Just a short note to thank the South Coast. My mother passed away earlier this year after living on the South Coast for about twelveyears. Spring has always been my favourite season. I love new beginnings and the prospect of hope that comes with it. As thelittleinsectsstarttomakeanappearance again, the days warm up and new buds begin to open, spring is the ultimate reminderthatafterhardshipcomesease.
IhaveadearfriendinUkrainewhoturned70 inJuly.Shewasnotsureifshewouldseeher 70th birthday due to the war She has endured what most of us could not even imagine. She lost her husband and then her brother just months apart from each other and now lives alone. But through all of this, she has her garden to keep her going, and sends me pictures often. Lilies, petunias, roses, grapes, tomatoes, cucumbers! Her picturesleavemeinabsoluteawe. Evenina land at war, nature is resilient. Those green shoots push through the dry, hardened earth and delightful flowers gracefully take their spotlight and bloom. It's all part of this glorious cycle of life that persists unceasingly,comerainorshine.

surprise of bright purple Bellis blooms on spring day! The ushering in of the life giving season has also brought renewed hope, the rekindling of old friendships and a general feeling of excitement for wonderful days to come We tend to become secluded in colder months, wrapped up indoors, but as our coast warms up, I've been reminded of the warmth, joy and comfort in good company, of which there is no shortage on the South Coast! So this season I'm looking forward to a spring cleaning of the mind, body and soul to make room for more kindredheartsandsmilingfaces.
I hope that no matter what you've been through you can feel some of this blossoming euphoria too, and remember that the sun will always rise again, and the magic that grows in the garden grows in all ofus.

With the windy Spring months upon us we are just a short way from the summer weather arriving.This can be a frustrating time of year as conditions are often spoiled by big cold fronts and strong winds. With that said this time of year also brings with it some great angling opportunities.
Offshore fishing at this time of year is generally focused on bottom fishing with most deep water reefs and pinnacles holding geelbek and amberjack. These put up a good fight and are caught mainly on a selectionofdeadorlivebaitsonheavytackle. There are usually shoals of yellowfin tuna around mainly on the deeper reefs such as AliwalShoalandProteaBanksandthesefish areregularlycaughtontrollingluressuchas Rapalas, Halcos and Speedpros or on live baits and sardine block baits Another popular species that starts to make an appearance is the Cape Yellowtail, a hard fighting gamefish found on deeper pinnacles and reefs and usually caught on live bait and vertical jig. These strong fish giveanglersarunfortheirmoneyandsturdy tackle and good technique are required to tamethesefiestyfish.Pleasetakenoteofthe various Marine Protected Area regulations
pertaining to permitted bottom fishing zones as well as bag limits on the various species.
Fortherockandsurfguystheinshorewaters are producing some kob on paddletails and baits as well as Garrick (leervis) which are targeted off most deep water points using livebaitssuchasshadorpinkies.Anglersare reminded to stick to the bag limits and to respect the shad closed season which runs 1stOctoberto30thNovember.

Key questions about the stance of the Springboks as it pertains to their World Cup title defence in France in 2023 will be answered on their daunting end-of year tourinNovember.
Rassie Erasmus and Jacques Nienaber's primary focus has been on becoming the first South African side to win back to-back World Cups That's meant making a few predictably self defeating selections - such as backing ice cold veterans returning from lengthy injury layoffs ahead of red hot rookies-andalarminglossesthisseason. Erasmus earned the favour of South African supporters for his remarkable rescue job to guide the Boks back to global glory in 2019 He's a master planner and as such, he won't be pressured into drastically altering his plans to steady the ship ahead of next year's WorldCup.However,theBoks'poorwin-loss record in the current cycle shows select,

A South AfricanTruly Poem
You're my beaded love letter, my breeze in the night, you're my coffee, my Cremora, my Blitz firelight.
You're my crime-stop, my tracker, you're my ADT, my pap, Mrs Ball's Chutney, my Nando's for free;
You're my lambchop, my dewdrop, my partner in crime, my chillie, my pepper, my vetkoek sublime.
The list is just endless, and this isn't all: You're my Lotto jackpot, my dop and my zol.
You're my 4 x 4 when the road is hilly, you're the flora margarine that butters my mielie.
I smaak you, my poppie, so please be my wife …. cause babe you're the All Gold on the slap chips of life !!!
