The Kings In early March 1955 Elvis bought his first Pink Cadillac. It was a pink and white 1954 Cadillac and provided transportation for Elvis and the Blue Moon Boys for about three months. The car went up in smoke when a brake lining caught fire, on the road between Hope and Texarkana, Ark. on June 5, 1955. On July 7, 1955 Elvis purchased his second Pink Cadillac, a new 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 in blue with black roof, to replace the Cadillac that was burned. He had the car repainted by a neighbor who designed a pink color for Elvis and named the color 'Elvis Rose'. This is the one that he gave to his mother, probably the most famous car in the world. Gladys Presley would always proudly point to it as 'her' car. Gladys Presley never had a driver's license and Elvis drove the car with the members of his band for most of 1955 - 1956. They had a serious accident in Texarkana, Texas on September 2, 1955. Scotty Moore drove the pink and black Cadillac Fleetwood into an oncoming vehicle that was in the process of passing a pickup truck. Scotty recalls the Cadillac as requiring approximately $1,000 worth of repairs. In February 1956, Elvis had the upholstery replaced as well as getting some paint work done. This may well have been when the black roof is painted white. The original pink Cadillac remains on permanent display in the auto museum at Graceland.

The deadline to drive legally without being fined, it is the date you can find on the back of your ITV card, just next to the last stamp. The ITV test is the document you have to prove that your car is in roadworthy condition, so once it expires you can be fined. Advance CarTechnology Although the basic principles of car mechanics have not been changed for decades, new technology implemented in modern vehicles has made all the difference. Compared to the cars from the late ’90s, today’s vehicles are robots on wheels capable of protecting their passengers better, applying brakes by themselves and even recognizing drivers’ intentions. But that doesn’t mean the evolution has reached its peak. In fact, new technology is introduced daily, and in the next 3 edition we are going to tell you about 15 advances in the car industry that will certainly change the way we drive in just a couple of years from now. Here are the first 5 so get ready, because the future is here. Autonomous Vehicles First and foremost, autonomous vehicles are top news in car industry since they are the biggest game changers ever. The technology is already here, and although the implementation is a little bit difficult, controversial, and even dangerous, we can expect self-driving cars in not so distant future. We will not drive the cars, but the cars will drive us and travel without our control. Of course, there are a lot of issues to be sorted out before it will be safe to ride in an autonomous vehicle on an everyday basis, but we are getting there more quickly than we think.
Night Vision Systems In the early 2000s, some car manufacturers introduced night vision radars in selected high-end models. Basically, it is a front-mounted radar which sees much further than the human eye and can see trough heavy rain, fog or snow. The picture is then transmitted to the windshield in front of the driver. The newest application of this system has pedestrian detection and warning features, and it really helps you see what is in front of you in difficult weather conditions.
Front And Rear Radars High-end luxurious vehicles already have front mounted radars which help break and keep the distance between the cars in dense highway traffic. However, radars mounted on the front and on the back to help you park and warn you of the car getting too close to you are slowly starting to get installed in regular new cars. We can expect that in the following years, all new vehicles will have this feature which will vastly improve our safety.
Driver Override Safety Systems Advanced electronics and sensor units brought us to the point where a car is able to break where driver has failed to react, and recognize the danger even if the driver is too busy checking his phone. We can expect that override systems will be more and more powerful and involved with the driving, so the car will slowly take control. For example, if the car thinks that you should brake or stop, it will do so, even if your foot is on the accelerator pedal.
Biometric Vehicle Access The keyless entry and even keyless start are already standard on so many modern vehicles. However, the industry is going a step further with plans to introduce fingerprint sensors for entering the car and retina scanners for starting the vehicle. The principle is simple, when you touch the door handle, it will recognize your fingerprints and open the door, and when you sit in the drivers seat, it will scan your eyes and start the car. The technology is already there and car keys as we know them can be extinct in a couple of years from now.

THE MOTORSPORT MONTH F1 2019 , a huge season of F1

Fuel allowance tweaks to allow drivers to push
Lewis Hamilton will be seeking to become just the second driver in history to win six F1 world championships. He will be joined on the grid by fellow Brits Lando Norris and George Russell, with both embarking on their debut seasons in F1 at McLaren and Williams respectively. Elsewhere four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will renew his rivalry with Hamilton but is likely to face stiff competition from new Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc. And will Max Verstappen and Red Bull be firmly in the world title fight with their new Honda power? This could be one of the most exciting seasons in years. Here’s a rundown of some changes for the 2019 Formula 1 season: Heavier drivers’ disadvantage reduced Nico Hulkenberg is among the tallest and heaviest drivers on the grid. As a result, under the current rules, he is at a disadvantage to his smaller and lighter rivals, who - unlike him - can utilise extra the ballast added to their car (to bring it up to weight) to help optimise its balance and set-up. But the good news for The Hulk is that from 2019, driver weight will now be considered separately to the car, rather than as combined figure, which for 2018 is 734kg. A minimum weight for a driver will be mandated. It’s expected to be set at 80kg. If a driver weighs less than that, a team will need to use ballast to bring them up to the minimum weight. This ballast will be placed adjacent to the driver’s seat, therefore reducing the advantage a smaller, lighter driver has previously had over his heavier rivals. It also reduces the need for drivers to cut their calorie intake in a bid to force their weight down, which in turn reduces the potential health risks of such a strategy. The move will also benefit teams who decide their driver line-up late in the day, as the driver no longer needs to be taken into account when a team finalises their car weight.
The new generation of F1 cars are spectacular to watch. But that has come at a cost, namely heavier cars and more downforce, which has led to more time on the gas and therefore more fuel burned. With the race fuel allowance set at 105kg, this has forced drivers to at times lift and coast in a bid to save fuel and get to the end of the race, rather than being able to push flat out for the entire race distance. Fuel saving has long been a part of motorsport at the highest level, but it is something that F1, the FIA and teams have been keen to do something about. So it has been agreed that the allowance will be increased by 5kg to 110kg with the aim of allowing drivers to use the engine at full power at all times. The most efficient engines will still be rewarded, while the thirstier engines will be punished. But it is hoped the move will ease the need to fuel save. And don’t forget, a team could be strategic and choose to run less fuel and drive economically at certain stages of the race to gain track position.

New gloves to improve safety In the relentless pursuit of improving safety, the FIA has mandated that F1 drivers will be required to wear biometric gloves that will transmit potentially life-saving data from the driver to the at-track medical team. The gloves, developed by the FIA Safety Department, feature a sensor stitched into the fabric that will monitor a driver’s pulse rate and the amount of oxygen in the blood before, during and after a crash. It will be particularly useful in a scenario such as that at the 2015 Russian Grand Prix, when Carlos Sainz crashed head-on into a barrier at over 150 km/h. The Spaniard was unhurt, but because the car had come to rest underneath the barrier, it was difficult for the medical team to assess his condition and communicate with him.

90 Speed Reduction In Spain
On 28 December, 2018, the Spanish government has approved the amendment of Article 48 of the General Circulation Regulation referring to speed limits on conventional roads with the main aim of reducing casualties through road traffic incidents and meeting the objective established in the Road Safety Strategy 2011-2020 to lower the rate of deaths in traffic incidents, which in 2017 stood at 39 per million inhabitants, with the intended reduction being at least as low as 37. The primary change is the reduction of the maximum permitted speed on conventional roads, setting the standard maximum at 90 kilometres per hour. These conventional roads are the location for the majority of injury incidents, with 7 out of every 10 incidents occurring on these roads, and in a year in which more than 1,000 people have lost their lives. Inappropriate speed is the concurrent cause in 20% of traffic incidents. This modification standardises the speed limit on these roads where there had been different limits depending on the road characteristics, a factor which was set in the 80s. The reduction also brings Spain in line with many other European countries, the majority being limited to 90 kilometres per hour, although many others have already established lower limits. The modification also establishes limits for different types of vehicles. Most countries of the European Union with lower death rates per million inhabitants in traffic incidents already have a speed limit differential between light and heavy vehicles, on conventional roads, ranging between 0 and 10 kilometres per hour. The text of Article 48 has also been altered to make it easier to understand, with a new table explaining the limits produced.

Eco Stickers in Madrid Tyres Once again, Madrid is facing high levels of contamination caused by motor vehicle emissions, but unlike during previous episodes of pollution when @ everyone was confused as to who could drive where and when, this time the Batteries city council is able to better control access, thanks to the introduction of the @toptyres15 Eco Sticker. Brakes On Wednesday, 12 December, vehicles which do not display a sticker, and Los Dolses Carretra, C/ Cuidad de Barcelona, those which cause the highest contamination, will not be permitted to drive Villamartin, La Zenia, (opposite the College Acequion) inside the boundaries of the M-30, nor will they be Pre able toITV use theService ring road. The national vehicle database will be able to ascertain whether your vehicle is suitable for one of the four categories, Zero emissions, Eco, C and B.Once you have your sticker you then have to put it in the correct place on the windscreen, which , according to the DGT, is the lower right corner of the front windshield, as you’re looking out, so the ITV would be at the top right, the eco sticker at the bottom right.
