Baldwin-Motion was the first Corvette tuner and the machines that company created were legendary. Baldwin Chevrolet, a dealer in Baldwin, NY would deliver new Corvettes to Joel Rosen’s Motion Performance speed shop down the road for modifications. Motion would build these serial production specialty Corvettes to order. It was Rosen’s dream in late-1968 to build a new, fast and functional all-American GT sports . The sensuously styled Phase III GT was a stunner. It had a unique fastback rear window, a performance suspension and as much as 600 dyno-tuned horsepower from either a 427 cid or 454 cid big-block V8s. Although one Motion Vette did receive a smaller LT1-spec 350 cid V8. Only 12 were built between 1969-1971. The legendary 1965 Mustang Shelby GT350 were serious high- performance machines. In fact, some buyers that very first year felt these cars were a little too hardcore and at the same time Shelby was on a rampage to cut costs. So, for 1966, Shelby replaced, deleted or made optional some of the car’s signature high performance features like the adjustable Koni shocks, the fiberglass hood, free-flowing (and loud) side exhaust outlets and that fully locking Detroit Locker rear differential. But if you checked the fine print there was a Paxton supercharger option available for 1966. The $700 option was claimed to boost the 289 cid V8’s 306 hp output by 46 percent. That’s probably a bit generous, but it was still an excellent power adder. But the supercharger cost nearly a quarter of the car’s original pricetag and just 12 customers were willing to pay. The AMX/3 was a stunningly-cool mid-engined exotic. Its development was an international collaborative effort between an AMC team led by Dick Teague (head of design), ItalDesign, Italian engineer Giotto Bizzarrini and even some work was done by BMW. The 3,300-pound sports car was powered by an AMC 390 cid V8 that packed 340 hp and was backed by a four-speed manual. It could reportedly accelerate to 60 mph in just over 5 seconds and top 170 mph—solid numbers for the time. But the machine never officially made it to AMC showrooms, in part because of cost. It would have required a sticker price reportedly close to $15,000 and just a few thousand dollars shy of Lamborghini’s Miura. Six prototypes were of this car were built (plus a rumored seventh parts car) and some of them ended up in private garages. These surviving AMX/3s look more like production cars than they do prototypes. And one of them sold at an auction in 2017 for almost $900,000.

Jeep Wagoneer The Jeep Wagoneer was the first true SUV, so it had a tremendous influence on the global industry. The fact that Jeep produced it from 1963 all the way to 1991 with just a few tweaks is a true proof of its qualities. At first, the Wagoneer was available as a two-door or four-door SUV, or a two-door panel truck. As the model progressed, it became available with more luxury features, including wooden side panels. THE MOTORSPORT MONTH Formula 1:Canadian GP Hamilton wins after controversial Vettel penalty Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari were denied a first win of the 2019 Formula 1 season after a five-second time penalty handed Canadian Grand Prix victory to Lewis Hamilton. Vettel led from start to finish in Montreal but was demoted to second by a penalty picked up after running wide at the first chicane and almost colliding with Hamilton as he rejoined. That handed Hamilton his fifth win of the season and maintained Mercedes' 100% victory record after seven races. Vettel had a big enough advantage to hold on to second, as Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc completed the podium Furious Vettel hits out at "blind" Canadian GP stewards Ferrari was in contention to end its winless start to the campaign after Vettel kept Hamilton at arm's length through the opening stint, but came under increasing pressure in the second half of the race. Hamilton dropped to almost five seconds behind Vettel by virtue of extending his first stint by a couple of laps, but had stronger pace on the hard tyres and quickly caught the Ferrari. In nine laps he eradicated Vettel's lead and moved within DRS range, but briefly fell out again after a lock-up at the hairpin. However, as the two started lap 48 Hamilton was closer to Vettel again, and Vettel took to the grass at the first chicane after briefly losing the rear of his car on corner entry. Vettel skated over the grass and rejoined just as Hamilton tried to dart into the gap between the scrambling Ferrari and the wall on the exit of the corner. Hamilton backed out to avoid a collision and Vettel maintained his lead, but was punished after a lengthy investigation by the stewards. Vettel never came close to building a big enough gap to cancel out the penalty and complained over the race that the officials were "stealing the race" from Ferrari.
Austrian GP: Verstappen edges Leclerc in thrilling race: Red Bull driver Max Verstappen passed Charles Leclerc in a thrilling finish to the Austrian Grand Prix to give Honda its first win since returning to Formula 1. Verstappen fell to eighth on the opening lap but charged through the order and caught Leclerc late on before winning a wheel-to-wheel battle to secure the victory. However, his race-winning pass – which resulted in minor contact and pushed Leclerc to the run-off, denying Leclerc a first F1 win – led to a post-race investigation from the stewards which took 2 hours but results remained the same as no penalties were given. Leclerc finished second on the road, with Valtteri Bottas third as Mercedes' 100% win record at the start of 2019 was finally ended. Leclerc led from pole position and despite being on a strategy his rivals felt was "risky" managed to keep the lead Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas at arm's length throughout the grand prix. He then held on to withstand a late assault from Verstappen, who fell from second to eighth on the opening lap but charged back to score Red Bull's best result of the season with Honda.
Mugello MotoGP: Petrucci beats Marquez for first victory. Ducati rider Danilo Petrucci secured his first-ever MotoGP victory on home soil at Mugello after edging out Marc Marquez at the conclusion of a thrilling Italian Grand Prix. Petrucci held on in a tense showdown, beating Honda rider Marquez by only 0.043 seconds on the drag to the finish line, with Andrea Dovizioso making it two Ducatis on the podium in third. The 28-year-old, who won on his 124th start in the premier class, is out of contract at Ducati at the end of the season, but his triumph will have significantly bolstered his hopes of a renewal. French GP: Hamilton leads processional Mercedes 1-2 Alex Rins narrowly missed a podium spot in fourth for Hamilton comfortably defeated teammate Valtteri Bottas Suzuki, followed by LCR Honda's Takaaki Nakagami in fifth at Paul Ricard as Charles Leclerc completed the podium and top Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales in sixth. for Ferrari. A boring race it was ,there was some action in the penultimate lap as Lando Norris was battling a hydraulics problem that got worse as the race progressed and presented braking and steering problems for the rookie. He ran seventh until the very last lap, when his problems became too much to overcome and he slipped behind Daniel Ricciardo's Renault, the Alfa Romeo of Kimi Raikkonen and Nico Hulkenberg in the other Renault. Ricciardo attacked the ailing Norris on the outside at the chicane but ran deep, so Norris squirted the throttle and tried to re-pass him through the second part of the corner but went too wide after Ricciardo squeezed him, and took to the run-off. That triggered multiple cars running side-by-side as Raikkonen and Hulkenberg got in on the battle, with Ricciardo claiming seventh ahead of Raikkonen, Hulkenberg and the defeated Norris. However ,after the race Ricciardo was given 2 time penalties putting him outside the points ,lifting Kimi into 7th and giving Gasly 10th place as Ric ended in 1th place because of his penalties.
Barcelona MotoGP: Marquez wins, Lorenzo triggers pile-up. MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez dominated the Catalan Grand Prix at Barcelona, after a crash for his Honda teammate Jorge Lorenzo took Andrea Dovizioso and the two factory Yamahas out of the race. Lorenzo, who had charged from 10th on the grid to join the lead battle, fell at the sharp Turn 10 left-hander while trying to pass Maverick Vinales, taking down his compatriot, as well as Dovizioso and Valentino Rossi in the process. Marquez overtook pole-sitter Fabio Quartararo off the line, but yielded to a fast-starting Dovizioso at Turn 1, and was soon also briefly overtaken by Vinales. Having regained second place, the championship leader pressured Dovizioso, and snuck past the Ducati man on the second lap at Turn 10. At that same corner, Lorenzo committed down the inside of Vinales for third place but hit the deck on corner entry. His bike clattered into Dovizioso's rear, and the resulting crash removed both Vinales and Rossi – who had gone wide to avoid the pile-up - from the race. The crash left Marquez on his own up front, and promoted Ducati's Danilo Petrucci to second place, the Italian unable to keep pace with the Honda man but managing to fend off both Suzuki's Alex Rins and Quartararo, who had been as low as ninth after the opening lap. Quartararo came 2nd with Petrucci completing the podium. Assen MotoGP: Vinales beats Marquez, Quartararo for first win of 2019. Maverick Vinales scored his and Yamaha's first win of 2019 after emerging victorious in a thrilling three-way fight with Marc Marquez and Fabio Quartararo at Assen. A very exciting race that saw Valentino Rossi had a fast crash with Takaaki Nakagami at Turn 8, the Japanese rider visibly hurt after the incident and taken to the medical centre for a check-up, while Karel Abraham also fell at Turn 3. Vinales eventually crossed the line by 4.8s, scoring his and Yamaha's first win since last year's race at Phillip Island. Marquez finished second, bagging his seventh podium this year out of eight races, as he extended his championship lead to 44 points over Andrea Dovizioso. Quartararo in the end dropped 9.7s adrift but still secured the final podium spot, his second top-three finish in a row.

An early start was needed when northern members met in Albir then drove south to meet up with more members at Algorfa before proceeding to(la finca) golf resort for a coffee stop at the club house ,which it sat amongst its lush green gardens and golf course . Once refreshed the next part of their run was to famous Rebate restaurant where a champagne reception was prepared for their one -o -clock arrival. The gardens and outside bar were a welcoming sight and canapés were offered around the guests to accompany their welcome drinks as they relaxed and mingled with friends old and new . At two o’clock the waiters led their guests inside to the private dining room ,and lunch was served to 50+ people .Tnen when the meal was over the table tops became sounding boards to accompany a commentary about ,as members tapped out the sound of racing horses hooves creating a race track atmosphere,and to add to a final finish to a wonderful day Maria their very own professional singer sang the most amusing version of a song from My Fair Lady about the races much to the surprise and appreciation of everyone,making it a most fantastic day . Started in 1999, the Gumball 3000 Rally is an annual luxury automotive road trip taking place every year and travelling a different 3000 mile route. Drive through capital cities in front of hundreds of thousands of fans and photographers as Gumball shuts down famous landmarks in each city where spectacular static car displays are hosted and documented by the world’s press. This year the event started in Mykonos, Greece with David Hasselhoff performing the opening ceremony. Famous drivers included David Coulthard and the model Jodie Kidd. The 3000 mile trip covered 8 countries and ended in Ibiza, with the rare opportunity of the cars being seen in Dénia before they embarked on the crossing to Ibiza. Next year the Gumball rally will begin in Toronto and end in Havanna.
