What’s Happening In The C.O?!

!

! Claudette Ortiz is the female voice of the Grammy nominated hiphop/R&B trio City High, who made their debut on the charts with the single "What Would You Do" and "Carmel".

Claudette Ortiz!

GT: After all you have been through what is your feeling at this very moment? Claudette Ortiz: Refreshed, grateful & thankful! GT: From the age 16 to 33 what lessons have you learned in this music industry? Claudette Ortiz: Actually at 14 years old, I was opening up for the Delfontics in the boroughs of New York and working in the studio so i actually didn't drop until I was about 18 years old. Although I was a little girl when City High came out and I wasn’t really aware of the success that we had because we were working during that time a lot, and we had no cell phones or anything like that, so we were just working; I didn’t know if we were doing well or not. But I had just started my adulthood at that time so from 18, 19, 20, those three years of being in the business, it felt like forever and I learned a lot. And I had my first child at 21, and from then until now, I’ve been married, divorced, I’ve tried all kinds of different things; tried to start my own businesses, real estate and all kinds of things like that; gained friends, lost friends. I went through anything that anyone in their twenties would go through as well as have my struggles and had people talk about me and been scrutinized over the internet, so it definitely has made me stronger. GT: So after a successful City High album the group breaks up and life begins to change for you, After several attempts at different careers choices you had gotten to the point you were ready to join the Army Reserves? Claudette Ortiz: Prior to the show, I had really hit rock bottom and I just wanted to be able to provide for them and not struggle and have money for them to go to any school they wanted to. After a divorce and all the little odd jobs that I was doing; I was a chef in the kitchen, I tried to open my own businesses, I had my catering businesses and I had a cleaning business but those things were not enough to raise my children. GT: But the Army Reserves though? You’re 5’5! Claudette Ortiz: Lol, A lot of people have that reaction…I’m not tiny. I’m from a military family…my father served in Vietnam, grandfather, uncle ‘s I learned how to shoot a gun at 10 years old. But I was thinking about being a nurse. I felt like it would pay for school. I didn’t have any degree or anything so…. GT: Then R & B Diva's happened…Claudette Ortiz: I just got a text. It was very random and I usually had a lot of different little offers. None of them really worked, I guess. I prayed about it and spoke with close friends and family about it and we decided that it would be a good move for me. GT: Let me ask you, reality shows … good idea or bad idea? Claudette Ortiz: It depends on the person and the show. It’s a gamble but I talked with family and friends I just didn't want to get stuck in the cycle. I have children and it was a choice I had to make for them and I didn’t wanna overexpose them if later on, they’d be like, ‘mom, why’d you do that?’ Don’t know if they would want that or not, so that was a little scary. But as far as myself, I’m an open book and people be in my business anyway (laughs), so I was like whateva!

GT: So R & B Diva's helped you? Claudette Ortiz: Absolutely! Lots of doors opened, it actually helped me reach fans and reconnect with old contacts… GT: In the beginning of the show you stressed how hard it was juggling everything at that moment, have it gotten any easier for you? Claudette Ortiz: Yes it was very hard in the beginning I got a call around Christmas they wanted me there by January, and my kids were still in school and doing really good… It was a big move from East to West Coast but I was at a crossroads where I just had to [do the show] so I was packing throwing stuff away …I couldn't move my car and I still haven't shipped my car yet…crazy thing! Plus I was starting from scratch after my home was robbed … and when I say scratch I mean pots and pans…. but I am definitely in a much better place than I was. I had just left my four years of being at rock bottom. Four years of being ridiculed and scrutinized on the Internet and four years of having to decide between one bill and the other and having to go to the social services building and you’re case worker recognizes you and says, “Why are you here?” It breaks you down so now I’m just coming out of that break down and rebuilding myself and trying to get back into the grove of being in spotlight and being in entertainment. That’s a sadness that I believe women do feel and it does show on your face, but you keep it moving, you don’t cry. You keep your head up and you keep going, even though you do have that consistent worry and heartbreak. GT: How did your children handle the move? Claudette Ortiz: My children adjusted very well. As a mom, I’m still trying to maintain things and make sure that it stays that way, so it’s still a little bit of a struggle but it’s way better than what it used to be, and I’m very thankful. As long as they are with me they good … they trust me... They were more nervous of me going to the airport.

! GT: So no regrets so far?

GT: Are there any artists you would like to work with?

Claudette Ortiz: No, It’s difficult. It is hard. The time that it takes to be a mother versus the time it takes to be successful in the entertainment industry… you have to find a balance because both of them need all of your time. So finding that balance can be difficult but having the support of my family and my friends and my manager and other people who are close to me, we’re making it happen. God is good. So we’re making it happen.

Claudette Ortiz: that would be a long list (laughs). But we could say my dream team would be Cee-Lo Green and Timbaland. And that was before Justin Timberlake’s album came out, I’ve been saying that for a long time.

GT: How is it working with the other R & B Divas?

Claudette Ortiz: Oh man! Aretha Franklin, Lauryn Hill, Shirley Bassey, of course the late Whitney Houston, there’s so many artists, I don’t even know. Kiki Clark Sheard, the Clark Sisters, Faith Evans, and then of course, the ladies on the show, they inspire me.

Claudette Ortiz: I have a good relationship with all the ladies. I spent more time with Lil’ Mo and Chante Moore. I have a lovely relationship with Dawn as well. So I can’t really narrow it down. Michel’le is great too. But I guess I would say I spent more time with Chante and Lil’ Mo. GT: Are you getting more offers to perform musically? Claudette Ortiz: Yes I am. I been performing at different events, i recently performed at a women’s empowering event. That was great! GT: Speaking of Women empowering … any plans for a Book? Claudette Ortiz: Lol No… No I’m still young… I have to live a little bit more. GT: I’m referring to your faith … your strength … a lot of women are giving up to easily now a days … there’s no fight in them... Claudette Ortiz: True…. yeah i understand … if that was the reason I went through what i did, (to be a inspiration) … so be it…God use me. …Showing me I'm no different from anyone else out there i had my share of blood sweat and tears… and I just held on!

GT: Are there any artist that inspire you?

GT: Any chance of a city high reunion? Claudette Ortiz: UHHH…no!!!…My ex-husband was in that group… that means we have to connect with all these things "ex" ….ex mangers, ex members…. No! . No! No! Do you want to go back to your first job? That's’ like reliving everything. All over again. GT: Your first job was way more exciting than mines …I'm just saying you all had some really big hits … Claudette Ortiz: No… I’m going to perform those same songs with out them…. I’m on to the next, I have a great team now and we are just moving forward. GT: You recently dropped a single "Automatic”, how is the reception of that song so far? Claudette Ortiz: It’s been great. We gave it away. …Soundcloud …Internet…

!

GT: Is there a release date for a new album? Claudette Ortiz: No we are going to just put out more singles… and work our way up from there. I am always working on new music. You can always find something on YouTube, old songs and random new songs I may put up there. I want to do other things as well; I’m working on an album. Of course you’ll see a lot of interviews and magazine articles. I’m trying to get into film and movies. So hopefully you’ll see more of me… look out for it! GT: What can we expect from your new music? Claudette Ortiz: During that rough period I had time to think about some things, I didn't have any music other than gospel that inspired me. I had to listen to old songs. There will be a lot of love. I am a very loving person so they’ll be love songs and some uplifting things. We’ll also throw in a few fun things and some acoustics maybe to mix some things up. I have a lot to say, so lyrically there’s gonna be some love songs, but also things to help people when they need something during a struggle to let out some emotion. As far as music, the sound of it, I would say it’s very R&B, you’re gonna have some heavy drums in there, very melodic, and maybe a little later on I’ll start on some pop things, but right now, what’s coming out is very R&B, a lot of singing, plenty of instruments.

GT: What would you share with other women who face trials and tribulations? Claudette Ortiz: Know your worth! … Don't give up on yourself… I know it feels like hard times are going to be there forever but don't give up! Please follow me at: Instagram @Claudettestan Go cop that new single " Automatic"

Did you know?

Due to the efficiency of the kinetic linking of her body parts and has been compared to the throwing motion of a major league pitcher Jonathan Papelbon and according to Will Femia, a 71 miles per hour (114 km/h) pitch (which was clocked during her August 15, 2014 game) as well as led her team to a 4–0 victory over Nashville. She pitched six innings, struck out eight batters, and gave up two infield hits. By the fifth inning, the Nashville pitcher had reached the 85-pitch limit in Little League baseball, but Davis had only thrown 44 pitches. In the sixth inning, she struck out the first two batters, and the third batter was at the full count when she struck him out. She has the talent to become a professional baseball player with the equivalent in reaction time at the plate for a batter to a 93 miles per hour (150 km/h) pitch on a full sized diamond. She also throws a curve ball that "has given opposing hitters fits".

Mo'ne Ikea Davis is the most talked-about female baseball player on earth right now! She is Taney Dragons Little League Baseball pitcher phenom from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is one of two girls in the 2014 Little League World Series and is the first girl to earn a win and to pitch a shutout in Little League World Series history. She is the 18th girl overall to play, the sixth to get a hit, and the fourth American girl to play in the Little League World Series. She is also the first Little League baseball player to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated as a Little League player.

In 1972, Maria Pepe was the first girl to start in Little League games, but she was removed when opposing teams demanded that she be removed. The National Organization for Women filed suit for Pepe, and in 1973 Judge Sylvia Pressler ruled that "The institution of Little League is as American as the hot dog and apple pie. Although the ruling came too late for Pepe to play, since she had turned 14, the ruling made it possible for Davis and other girls to play Little League baseball. At 5 feet 4 inches and 111 pounds, Davis relies more on the precise mechanics of pitching rather than strength. Davis has a wind up and release point that never varies by more than 3 degrees. Although her arm is 15% shorter than a major league pitcher's arm, she is able to deliver balls at over 70 miles per hour (110 km/h) while the average velocity in her age class is in the high 50 miles per hour (80 km/h) to low 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) range. At the end of her throwing motion, her arm is moving forward at peak angular velocity of 2500˚/sec, which is over 80% of the peak angular velocity (3000˚/sec) of typical major league pitchers

Taney Dragons are out of the Little League World Series after losing an elimination game Thursday night in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to a squad from Chicago The Jackie Robinson West Little League. Mo'ne Ikea Davis also play Basketball and Soccer.

Sure Ways to Get Over Him •

Choose something and commit to it. Today is the first day of the rest of your life - time to move on!

• •

Ensure you sleep well Limit your drinking - too much alcohol makes a huge demand on Vitamin B - vital for dealing with stress. Take plenty exercise: aerobic exercise is great, particularly outdoors. Fast walking for half an hour a day or at least five times a week will do the trick. Calm your mind You won't believe how relaxed you can be and you will be in far more able to think clearly and stop those unwelcome thoughts going round and round De-stress with soothing music (with about 80 beats per minute - similar to your heartrate).

Write 'never to be sent letters' to get things of your chest Keep a journal to help get stuff off your chest. If you are suffering from depression (not just feeling down because you've had a disappointment or a relationship ending or are facing a divorce), you really need some help. Give yourself permission and set a time to indulge yourself in thoughts about the object of your affection. Take no more than 20 minutes a day. Get on with the rest of your life shelving any thoughts about that person until the allotted time. If an important relationship has come to an end, accept that you are grieving for the loss. It's as if someone has died and you may feel part of you has died. I know it can feel as if your heart is ripped out of your chest, but I so want to reassure you: it will get better! Take the wonderfully soothing natural remedy Melancholy Lift to calm some of that sadness, grief and weepiness. Meditate - I promise you that you'll very quickly feel a great deal better. Talk to a professional relationship counselor Choose any of these - the worse thing you can do is do nothing but sit and ruminate!

Here are six steps to feeling yourself again: • Mourn: You sacrificed a lot for your marriage and it didn't work out. Feeling hurt, anger, remorse, guilt, or shame is normal. You will have to go through the steps of grief one by one: denial, bargaining, anger, depression and acceptance. Get a good therapist and grieve properly. You may still be angry with your narcissistic ex wife or your adulterous husband, and that is a part of the healing process. If, however, you get stuck in one of the phases of grief like anger or depression, make sure that you're in good hands. • • Admit: Admit that you cannot control everything. It is hardly productive to focus on the "what ifs" of the past. Admit that breaking up cost you something -- be it emotionally, financially, or both. Bad things do happen to good people. • ! • Trust: Have faith that you won't feel like this forever. Healing is what your body and soul really wants. And healing is what your children want. Perhaps this is an opportunity for spirituality. Many people are comforted by the sense of being held by a God who cares. If you're not inclined toward religion, perhaps get in touch with the grandness of the world. See your story as the part of a complete human experience. Meditate and observe. It can liberate. • ! • Forgive: Forgive yourself, forgive the universe, and if possible, forgive your ex. Understand that everyone carries their own injuries, and that he or she may be fighting his or her own demons. • ! • Make Centered Decisions: To forgive is not to forget. Become more aware so that you can move forward. If this means self-protection, then selfprotect. If it means allowing your kids to see an ex you hate, but who is a loving parent, allow it to happen. Wounds of the past should not prevent you from making sound decisions. Plus, taking care of business properly feels good. • Accept: You are now in a place where you can understand what happened to you more clearly. Maybe your narcissistic husband or boyfriend did not truly love you. Acceptance is necessary, and at some point, you need not fight the past. It means seeing things clearly.

Health Genital Herpes % What is genital herpes? Genital herpes is an STD caused by two types of viruses. The viruses are called herpes simplex type 1 and herpes simplex type 2. How common is genital herpes? Genital herpes is common in the United States. In the United States, about one out of every six people aged 14 to 49 years have genital herpes. How is genital herpes spread? You can get herpes by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the disease. Fluids found in a herpes sore carry the virus, and contact with those fluids can cause infection. You can also get herpes from an infected sex partner who does not have a visible sore or who may not know he or she is infected because the virus can be released through your skin and spread the infection to your sex partner(s). How can I reduce my risk of getting herpes? The only way to avoid STDs is to not have vaginal, anal, or oral sex. If you are sexually active, you can do the following things to lower your chances of getting herpes: • Being in a long-term mutually monogamous relationship with a partner who has been tested and has negative STD test results; • Using latex condoms the right way every time you have sex. Herpes symptoms can occur in both male and female genital areas that are covered by a latex condom. However, outbreaks can also occur in areas that are not covered by a condom so condoms may not fully protect you from getting herpes. I'm pregnant. How could genital herpes affect my baby? If you are pregnant and have genital herpes, it is even more important for you to go to prenatal care visits. You need to tell your doctor if you have ever had symptoms of, been exposed to, or been diagnosed with genital herpes. Sometimes genital herpes infection can lead to miscarriage. It can also make it more likely for you to deliver your baby too early. Herpes infection can be passed from you to your unborn child and cause a potentially deadly infection (neonatal herpes). It is important that you avoid getting herpes during pregnancy. If you are pregnant and have genital herpes, you may be offered herpes medicine towards the end of your pregnancy to reduce the risk of having any symptoms and passing the disease to your baby. At the time of delivery your doctor should carefully examine you for symptoms. If you have herpes symptoms at delivery, a ‘C-section’ is usually performed.!

Fast facts about herpes • People who have genital herpes can have sex. They should avoid sexual contact if they have symptoms. Wearing condoms helps prevent passing it on. • More than 50% of the population of the USA has herpes. Most of them don't know it. • Receiving oral sex from somebody who has cold sores around their mouth significantly raises the risk of becoming infected. • You cannot get genital herpes from a toilet seat. • Genital herpes can spread from one part of your body to another. • If you never have symptoms, this does not mean you do not have genital herpes. • Stress can trigger a recurrence of symptoms. • People who have genital herpes are more susceptible to HIV. Genital herpes cannot make you sterile.

How do I know if I have genital herpes? Most people who have herpes have no, or very mild symptoms. You may not notice mild symptoms or you may mistake them for another skin condition, such as a pimple or ingrown hair. Because of this, most people who have herpes do not know it. Genital herpes sores usually appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals, rectum or mouth. The blisters break and leave painful sores that may take weeks to heal. These symptoms are sometimes called “having an outbreak.” The first time someone has an outbreak they may also have flu-like symptoms such as fever, body aches, or swollen glands. Repeat outbreaks of genital herpes are common, especially during the first year after infection. Repeat outbreaks are usually shorter and less severe than the first outbreak. Although the infection can stay in the body for the rest of your life, the number of outbreaks tends to decrease over a period of years. You should be examined by your doctor if you notice any of these symptoms or if your partner has an STD or symptoms of an STD, such as an unusual sore, a smelly discharge, burning when urinating, or, for women specifically, bleeding between periods. How will my doctor know if I have herpes? Often times, your healthcare provider can diagnose genital herpes by simply looking at your symptoms. Providers can also take a sample from the sore(s) and test it. Have an honest and open talk with your health care provider and ask whether you should be tested for herpes or other STDs. Can herpes be cured? There is no cure for herpes. However, there are medicines that can prevent or shorten outbreaks. One of these herpes medicines can be taken daily, and makes it less likely that you will pass the infection on to your sex partner(s). What happens if I don't get treated? Genital herpes can cause painful genital sores and can be severe in people with suppressed immune systems. If you touch your sores or the fluids from the sores, you may transfer herpes to another part of your body, such as your eyes. Do not touch the sores or fluids to avoid spreading herpes to another part of your body. If you touch the sores or fluids, immediately wash your hands thoroughly to help avoid spreading your infection.

!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some people who get genital herpes have concerns about how it will impact their overall health, sex life, and relationships. It is best for you to talk to a health care provider about those concerns, but it also is important to recognize that while herpes is not curable, it can be managed. Since a genital herpes diagnosis may affect how you will feel about current or future sexual relationships, it is important to understand how to talk to sexual partners about STDs. You can find one resource here: GYT Campaign. If you are pregnant, there can be problems for you and your unborn child. See “I’m pregnant. How could genital herpes affect my baby?” Look above for information about this. Can I still have sex if I have herpes? If you have herpes, you should tell your sex partner(s) and let him or her know that you do and the risk involved. Using condoms may help lower this risk but it will not get rid of the risk completely. Having sores or other symptoms of herpes can increase your risk of spreading the disease. Even if you do not have any symptoms, you can still infect your sex partners. What is the link between genital herpes and HIV? Genital herpes can cause sores or breaks in the skin or lining of the mouth, vagina, and rectum. The genital sores caused by herpes can bleed easily. When the sores come into contact with the mouth, vagina, or rectum during sex, they increase the risk of giving or getting HIV if you or your partner has HIV.

Beauty Beauty Marks !

Beauty marks are small, black or brown, singular moles on the face, neck, or shoulders that have aesthetic appeal. Both men and women can have them, but they are more commonly associated with women. For hundreds of years, facial moles have gone in and out of fashion in various cultures, and they have been so popular that people used cosmetics or adhesive patches to create artificial ones. The size and placement of these marks has also been historically associated with a number of superstitions. Physical Attributes Physically, beauty marks are the same as any other mole or nevus. Made up of clusters of pigment under the skin, moles can be as tiny as a pinpoint, and most are smaller than 0.25 inches (6 mm). They may be raised or flat, smooth or hairy. Just like other moles, they have the potential to change over time. In some situations, they can be cancerous and lead to a malignant form of skin cancer called melanoma. As Compared to Moles The difference between a beauty spot and a mole is subjective. Usually, a single mole found on the upper parts of the body and face may be called a beauty mark. Freckles, since they commonly occur in multiples, are not the same thing, even if they are found in the same area. Large and irregularly shaped moles are usually not considered aesthetically pleasing, and so aren't beauty marks either. The most attractive ones are generally those that are sized and placed to emphasize and complement other parts of the body, like the lips, eyes, or forehead. Ones that are in the middle of features, like the nose or chin, may not be considered as attractive. Fashion Trends and Superstitions People have been creating false beauty spots with make-up and small adhesive patches since the Renaissance Period. During the 18th century, artificial facial moles were immensely popular in France and England, and they were often made in whimsical designs like stars, hearts, and crescent moons. They were typically used to cover up less attractive features, like pimples or scars. A fascination with nevi of all sorts spurred superstitions in Asian and European cultures, which allegedly predicted character traits based on the placement of moles on the body. For instance, some people believe that a mole near the eyebrows represents a strong personality, while others believe that one in the center of the forehead represents creativity. Artificial Beauty Marks Artificial moles continue to be popular. Special cosmetics and adhesives are created specifically for temporary beauty spots, but some people also get permanent ones tattooed onto their skin. Others get facial piercings to get the same look, such as a round, metal stud to the right of the mouth, known as “The Marilyn.” People who want a less permanent solution often just draw a temporary beauty mark on with black or brown eye liner.

Vyshon King Miller brother of Percy Miller (Master P) and Corey Miller (C - Murder) and three other siblings, rose to stardom in the late 1990s with his debut single, “The Shocker. He originally went under the stage name Silkk, but later adopted The Shocker after his debut studio album in 1996. However it was his own hit off of his album Charge it 2 Da Game "It Ain't My Fault", featuring label mate MYSTIKAL in 1998 that garnered the most attention and eventually became his most well-known hit. He’s released two solo albums, My World, My Way, in 2001, and Based On a True Story in 2004, and although neither release generated the same publicity he enjoyed in the late 1990s, the last album managed to sell very well. Intro 1 2. "A"…S*** done got real 3. Hustlin’ and Grindin' 4. How I Get Down 5. I Isn’t About To Fall In Love 6. Living Life 7. No Patience 8. Never Give Up …which he basically talks about being a hard worker, being frustrated and only human! After the listening session i truly felt this CD would go down as a Mook Da Star classic! Jackie Robinson West Little League

‘The Pride Of Chicago'

!

The Jackie Robinson West team became the first all-black team from Chicago to reach the Little League World Series in three decades. These 11- and 12-year-olds young inner city guys. Although they fell short of winning a world title, their standing as the U.S. champion cant be denied!

The Chicago-based Jackie Robinson West Little League founded in 1971 by Joseph Haley, there were no grand plans of winning state championships or reaching the Little League World Series.

There was a vision of using youth baseball to help black families moving into a previously all-white neighborhood unite and establish a sense of community. Haley died in 2005, but the league he founded has blossomed and been carried forth by his son Bill and his widow, Annie. “I’m sure he never envisioned anything like this,” Bill Haley said. A team of Jackie Robinson West all-stars reached the Little League World Series in 1983. This year, after a drought of 31 years, a team from the league won the Great Lakes regional championship game. ! Along with a team from Philadelphia led by a phenomenal young pitcher, Mo’Ne Davis, Jackie Robinson West became an early World Series story line. They are a positive story to a city that has dealt with nothing but violence and negative media coverage for the last few years.

Before the 1950s, 6.5 ounces was the standard size for soda bottles. Now 20-ounce bottles are standard, but even larger 42-ounce bottles are available, meaning soft drink consumption continues to rise. According to an article published in 2011 in “Preventive Medicine,” in 2009, the average American consumed 31 gallons of regular soft drinks. The calories from the beverages are empty calories with no nutritional value. An occasional soda isn’t going to harm you, but drinking too much may lead to weight gain and health problems. Weight Gain Harvard University states that the increased consumption of sugary beverages, such as soda, is a major factor in the growing obesity epidemic. A 20-ounce soda contains 240 calories while a 64-ounce soft drink contains a whopping 700 calories. Doctors say that if you drink a can of cola every day, you will gain 14 1/2 pounds in a year. Excessive weight gain puts you at risk for diabetes, certain cancers, arthritis, heart disease and stroke. Heart Disease Excessive weight gain contributes to heart disease, but so do the ingredients in soda. Doctors say sodium and caffeine in soft drinks put your heart at risk. Sodium causes you to retain fluid and caffeine elevates your heart rate and blood pressure. An analysis published in 2012 in “Circulation” followed more than 42,000 men and discovered those who drank one sugary drink a day had an increased risk of heart attack compared to those who rarely or never drank sugary beverages. • • Diabetes Most people have a hard time eating just one cookie and that’s because sugar is addictive. If you drink a soft drink, your blood sugar spikes and your body produce insulin to balance that spike. Your blood sugar then crashes and you seek out more sugar-filled soda to compensate. Over time, your body becomes resistant to insulin leaving you unable to metabolize sugar and resulting in diabetes. If you drink one to two soft drinks a day, you increase your risk of Type 2 diabetes by 26 percent, according to a metaanalysis published in 2010 in "Diabetes Care."

Dental Problems If you prefer to avoid the dentist, cut back on soft drinks. The bacteria in your mouth thrive on sugar. They feed on it and produce an acid that wears away your teeth enamel causing cavities. You can cut your cavity risk in half by rinsing your mouth with water immediately after drinking soda. Gout Gout is a condition in which your body has too much uric acid, causing your joints to become swollen and inflamed. Women who drank one sugary beverage a day had a significantly increased risk of gout compared to those who rarely drank sugary beverages.

The celebrated television personality was rushed to the hospital after complications from a throat procedure, from which she could not recover. "Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon."

The problem with your diet For more than 20 years the media has bombarded us with a perpetual diet craze. An avalanche of fad diets are announced one after another as breaking news while producing zero true results. Sure, you may lose 5, 10 or even 20 pounds on a fad diet...but you'll gain it all back and then some. How can I be so confident that your results will be short lived? It's actually a simple concept, and once you understand it you will be forever saved from the tortures of yo-yo dieting. Fad diets saddle you with unreasonable calorie restrictions and some even cut out entire food groups just to produce that short lived drop in weight-a process that is actually harmful to your health. The fad diets also ignore one major component to shaping up: exercise. You see, most fad diets operate on one age-old premise: cut calories, cut calories, cut calories. By restricting the type and amount of food consumed the fad dieter usually sees an immediate drop in weight. If only it stopped there... But it doesn't stop there. Life continues, and the fad dieter returns to their pre-diet eating habits-with one major difference in their body due to the sudden drop in pounds. Their calorie requirements have gotten smaller. In practical terms this means that the dieter will begin gaining weight even though they are eating their normal pre-diet portions. And since exercise hasn't become a part of their routine, the unneeded calories will result in pounds gained. So what's a dieter to do? Find a brand new diet to follow-right? Wrong. There is a way to drop pounds and firm your body, but you won't read about it in the next diet book or hear it on the news. The solution to your fad-dieting nightmare is a lifestyle change. What is a lifestyle change? To change your lifestyle means to replace unhealthy habits with healthy ones, and to do so consistently. It isn't something you do for a week or two, only to revert back your old ways-a lifestyle change redefines who you are. I know this is starting to sound like some heavy stuff, but hear me out. Changing your lifestyle from one that is unhealthy to one that is healthy will be the best thing that you ever do for yourself. Trust me, I help people like you make this change every day with amazing results.

Fact: The shape of your body is the direct result of your current lifestyle. So how do I change my lifestyle? That is a great question, and the answer is actually easier than you might think. Most people who are unhappy with their bodies are really only holding on to a few bad habits. Once these destructive habits are identified and then replaced with healthy habits their body naturally transforms from one that they loathe to one that they are proud of. In other words, to get the body that you want simply determine your unhealthy habits and replace them with healthy ones. Here are the most prevalent unhealthy habits: • The habit of inactivity. Failing to exercise on a consistent basis is one of the most destructive obstacles for your health and figure. (The key word here is consistent. If you aren't exercising at least 34 times each week then you own this habit.) • The habit of overeating. Consuming calories in excess of your daily caloric needs is one of the main reasons that more adults are overweight today than ever before. • The habit of empty calories. Filling your diet with foods that hold little to no nutritional value is a great way to expand your waist. (Hint: if a food item is made up of mainly sugar and/or fat consider it 'empty' calories.) You can lose weight and improve both your appearance and your health. You can look and feel great. You can transform yourself into the person that you've always wanted to be. Don't let another day go by that leaves you a slave to unhealthy habits. Take action now. Call or email me today and together we will recreate your lifestyle and redefine your body. By the way, I should mention another deadly habit that destroys too many people's dreams. The habit of procrastination. How many times have you told yourself that you will start eating healthy tomorrow? How many times have you promised that you would call me to start your personal training program? Each day that you succumb to the habit of procrastination is a day that pulls you farther and farther from your goals.

It's Just a Number We spend so much time worrying about getting the number on the scale to drop that it's easy to get discouraged when your weight loss slows for a time. When you workout hard and eat right your body gains muscle while losing fat—this isn't shown by the number on the scale. It's shown by inches lost, in the way your clothes fit better than ever, and in how you look and feel amazing.

Busted! 5 fitness myths I'm here to warn you of the 5 myths that most people fall for. Don't waste your time on these: Myth #1: Take diet pills to boost your effort. It's so tempting! The commercials make compelling claims about the power of diet pills, but don't fall for it. The 'magic pill' has yet to be discovered (it has been discovered – exercise. It's just not in pill form...). Diet pills are more likely to damage your health and burn your pocketbook than to slim you down. Tip: Don't pop a pill-instead burn calories with exercise. Myth #2: Starve the pounds away. Attempting to lose weight by starving yourself is not only ineffective, it's also dangerous. It may seem that severe calorie restriction would deliver the quickest weight loss, but your body is complex and by doing so you'll disrupt your metabolism and slow your results. Tip: Don't starve yourself-instead eat healthy small meals throughout the day. Myth #3: Do extra crunches to flatten your abs. We all want our midsection to look toned as we stroll down the beach, but excessive crunches aren't the answer for tight abs. In order to achieve a lean look you'll have to focus on burning off the layer of fat that is covering up your abs. Tip: Don't obsess about crunches-instead focus on fat burning. Myth #4: Eat packaged diet foods for speedy results. It is amazing to see the kinds of foods that are packaged as 'diet' or 'weight loss' aids. More often than not these products are packed with refined sugar and other artificial ingredients that your body doesn't need. Tip: Don't eat packaged diet foodsinstead stick with nutritious whole foods. Myth #5: Avoid all carbohydrates in order to slim down. Carbohydrates have been given a bad rap, which is unfortunate because you can (and should) eat carbs while losing weight. The key is to stick with whole grains, oatmeal and brown rice while avoiding processed and refined flours and sugars. Tip: Don't swear off all carbohydrates-instead stick with wholesome carbs.

Now that you know what not to do in order to look great this summer, it's time to go over your beach ready game plan. Here's what you need to know in 3 simple steps: Step One: Cut out the junk. The best way to do this is to start by purging your kitchen. Get rid of sugary, processed and fat-filled foods. Once the junk has been cleared out don't buy any more of it. Remember that your beach ready abs depend on what you eat – don't eat junk! Step Two: Focus on whole foods. Replace the junk food in your life with plenty of the following: cooked and raw vegetables, fresh fruits, whole grains, moderate amounts of seeds and nuts, lean meats and low fat dairy. Clean eating really is that simple. Step Three: Come train with me. This is the most obvious step. You're ready to get into great shape and I'm in a unique position to make that happen for you.

There are many, many reasons as to why one can lose or have a low libido, also a low libido can occur at various stages in our lives and doesn't necessarily mean that you're "getting old". If your libido has been feeling a bit "different" lately or you've noticed that your libido has never really been as high as you'd prefer it to be, read through the below list of causes. Perhaps one of the causes on the list is what's going on inside of your body. Some of these you can rule out with selfassessment but some would require a visit to the visit to the doctor if you feel that they are or may be applicable to you. I've also included ways, natural ways, to help boost your libido so you can get back to enjoying a regular, healthy sex life. Libido Loss Causes and Natural Tips to Help Boost Libido: • Relationship problems • Sexual problems (having sexual issues can cause one to be so anxious about performing that their desire for sex drops) • Emotional stress & Depression • Pregnancy (hormones are going crazy, although can increase libido in many women and/or in late pregnancy) • Nursing • Gaining weight • Infertility issues • Self-image and body issues • Being physically exhausted • PMS • Vitamin & Mineral deficiency (such as having low levels of zinc in system) • Hormone deficiency (testosterone, androgens) • Frequent masturbation • Experiencing a sexual trauma • Illness • Injury or disability • Sleep Apnea • Alcohol and drug use • Birth control • Other miscellaneous drugs (such as allergy medicine). Check the possible side effects of your medication if taking any.

Ways to Help Boost the Libido: • Get plenty of rest. • Reduce your amount of stress. • Exercise. Regular exercise has been shown to boost one's libido and level of testosterone. • Take a daily women's or men's vitamin to be sure you are getting your daily intake of vitamins and minerals. If needed, your doctor can test your blood and alert you if you are low in any vitamins or minerals. • Discuss your relationship issues with your partner and resolve them. If needed, see a relationship or marriage counselor. These issues are hurting your relationship and your sex life. • Work on building positive self-esteem and attitude about your body and sensuality • If you're having issues becoming aroused with a live person, discontinue masturbating until libido is restored. Seek assistance if needed. • Have sex. Easier said than done, I know, but watch or read erotic materials to get yourself going and in the mood so you can have sex (or whatever else may turn you on). The more sex you have, the more of the hormones you create to boost your libido. • Seek treatment for any health problems or illnesses. • Discontinue drug or alcohol abuse. • Natural supplements such as Maca root (my fave), saw palmetto, wild yam, yohimbine, damiana, garlic, gingko biloba, and ginseng have been shown to boost libido. • Other known aphrodisiacs or libido boosters include peppermint, cinnamon, goat weed, L-arginine, pumpkin seeds, cardamom, eggs, dark chocolate, oysters, watermelon (especially yellow fleshed), fish, and avocado.

There is a very deep "hot spot" (erogenous zone) that a woman has in her vagina behind the cervix called the Cul de Sac. It gives her a unique and powerful orgasm, one that's different from the orgasm she gets from a G-spot or A-spot orgasm so knowing about this spot is a MUST for the skilled lover. For this hot spot to be stimulated, her uterine muscles must contract to lift the uterus up off of the vagina and expose the Cul de Sac for stimulation, so she needs to be highly aroused, preferably even have had an orgasm already.
