Celebrating Our Roots A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER
Ten years ago, I opened my Austin home for what I thought was a one-time fundraiser. My husband and I were in the process of bringing our third child into our home via adoption, but needed extra funds to complete the process. Some friends of mine living in Uganda had donated beautiful accessories made by talented artisans for me to sell, in hopes that this partnership could bear fruit for both of us. What I didn’t know then is that the lessons I would learn from gathering friends in my living room on that balmy Austin evening would change my life forever.
Lessons like:
• Asking for help isn’t embarrassing. It’s bolstering. • When we show up, it inspires other women to show up, too—and together, we can change the world. • We can use our purchasing power for good. • We can make fear our friend. I was scared that night that no one was going to come. I was afraid nothing would sell. I almost let fear keep me seated—but I am so glad I didn’t. Because today, that one-time fundraiser has grown into the world’s largest fair trade accessories brand; Jalia and Daniel, the Ugandan couple who made those first pieces, own a flourishing business; and our son Jack is safely and forever in our family. As Noonday Collection celebrates a decade of impact this year, my thoughts turn back to that first night in my living room and to the multitude of living room moments I have had since then, surrounded by women who understand that when one of us succeeds, we all succeed. This collection is a celebration of the original Austin women who showed up for me—and the thousands of women around the world who show up for each other every single day. Whether you’re new to Noonday or have been a part of our story since our Austin founding, thank you for coming along for the journey. Here’s to our next decade of changing the world together!

Mosmeen comes from a small
conservative community a few
hours north of Delhi. She used to
remain confined in her home
every day. She believed she had no voice, and felt completely

It’s a tragic reality that around the world, parents are forced to place their children for adoption because they cannot afford to care for them. But your purchases support dignified jobs that impact over 20,400 family members, including children. These jobs ensure that parents can keep their families together and provide safe and loving homes for their children. Our primary focus is on family preservation—but for children who are in need of forever families, we donate 10% of all Adoption Trunk Show sales to help families who are adopting bring their children home. By gathering their communities at Adoption Trunk Shows, women like you have enabled us to donate over $810,000 to support 4,200 adopting families.

In the community where our
Artisan Partners live and work
in Uganda, shared celebrations
are part of the very fabric of the culture. But poverty prevents
many people from being able to celebrate meaningful mo-
ments in the way they would like to. For the Artisans who create Noonday's styles,
however, that has changed. The sustainable incomes they earn allow them to not just
support basic needs for their children, but to invest in the things that make childhood a joy. For Mama Sham, that
means being able to afford to throw her grandson his
very first birthday party. Last
summer, Mama Sham gathered friends and family for a beauti-
ful celebration, complete with a rare treat—a birthday cake! The look on these children's faces is confirmation: every child deserves to be celebrated.

Our Ecuadorian accessories are crafted using responsibly harvested local seeds like pambil, acai, and tagua. The Artisans cut, polish, and dye the seeds to make unique, sustainable jewelry.
To create these unique beads, Ethiopian Artisans melt down artillery shells left over from former conflicts. Then, women emerging from vulnerable situations string the beads into elegant accessories.
GUATEMALA Glass Beads
HAITI Upcycled Metal
To make our glass bead accessories, Guatemalan Artisans create their own bead looms using nails and planks of wood. The women enjoy gathering together to string the beads by hand.
In Haiti, finding reliable materials can be difficult. Our Partners utilize local resources like metallic oil drums to create our styles— transforming unneeded items into vibrant accessories.
