SEPTEMBER 2018 VOL 2 ISSUE 8

CEO ADDRESS What an exciting month it has been at Florida Hospital North Pinellas. Since the last issue of The North Pinellas Heartbeat, we have announced the new brand, AdventHealth, as well as had a successful Joint Commission survey. As you all may be aware, we were recently visited by Joint Commission for the survey we need to complete every 3 years. Overall, I believe it was a great survey, and there was a lot of good feedback that was provided. On August 14th, we announced the new name of Adventist Health System, which is AdventHealth. You will begin to see messaging regarding this change, which will be completed in January 2019. If you were unable to view the announcement, you are able to view it online via the Arc.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We all know the quality of care provided to our patients by our team members every day, and we want to shout it from the rooftops. If you know of a grateful patient who received excellent care at Florida Hospital North Pinellas and wants to share their experience, please contact the marketing department. In this issue of The North Pinellas Heartbeat, you will also learn about some of the updates from the division, including a very special announcement regarding our partnership with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I hope you enjoy this edition of The North Pinellas Heartbeat, and I look forward to seeing what the rest of this year brings to Florida Hospital North Pinellas. God Bless,

Jason Dunkel President and CEO

HOSPITAL UPDATES JOINT COMMISSION UPDATE Recently, we completed our survey with The Joint Commission. I am pleased to report that the survey went well, and it was very informative and educational. You will be hearing from your leader regarding our survey and areas of improvement we need focus on moving forward. I want to sincerely thank each of you for your active participation this week. The surveyors spoke very highly of our staff, and I am very proud of our team for your dedication to those we serve. I’d like to personally thank Jen Segur, Paula Feit and Dan Grieve for their outstanding work prior to and during the survey. CMS will return for a one-day survey within 45 days. Some areas of improvement include: ensuring there are no power strips in areas unless they are approved by facilities, and two linen carts were not covered, which is an infection control issue.

GREECE CARE PACKAGE As some of you may remember, wildfires raged through a city near Athens, Greece this past July, which resulted in many casualties and injuries. The Tarpon Springs community was heartbroken over the news, which is why Florida Hospital North Pinellas teamed up with Tarpon Springs Mayor, Chris Alahouzos, to put together care packages for the victims. Administration, along with other volunteers from the Emergency Department, got together to package up medical supplies to send to the health center in Greece.

Florida Hospital will soon be AdventHealth. With the name change, the health system will move to being one consumer-centric, connected and identifiable national system of care for every stage of life and health. As part of this transition, all of Adventist Health System’s wholly owned hospitals and hundreds of care sites across its footprint will adopt the AdventHealth name and logo beginning Jan. 2, 2019. The naming structure will allow consumers to more easily distinguish AdventHealth’s care locations and services. While its name is changing, the organization is not changing in ownership or business structure. “We are transforming to be a more consumer-focused health care system to better meet the needs of those we care for and the communities we serve,” said Terry Shaw, president/CEO for Adventist Health System. “Becoming AdventHealth allows us to be a fully integrated and distinguishable health system across all aspects of the care continuum, while also speaking to our Christian healing ministry, message of wholeness and our rich Seventh-day Adventist roots.”

8TH FLOOR TRANSITION We have made a decision on how we will utilize the 8th floor in the future. This floor will be used as an Orthopedic Services floor. We are in the planning phase of this project currently and are the determining renovations and changes required for the transition. Stay tuned for more communication as we have a more definitive timeline on the project.
