He has been a finalist for the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters “Indiana Sportscaster of the Year” eleven times and has been awarded four times (2002, 2005, 2008, 2010). In 2010, he was inducted into the Indiana Sportscasters Hall of Fame. He has also been awarded the Indiana Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association’s “Marv Bates Indiana Sportscaster of the Year.” Paul also has a distinguished career covering Indiana high school sports, honored by the Indiana Football Coaches with the State Media Award in 1995, the Indiana Basketball Coaches Virgil Sweet Outstanding Service Award in 1996, and the IHSAA Distinguished Service Award in 1999.
