A Letter from Our Founder I was raised by my parents and a tribe of aunts. Five of them, to be exact. One of my aunts taught me what it meant to cry while standing in front of a Matisse painting; how to savor just one bite of crème brûlée; and that a work of art could be just as moving as the beautiful Guadalupe river flowing through her backyard. Her house, filled with carefully curated treasures, has always been one of my favorite retreats—so I was thrilled to feature this special place as the backdrop for our Spring Lookbook. I believe that we all begin our lives as artists. Ultimately, we are meant to create—from paintings, to businesses, to technology, to fresh cookies. But somewhere along the way, we lose the part of ourselves that knows it. We start believing that art is only for some people, rather than for all of us. But the truth is, art calls us into who we were meant to be. When we come face to face with beauty, something in us stirs—and reminds us of who we really are. Our team at Noonday Collection takes great pride in elevating the art of makers across the globe. Not only are our Artisan Partners creating beautiful wearable art—they are boldly using that art to create opportunity for themselves, their families, and their communities. As you explore these pages, I hope you will find yourself captured by the beauty of our Artisan-made styles. But I also hope you will be reminded of the artist and maker that you were made to be.

Portrait of the Artisans To create the perfect paper beads, our Ugandan Artisan Partners hand mix each dye color and check every bead for quality. Their work is where art and precision meet—a careful cut here, a touch more blue there—to create consistently beautiful accessories. In 2016, Noonday committed over $60,000 to support social programs in Uganda, including scholarships and daycare for children of Artisans.

Ethiopia • Upcycled Artillery To create these unique beads, Ethiopian Artisans melt down artillery shells left over from former conflicts. Then, women emerging from vulnerable situations string the beads into elegant accessories.
Afghanistan • Traditional Embroidery Embroidery has been a cherished tradition among Afghan women for generations. Each piece takes hours to make due to the incredible detail and love stitched into every accessory.

In Haiti, finding reliable materials can be difficult. Our Partners utilize local resources like metallic oil drums to create our styles— transforming unneeded items into vibrant accessories.
In Nepal, special fabrics called “dhaka” have long been used to make traditional men’s hats. Today, our Artisan Partners use these unique textiles to create authentic and stylish bags.
Our Ecuadorian accessories are crafted using sustainably harvested local seeds like pambil, acai, and tagua. The Artisans cut, polish, and dye the seeds to make unique, sustainable jewelry.

To make our glass bead accessories, Guatemalan Artisans create their own bead looms using nails and planks of wood. The women enjoy gathering together to string the beads by hand.
Our Partners in Uganda are experts at transforming sheets of paper into works of art. They cut, dye, and roll each bead by hand to create an assortment of vibrant colors and styles.
In rural Vietnam, water buffalo and farmers have long had a symbiotic relationship. To honor these important animals, Artisans carve their horns into accessories that capture the beauty of tradition.
