AUGUST 2018 VOL 2 ISSUE 7

CEO ADDRESS The month of July has brought a lot of heat and rain to Florida, but that hasn’t slowed down Florida Hospital North Pinellas. We recently had our first annual CREATION Health employee picnic, an ice cream social for our employees, and a meeting with the city regarding our renovation.

WELCOME CONGRESSMAN GUS BILIRAKIS Florida Hospital North Pinellas was proud to welcome Congressman Gus Bilirakis to our hospital on Monday, August 6th.

As you all may be aware, we are in a Joint Commission Survey year, and our survey is right around the corner. Be sure to check out the Joint Commission Safety update in this newsletter so you can ensure your departments are ready for the visit. In this issue of The North Pinellas Heartbeat, you will learn about some of the exciting things going on for our hospital, as well as our division and the entire health system. Last week, you were invited to a special announcement by Terry Shaw, President and CEO of Adventist Health System. We will be hosting this announcement in the AllSpice Cafe on August 14th at 11am. I encourage each of you to attend this special announcement. If you are unable to attend at 11am, we will be showing the announcement again at 12:00 noon. I hope you enjoy this edition of The North Pinellas Heartbeat, and I look forward to seeing what the rest of this summer brings to Florida Hospital North Pinellas. God Bless,

Jason Dunkel President and CEO

HOSPITAL UPDATES MUNROE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER Adventist Health System, the parent company of Florida Hospital, today announced that it has finalized an agreement to officially acquire the 425-bed Munroe Regional Medical Center, Munroe Medical Group and its related outpatient locations, including the TimberRidge free-standing emergency department. It has also finalized the purchase of certain assets. Munroe Regional Medical Center will be renamed Florida Hospital Ocala and will join the West Florida Division as the second largest hospital in the division and the third largest in Adventist Health System. “Munroe Regional Medical Center is a pillar of its community with a legacy of delivering quality care and I am honored that it is now part of our organization,” said Terry Shaw, president/CEO for Adventist Health System. “We look forward to impacting and serving the community both inside and outside of the hospital walls with Christ-centered, whole-person care and delivering on our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ to help residents live healthier lives.” The Florida Hospital network now includes 28 hospitals, 11 of which are in the West Florida Division. “This is a time of growth and expansion for the West Florida Division, and an opportunity to bring our brand of inspired, compassionate care to the Ocala community,” said Mike Schultz, president/CEO of the West Florida Division of Adventist Health System. “We are committed to delivering the best health care in an easy, accessible and affordable way.”

CITY COUNCIL MEETING UPDATE Jason Dunkel, President and CEO, presented Florida Hospital North Pinellas’ request for a long-term lease extension to the City Commision on July 24th. The current lease expires in 2040. Adventist Health System wants an additional 30 years, with options for renewal that could extend the lease into 2095. Commissioners unanimously approved the proposed lease extension on the first reading. The second reading will take place on August 7th and will be put on the ballot for referendum on November 6th if it passes. The Suncoast News published an article on the meeting, which you can see here.

Last week you received a personal invitation from Terry Shaw, President and CEO of Adventist Health System, inviting you to an important announcement regarding the transformation of our organization. This exciting announcement will take place on August 14 at 11:00 a.m. and we will be hosting watch parties across all of our facilities and care locations throughout the country. As a team member at Florida Hospital North Pinellas, we would love for you to join us in the AllSpice CafĂŠ so we can experience this announcement as one team.
