LT S : W I T H I N Y O U R R E A C H Lake Tahoe School is committed to enrolling the most talented and deserving students regardless of their financial background, and to maintaining a balanced, diverse community of students representing a variety of cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We strive, through our generous financial assistance, to bring the cost of a Lake Tahoe School education within the reach of any family. For those who demonstrate financial need, we offer a comprehensive program of financial assistance that is unmatched in the Tahoe Basin. While we currently offer no full scholarships, we do offer payment plans to make life easier for the many families of children receiving financial assistance who are enrolled at Lake Tahoe School.

Tuition and Payment Options

WHO RECEIVES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AT LAKE TAHOE SCHOOL?

Upon acceptance into Lake Tahoe School, a 10% non-refundable deposit is required along with a signed Tuition & Fees Agreement and a signed Enrollment Contract to hold a spot for any student. Prior to a student’s attending class at Lake Tahoe School, a signed Enrollment Contract must have been received by the school Business Office. As with most independent schools, tuition at Lake Tahoe School covers significantly less than the actual cost of each child’s education. Every year, support from Annual Fund contributions from parents, alumni and friends make an LTS education possible for every one of our students. Costs of tuition vary from year to year. For a tuition schedule for the current year, please visit http:// www.laketahoeschool.org/admissions/ tuition/. LAKETAHOESCHOOL.ORG

Approximately 17% of the student body receives financial aid. Tuition grants, awarded for demonstrated need range from a few thousand dollars to a maximum of 85% of tuition. Families from a wide range of income levels have qualified for assistance based on individual family circumstances, and Lake Tahoe School strives to meet the demonstrated need for each student it enrolls. We utilize School and Student Services (SSS), a national organization that processes financial assistance applications for both schools and colleges, to help us determine awards.

SHOULD I APPLY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE OR NOT? Please visit http://www.laketahoeschool.org/admissions/tuition/ to learn about Lake Tahoe School’s tuition for the current school year. Consider whether you believe that your current assets, debts, and income would allow your family to qualify for financial assistance before beginning the application process. Remember that, while some independent schools will bill you separately over and above tuition costs for field trips and other incidental costs, at Lake Tahoe School, tuition is considered “all inclusive” covering all costs associated with a Lake Tahoe School education, including course books, our many overnight adventure learning trips, athletic uniforms, etc. The only exceptions are certain “opt in” programs such as our winter Ski and Snowboard program and our Cafe Days. HOW DO I APPLY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE? While generous, our pool of financial aid funds is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Applying early in the winter/spring admission season is advisable. The financial assistance application process, although separate and distinct, runs concurrently to the admission application process. Families must apply online for assistance through School and Student Services (SSS), which is linked on our online LTS Admissions page. Documentation (W2s or tax returns) is essential verifying income, debts, and assets data supplied to SSS.
