels may be combined to avoid canceling classes with low attendance.

As students progress the various levels, they have the opportunity to experience local, district and national competitions available to skaters of all ages, starting with the beginner’s basic Alpha test and ranging upward to the highest tests. These competitions are non-qualifying events. Emphasis is placed on participation and enjoyment. ISI and Sprinker are dedicated to providing quality recreational ice skating programs for the community.
