“The world would be poorer without Lucerne. You can only know that, of course, if you’ve seen more of the world.” Jörg G. Bucherer

CARL F. BUCHERER | WATCHMAKERS’ SELECTION

Dear Reader, Our Chairman, Jürg G. Bucherer, once said, “The world would be poorer without Lucerne. You can only know that, of course, if you’ve seen more of the world.” There is a great deal of wisdom in those words. For all of us, our appreciation of the place we call home is influenced by our encounters with the rest of the world. Recently, our interactions with other people and different parts of our planet have been limited by circumstances largely beyond our control. But now, as travel and exploration – activities at the very core of our brand’s identity – return, we look forward to adding new chapters to the travel diary whose first entry was made by Carl Friedrich Bucherer in 1888, when he opened the boutique in Lucerne that sparked his vision of a great global brand. A lot has happened in our over-than-130-year history: we are now present in more than 30 countries. That travel diary is packed full of stories and of challenges overcome, and countless achievements recorded by each generation of the Bucherer family. But it is much more than a souvenir. It is a celebration of all of our hometowns, no matter where they are in the world. And it is a dynamic narrative that can hardly wait to see the next chapter. With this new edition of our Watchmakers’ Selection catalogue, we are pleased to extend an invitation to you to join us on the next leg of our journey. We will embark – as our brand has always done – from Lucerne, but the ports of call will take us all around the world. Carl F. Bucherer would be privileged and honored to have you on board!

The CFB family

MASTERING EXCELLENCE At Carl F. Bucherer, the quest for excellence and outstanding craftsmanship is deeply rooted in our history. That spirit has driven us every day since 1888. It is an integral part of our conviction of being a true and authentic Swiss watch manufacturer. Excellence is a maxim that we adhere to in every aspect of what we do and throughout our entire production process: from the first idea to the final timepiece. Words like mastery, pioneering, mindfulness, and zeitgeist are more than catchy marketing terms. They are values we live by and express with our exceptional watches, handcrafted movements, and enduring commitments. We set the highest standards for the quality of our work. Our timepieces are a compelling testament to this.

LEADER IN PERIPHERAL TECHNOLOGY

There is a reason the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) recognizes Carl F.   Bucherer among its top manufacturers. Carl F. Bucherer has always been known for its pioneering spirit and innovative strength with no limits. In 2008, Carl F. Bucherer became the first watchmaker to develop and launch peripheral technology in series production. Back then, the company rose to the unprecedented challenge of positioning the rotor of an automatic caliber on the periphery of the movement, refining its thickness and revealing the beauty of the mechanism. Today, Carl F. Bucherer is one of Switzerland’s leading watch manufacturers, developing outstanding mechanical movements and functional modules in its own center of excellence and workshops. Carl F. Bucherer is the undisputed leader in peripheral technology.

THE CFB MANUFACTURE CALIBERS WITH PERIPHERAL TECHNOLOGY

Every timepiece has its own beating heart: the movement. Developing a movement calls for an innovative culture, passion, extreme precision, and conceptual finesse – characteristics that Carl F. Bucherer possesses in abundance. A key and patented feature of Carl F. Bucherer are the watchmaking milestones CFB A1000 and CFB A2000 manufacture caliber families that incorporate a bidirectional automatic winding system with a peripheral rotor. In 2008, Carl F. Bucherer established its industry-leading position in the field of peripheral technology with the launch of a major innovation: an automatic movement driven by a bi-directional mechanism, with a peripheral oscillating weight, in a series production. With the CFB MR3000, Carl F. Bucherer sets new horological standards and underscores our leadership in the field of peripheral technology: for the first time, the peripheral rotor is combined not only with a peripherally mounted floating tourbillon, but also with the peripherally mounted minute repeater regulator.

MANERO MINUTE REPEATER SYMPHONY

The Manero Minute Repeater Symphony is the most extraordinary timepiece that Carl F. Bucherer has created in a history spanning more than 130 years, and it is literally ringing in a new era. With its extremely complex mechanism, Carl F. Bucherer not only demonstrates the highest level of manufacturing competence, but also underlines its leading role in the field of peripheral technology, for which it has paved the way. It’s fair to say that this timepiece sets new standards in peripheral technology. It features three peripheral movement elements, all developed in-house and patented by Carl F. Bucherer: the peripheral rotor that we patented in 2008, the floating tourbillon we launched 10 years later, and a minute repeater complication with a peripherally mounted regulator, launched in 2021.

9

CARL F. BUCHERER | WATCHMAKERS’ SELECTION

CFB MR3000 MANUFACTURE CALIBER

Peripheral Triad The elaborately finished and COSC-certified manufacture movement with a 65-hour power reserve now defines a new era in peripheral technology as the beating heart of the Manero Minute Repeater Symphony – the CFB MR3000 combines the most sophisticated complications to create a truly p eripheral symphony and sets new horological standards. For the first time, Carl F. Bucherer’s peripheral rotor is presented not only with a peripherally mounted floating tourbillon, but also with the peripherally mounted minute repeater regulator.

11

CARL F. BUCHERER | WATCHMAKERS’ SELECTION

The Peripheral Winding System Peripheral technology, which the CFB MR3000 uses three times, is among the brand’s unmistakable trademark features. It premiered in 2008 with the peripheral rotor. The in-house CFB A1000 manufacture caliber was the first series-production movement ever to feature this technology. Its bidirectional automatic winding mechanism draws its e nergy from a peripheral rotating flywheel. In addition to its efficiency, the narrow rotor also reveals the beauty of the movement.

The Peripheral Tourbillon The tourbillon – the classic complication designed to offset the effects of gravity on the accuracy of the watch – is another great highlight of the art of watchmaking. The watchmakers at Carl F. Bucherer made it float – the cage of the minute tourbillon is supported peripherally by three frictionless ceramic ball bearings that are invisible to the viewer. They e nsure stability and precise guidance – a sophisticated design for which Carl F. Bucherer holds a patent.

13

CARL F. BUCHERER | WATCHMAKERS’ SELECTION

The Peripheral Regulator Repeater watches feature what is arguably the most a dmired of all complications. With its ingenious striking mechanism, hours, quarter hours, and minutes can be reproduced acoustically, giving time an additional, sensual dimension. The Manero Minute Repeater Symphony takes up the classic minute repeater and implements it innovatively – in unmistakable Carl F. Bucherer style. Its mechanism is finely orchestrated and generates two distinct tones. The gongs can be admired, most unusually, through cutouts at the edge of the dial. They are supplemented by openings at 5 o’clock and 7 o’clock, through which the work of the hammers can be observed. A window above 6 o’clock sets the scene for the innovative regulator of the watch. This element sets the rhythm of the beats. In the Manero Minute Repeater Symphony, the regulator is mounted peripherally for the first time – a nother development for which Carl F. Bucherer has the patent.

CREATING THE ONE-OF-A-KIND WATCH OF YOUR DREAMS

The Manero Minute Repeater Symphony is a breathtaking blend of craftsmanship and art. But Carl F. Bucherer’s watchmakers have the expertise to individualize this masterpiece, creating the one-of-a-kind watch of your dreams. Each watch can be customized according to the customer’s wishes. For example, you can choose the color of the dial, the hands, the movement, and the oscillating weight. The choice of materials and their surface treatments – including engraving – is also yours. Of course, you can also select exactly the strap or the bracelet that perfectly complements your unique vision. Or add a brief personal message that only you can read. Your imagination and personality are unique. Your Carl F. Bucherer timepiece can be too. By the way, this not only applies to the Manero Minute Repeater Symphony. Every Carl F. Bucherer timepiece powered by our peripheral technology can be specially customized.

A TRIBUTE TO OVER 130 YEARS OF WATCHMAKING HERITAGE

The Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheral is limited to just 88 timepieces – an homage to 1888, the year Carl F. Bucherer was founded. Its elaborately finished 18-karat rose gold case reflects the golden luster of the baroque city of Lucerne. Another homage to the birthplace of the brand is the movement bridge crafted in 18-karat white gold, with the hand-engraved Chapel Bridge, the result of more than two weeks of meticulous craftsmanship. At the heart of the Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheral Limited Edition is the in-house, COSC-certified CFB T3000 caliber, featuring a tourbillon with a floating appearance and an automatic winding system that are both mounted peripherally – a worlds first. As a special tribute to the rich heritage of the brand and this limited-edition timepiece, the movement’s peripheral rotor is crafted in 22-karat rose gold – a perfect match to the watch case, which is made of 18-karat rose gold.

THE MANERO TOURBILLON DOUBLEPERIPHERAL

Carl F. Bucherer demonstrates its innovative capacity with the introduction of the Manero Tourbillon DoublePeripheral featuring the COSC-certified CFB T3000 movement. It is a world first, developed entirely in-house, combining a peripheral automatic winding system and a peripherally mounted tourbillon that appears to float. Such a unique tourbillon deserves our full attention; prominently placed at 12 o’clock, it is a real eye-catcher. The tourbillon cage, which rotates around its own axis once every minute, features a second hand that acts as a seconds display. A further distinctive feature is the stop-seconds function, which allows for the rotation of the tourbillon cage to be stopped. THE MANERO PERIPHERAL BIGDATE: MANUFACTURE COMPETENCE AND THE SPIRIT OF INNOVATION

The Manero Peripheral BigDate is based on all the characteristics that define Carl F. Bucherer today: a long history, a proud heritage, a founding family, a cutting-edge manufacturer, the skills of some of the world’s most talented watchmakers, and, of course, the innovation that has established the brand as the industry leader in peripheral technology: the striking contemporary timepiece is equipped with the brand’s CFB A2011 caliber, an automatic mechanical movement with a peripheral rotor. The Manero Peripheral BigDate was created for women and men who will appreciate the eye-catching dial distinguished by its contrasting small-seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The effect is complemented by a power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock, a day-ofthe-week aperture at 9 o’clock, and, finally, the feature that gives the watch its name: the big date window at 10 o’clock.

THE HERITAGE BICOMPAX ANNUAL HOMETOWN EDITIONS

Rooted in the Heart of Switzerland … Carl F. Bucherer will always have a powerful connection to the city of Lucerne, where it was founded in 1888. As a truly global brand, though, it also has strong links to some of the world’s most popular places and, with its Heritage BiCompax Annual Hometown Editions, it honors Lucerne and other cities it is proud to call home. … but at Home Everywhere in the World. Carl F. Bucherer is resolutely Swiss, so it should come as no surprise that seven of the watches in the collection pay homage to some great places in its home country: Lucerne is one of them, of course, and it is joined by Basel, Bern, Geneva, St. Gallen, Zermatt, and Zurich. Three of Switzerland’s neighboring countries – Austria, France, and Germany – are represented by editions dedicated to Vienna, Paris, Berlin, and Munich. Furthermore, models have also been created to honor five other global capitals: Beijing, London, Mumbai, New York, and Tokyo. And we look forward to celebrating more of our hometowns soon – stay tuned to discover the new editions.

A FAMILY CAR THAT INSPIRED CARL F. BUCHERER’S WATCHMAKERS

The Carl F. Bucherer limited-edition Heritage BiCompax Annual Lucerne was inspired by a classic Lincoln Cosmopolitan Town Sedan with a remarkable history. In 1949, the car originally belonged to Carl Eduard Bucherer, the son of our founder, Carl Friedrich Bucherer. It changed hands several times over the years. In 2013, however, Jörg G. Bucherer, Carl Eduard’s son, was able to buy the family car and have it restored to its original glory. The new watch, with color details inspired by the restored automobile, is a tribute to the Bucherer family, to a remarkable automobile, and to Carl F. Bucherer’s hometown of Lucerne.

COSMOPOLITAN SINCE 1888 At Carl F. Bucherer, we have been driven by a passion for travel and exploration since Carl Friedrich Bucherer opened his first boutique for watches and jewelry in Lucerne in 1888, and the same sense of adventure remains an important part of our identity. Nearly 135 years ago, members of our founding family started looking for ways to take their Swiss watchmaking values to distant lands across the sea. It seems quite fitting that, a century later, we still make some of the finest travel watches in the world.

FOR SPORTS ENTHUSIASTS, FOR ADVENTURERS, AND FOR A GOOD CAUSE: THE PATRAVI SCUBATEC BLACK

The Patravi ScubaTec Black is striking, powerful, resilient – and dressed in deep black. Thanks to its water resistance of 50 bar (500 m) and certified chronometer precision, it is up for any adventure above or below water. Part of the proceeds from this watch will once again go to a project close to the company’s heart: the Manta Trust, which is committed to preserving manta rays and their habitats. Also, in this version, the rubber strap’s textile insert is made of 100 % recycled plastic bottles recovered from the oceans, a contribution to environmental protection and sustainability. This striking timepiece is distinguished by a DLC-coated titanium case back featuring a detailed engraving of the extraordinary creatures that inspired it: the manta rays.
