Scouting news for innovation

Innovation Convention 2014 The Innovation Convention will take place on 10-11 march 2014 in Brussels (Belgium). The event is built within the Innovation Union flagship initiative, the EU strategy which aims at promoting a research and innovation-friendly ecosystem all across the Europe. The conference Source: ec.europa.eu will provide an opportunity to discuss about innovation with business leaders, researchers and policy makers, but also to share experience and gain inspiration from great showcases. Living labs shaping the cities and regions of the future, creativity and social innovation, a citizen-centric governance to provide better services, and big data will be some of the topics discussed during the congress.

SMART ENERGY

The section presents some latest innovative solutions (i.e. smart window and paper solar cell), as well as relevant initiatives (i.e. a UE project for intelligent energy and the US first electric highway). It also shows the results of some recent surveys on smart grid and energy efficiency. Finally it deals with new investments on renewable energies in Italy.

SMART CITY

The smart city page provides an overview of some new UE and local regulations. The section also focuses on the use of social media data and a Web platform in support of sustainability and urban development. Moreover you can read about the Internet of Things and get a snapshot of the IDC's predictions for 2014 in the field of smart cities.
