GHC has launched its NEW and IMPROVED website! GHC's website designed to serve as an information and advocacy hub for GHC members and the wider global health community. Also, GHC is building a gallery of photos to display its members' efforts and initiatives around the world. If your organization would like to highlight the work that you are doing to advance health around the world, please share your resources with us.

Attention GHC members: GHC has begun planning for the 68th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva from May 18-23. This year, GHC will be hosting a few side events including a workshop on the SDG indicator process. To participate in this and other side events, as well as gain access to hotel room blocks, access to the official meeting, and more, please contact: delegations@globalhealth.org. Participation in the delegation is reserved for GHC members in good standing.

Upcoming GHC Events 

Come to GHC's Monthly Happy Hour Salon to reconnect, exchange ideas, and chat with GHC and its members about your priorities and plans. The first salon will take place on Tuesday, February 24 in Washington, DC.

GHC will be launching its first ever World Health Assembly (WHA) Policy Scrum Webinar Series on Wednesday, March 11 at 11:00 AM ET. More information to come.

GHC is hosting its annual The Future of Global Health (TFGH15) networking event onThursday, April 16 in Washington, DC. Mark your calendars and get ready for exciting and engaging conversations around global health. As part of the TFGH15 event, GHC will be holding a digital video contest to showcase the Best Places to Work in Global Health. Stay tuned for an official announcement with instructions next week.

GHC member CUGH is getting ready for their annual conference to be held in Boston, MA at the end of March. See here for the latest information on speakers and registration.

Call for Abstracts for the Prince Mahidol Award Conference 2016: Abstracts must be submitted electronically via the conference website. The closing date for abstract submission is March 31, 2015 at 4:00 PM Thailand Local time (GMT+7).

 

Nominations are now open for the 2015 Roux Prize, a $100,000 award launched in 2013 to recognize individuals or groups who have used disease burden evidence to take action and make people healthier. The prize was founded by philanthropists David and Barbara Roux and is awarded annually by GHC Member the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation(IHME). Jeff Richardson, Vice President of the AbbVie Foundation (a GHC member), has been selected as MAP International's first ever recipient of the Health & Hope Lifetime Achievement Award.

Advocacy Update 

On February 2, President Obama sent his proposed budget for FY2016 to Congress. The budget request includes about $9.7 billion for Global Health Programs account at USAID and the State Department.
