Förord Syftet med denna skrift är att göra det lätt att hitta litteratur om Kyrkan; dess liturgi1, tro, liv och lära. Att läsa böcker bidrar till att upptäcka Gud som redan är närvarande i våra liv innan vi bett vår första bön. Vägen till gemenskap med Gud går samtidigt inte genom att uteslutande läsa böcker utan genom delaktighet i Kyrkans liv. En av Kyrkans fäder, Evagrios av Pontas sade: ”teolog är den som ber i ande och sanning, och den som ber i ande och sanning är teolog”. Med vi behöver studier för att skapa större förståelse av vad bön är. Alla former av bön är kollektiva handlingar. Att enbart läsa och studera räcker inte men är nödvändigt. Genom delaktighet i Kyrkans liv växer vi som personer i kyrkans gemenskap till att rymma Honom som inte himlarna kan rymma. Kristus sade ”Jag är vägen, sanningen och livet”. (Joh 15:7) och ”jag ska bygga min kyrka” (Matt. 16:18). Kyrkan är alltså: ”porten in i Kristi uppståndelseliv”2. Alexander Schmemann, en rysk-ortodox teolog uttrycker kyrkofädernas syn i det att det är i Kyrkan som Gud uppenbarat fullheten av frälsningens mysterium3. Därför behöver vi lära känna vår kyrka djupare. Vi behöver lära känna våra kyrkofäder, martyrer, helgon, vår rika bönetradition (Shhimo) och vår gudstjänst i dess djup, kärlek och skönhet. Vi har knappt skrapat på ytan. Men genom att studera dessa ting ökar vår erfarfenhet av vår ontologiska delaktighet av livet i Kristus. Större delen av litteraturen på engelska. De böcker som finns på svenska räcker dock gott och väl för att hålla oss upptagna under lång tid. Vi studerar med hjärnan såväl som med hjärtat och därför är det bra att läsa långsamt och reflektera över vad man läst. De fyra källorna för att studera Kyrkan är tro (de heliga Skrifterna), kyrkofäderna, läran (kanon, ecklesioglogi) och liv (liturgi och spiritualitet). Dessa tillsammans utgör Kyrkans Tradition. Ordet på suryoyo för källa; ayno eller arabiska ayin betyder också öga. Vi skådar Gud genom dessa källor. Steg för steg ska vi leva i lysande och livgivande gemenskap i kärlek med Gud när vi djupare lär känna den Kyrka vi bekänner i Abo Ahid (Trosbekännelsen) Ortodoxa Kyrkan, himmelriket på jorden.

Denna skrift är på intet sätt uttömmande och har inte uppdaterats sedan våren 2012. Därför saknas böcker och publikationer från de senaste fem åren fram till dagens datum 2017-0216.
