On a monthly basis you can experience the wonder of a string quartet, pianist, solo cellist or a vocalist that will mesmerise. Not only classical music will be featured, but any genre of musical performance that would enhance the cultural lives of the people on the coast. On March 3rd the amazing Jacob Shaw (cello) will perform in the Danish Church in Las Lagunas, a wonderful space for a solo cello recital. Jacob is truly remarkable. A beautiful programme of Bach, Britten and Hui will be performed. Details of this concert are on this page.

Project Music Management promises to bring up and coming talent from around the world to perform, give talks, master classes, the works. These concerts will take place in a variety of venues, with the artists brought in being incredibly diverse in genre. They will also be involved in a Visual and Performing Arts Festival titled A Project - Salida del Sol which will run from the 2nd to 9th October this year and will be an annual event, expanding over the coming years. It will encompass 7 nights of consecutive concerts, diverse in nature, in a variety of venues up and down the coast. More information will be made available over the coming months, as we detail progress and developments in this magazine. Having set up this enterprise, Project Music Management intends to bring artists from all over the world to this part of Spain on a regular basis. They will bring music to the people by playing in more local venues, thus making it more accessible to many. To display this promise of a variety of genres, May brings two exciting acts to the coast. Vaz Des, an Australian DJ Duo will perform in Moonlight Bar in Benalmadena on the 11th. They will bring a mix of new music and stellar covers. This will be followed by The Kingsmen, one of America’s finest all male a cappella groups from Columbia University, New York. They will be here from the 23rd to 30th May, performing a number of concerts for your enjoyment. More information on these events will be in the next issue of Key to Mijas Costa magazine. EDITOR’S NOTE It has been a pleasure meeting Project Music Management and discussing the exciting new musical projects they will bring to the coast. I am very much looking forward to meeting the international artists they will bring and to attending concerts in various venues, and to working with them in general. If any reader has a venue, innovative space, that they feel would lend itself to an event, please contact the magazine by email on keymagazine@yahoo.com in the first instance and we will pass on the information. This is just the start of a very exciting new project that will enhance the lives of expats in the area and I am honoured to be a part of it. I hope to see you at the first concert on March 3rd.
