Congregation-wide Shabbat Service, when Holy Blossom Temple’s new Board of Directors will be installed. Childcare and creative study programs will be provided. A kiddush lunch will follow.
Wed. Oct. 31, 2007, at 8 p.m. The 2007 W. Gunther Plaut Humanitarian Award will be presented to Dr. James Orbinski, Humanitarian Advocate and Past President of Doctors Without Borders. Dr. Orbinski is a veteran of many of the world’s most disturbing and complex humanitarian emergencies. He accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) in 1999.
This award is bestowed every two years on a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the community and to human rights. Previous recipients have been Rabbi W. Gunther Plaut, Dr. J. Fraser Mustard, Jean Vanier, Prof. Irwin Cotler and LieutenantGeneral Roméo A. Dallaire. Introduction: Michael Levine
