Dayton Porsch The Hoxie wrestler claimed his fourth Class 3-2-1A state championship, pinning his way through the state meet last month. Porsch won the 160-pound crown to cap his senior season, defeating Cimarron’s 7DWH 6HDEROW LQ WKH ÆQDO Porsch’s previous titles came at 120, 132 and 145 pounds. The Northern Iowa signee went 145-2 during his high school career.
Jordan Finnesy Plainville’s Finnesy earned a 170-pound championship in Class 3-2-1A after earning a decision over Norton’s Cole Amlong in the final. The junior handed Riley County’s Mikey Waggoner his first loss of the season, beating Waggoner with a 5-4 decision in overtime in the semifinal. Finnesy finished the season 38-2 after placing second at 160 pounds as a sophomore.
Brett Meyer The Fort Hays State senior placed fourth in the mile run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Pittsburg, earning All-American status. He clocked a 4:12.31. it was WKH ÆIWK $OO $PHULFDQ honor in Meyer’s career. He placed second in the mile last year as a junior.
Taylor Rolfs The Fort Hays State junior had a strong MIAA Tournament, helping the 7LJHUV ZLQ WKH WRXUQH\ IRU WKH ÆUVW WLPH 5ROIV UHDFKHG GRXEOH ÆJures in all three tournament games and scored 17 LQ WKH ÆQDO DJDLQVW &HQtral Missouri. The Central Plains product entered the Tigers’ starting lineup after point guard Carly Heim suffered a knee injury in early February. Rolfs helped the Tigers secure the MIAA regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed for the regional tournament.
