المؤتمر الدولي حول «توجهات تكنولوجيا »2010 المعلومات وتطبيقاتها برعاية كرمية من سمو الشيخ عمار بن حميد ول��ي عهد،النعيمي عجمان رئيس اجمللس نظمت كلية،التنفيذي تكنولوجيا املعلومات بجامعة عجمان للعلوم والتكنولوجيا مؤمترها الدولي األول حتت عنوان «توجهات تكنولوجيا بالتعاون مع اجلمعية الدولية للمهندسني،»2010 املعلومات وتطبيقاتها و12 و11 وذلك أيام، واجلمعية البريطانية للحاسوب،الكهربائيني واإللكترونيني . مبركز الشيخ زايد ملؤمترات واملعارض في مقر اجلامعة بعجمان2010 ديسمبر13 بحضور سمو2010 ديسمبر12 وقد افتتح املؤمتر رسميا صبيحة يوم األحد رئيس الدائرة االقتصادية وممثل حاكم عجمان،الشيخ أحمد بن حميد النعيمي رئيس دائرة، وسمو الشيخ راشد بن حميد النعيمي،للشؤون اإلدارية واملالية البلدية والتخطيط بإمارة عجمان ورئيس مجلس إدارة جامعة عجمان للعلوم وضيف الشرف صاحب السمو امللكي األمير تركي بن طالل بن عبد،والتكنولوجيا وسعادة، مستشار رئيس مجلس أمناء اجلامعة العربية املفتوحة،العزيز آل سعود وعدد، نائب رئيس اجلامعة للشؤون اإلدارية واملالية،األستاذ ثامر سعيد سلمان من مدراء ومسؤولي الدوائر احلكومية إلى جانب عمداء الكليات باجلامعة وضيوف .املؤمتر واملشاركني

Dean’s Message Dear Students
The first semester is over. I hope your results were up to your expectations. If not, you still have the second semester to catch-up. Take a good break during the mid-year vacation and figure out what went wrong and how you can improve. Some of you will graduate and leave the college. On behalf of my colleagues, I would like to wish them a successful career. In this issue of the IT Bulletin, you will find an extensive coverage of the International Conference on Trends in Information Technology and Applications (ICTITA 2010) that was organized and hosted by the IT College at Ajman University of Science & Technology last December. The International Conference on Trends in Information Technology and Applications (ICTITA 2010) Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ajman Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council, the College of Information Technology at Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST), in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the British Computer Society (BCS), organized its first international conference themed “Trends in Information Technology and Applications 2010” from 11th to 13th December 2010 at AUST Sheikh Zayed Center for Conferences and Exhibitions. The conference was officially inaugurated on Sunday in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Economic Department and Representative of the Ruler of Ajman for Financial and Administrative Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department and Chairman of AUST Board of Directors; and H.R.H. Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Advisor to the Chairman of the Arab Open University Board of Trustees who was the conference’s guest of honor. Mr. Thamer Saeed Salman, AUST Vice-President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; in addition to a number of directors and officials from governmental departments as well as AUST Deans and guests and participants also attended this event.

Evolution in UAE: Conference Activities: The three-day conference, which brought together IT experts, researchers, academician and professionals, presented a rich and diversified technical program covering various areas of information technology. The conference program consisted of three keynote addresses, four sessions and one workshop, with a total number of twenty papers being presented.
The UAE is one of the first Gulf countries, which focused on technology and the use of advanced software to facilitate services to citizens and expatriates. The conference included a keynote presentation entitled “E-Notary Services: A Case Study,” given by Mr. Abdulrahim AlMudhareb (IT Director, Dubai Courts, UAE) and Dr. Osman Zafar from Al-Taqnya (UAE) in which they discussed an application developed for Dubai Courts using Adobe LC technology to allow citizens apply for notary services and book appointments with Notary Public Personnel online.
Conference Sponsors: The conference held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ajman Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council, was sponsored by group of computer companies and organizations namely, Intel Company, Acer Company, Dell Company, BCS institution, and IEEE organization. Intel has allocated 4 Laptops and 4 CPUs as gifts to be distributed to students by the end of the conference. The IT College decided to hand over two of them during the conference and the other two for the best report on the conference to be submitted by students at the end of the current semester.

كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات،أستاذ مساعد قدم الدكتور مصعب احلنيطي مؤخرا نتائج بحثه حول الترجمة اآللية اإلحصائية في املؤمتر الدولي »،لـ»توجهات تكنولوجيا املعلومات وتطبيقاتها وتعد الترجمة اآللية.الذي أقيم بجامعة عجمان اإلحصائية من التخصصات اجلديدة التي تهدف وقد تزايدت.إلى الترجمة بني زوج من اللغات احلاجة إلى الترجمة اآللية السيما مع انتشار تطبيقات اإلنترنت احلديثة مثل فيسبوك و حيث قد يستخدم الزائرون لهذه املواقع،يوتيوب وقد يرغبون في تبادل،التطبيقات نفسها ويرى.احملتوى مع أشخاص ال يفهمون لغتهم الدكتور مصعب بأن الترجمة بني اللغات التي لها موارد محدودة مثل العربية والدامنركية هو لذلك فقد صمم نظاما جديدا يترجم،حتد كبير من الدامنركية إلى العربية باستخدام اإلجنليزية وقد لقي هذا العمل استحسان العديد.وسيطا من مقدمي خدمات الترجمة اآللية من قبيل غير أن الدكتور مصعب. وبابلفيش، وياهو،غوغل يقول بأن الترجمة اآللية اإلحصائية هي توجه جديد مازال في حاجة إلى جهود عظيمة كي .ينمو ويتطور

Business-IT Alignment as A Governance Mechanism from: Dr Mounir El Khatib
Assistant Professor , college of information technology Alignment is at the heart of business of IT issues as per the “CIO business challenges” and “Top business-IT issues” revealed by the 13th annual survey of the Association for Federal Information Resources Management (AFFIRM). It is even tougher to keep business and IT aligned as business strategies and technology evolve. The key is in building the appropriate relationships and processes, and providing the necessary training. Traditionally, Business-IT alignment is defined as applying IT resources in an appropriate and timely way, in harmony with business strategies, goals, and needs. Alignment addresses both doing the right things (effectiveness), and doing the things right (efficiency) in relation to the objectives of business units. Strategically, Business-IT alignment is defined by the relationships that exist between the following four pillars:
Machine Translation from Dr. Mus’ab Hanaity
Assistant Professor , college of information technology Recently Dr. Mossab has presented his research findings in Statistical Machine Translation (SMT) at the International Conference on Trends in Information Technology and Applications 2010 which was held in Ajman University. SMT is a new trend in translation between language pairs. Automatic translation is needed for the modern internet applications like Facebook and YouTube where many people with different languages might be using the same application and want to share the same content. Translating between language pairs with limited resources like Danish and Arabic is a challenging task, Said Dr. Mossab. So he developed a new automatic system that translates to Arabic from Danish using English as a median language. This work is appreciated by many translation vendors like Google, Yahoo and Bubblefish. Statistical Machine Translation is a new trend in translation and needs many efforts to develop.

Professor Luftman J. developed a methodology for assessing a company’s alignment, focused on six strategic set of business practice categories - Communications, Competency/Value Measurements, Governance, Partnership, Technology Scope, and Skills – and their attributes. Each attribute can be in one of the following maturity levels: 1. Initial/Ad Hoc Process 2. Committed Process 3. Established Focused Process 4. Improved/Managed Process 5. Optimized Process Each category can be improved through improving its attributes; meanwhile the overall rank can be improved through improving the categories. This type of assessment will identify where we are and how to move ahead.

Workshops As part of the annual plan for student activities, the College of Information Technology has conducted scientific, artistic and literary workshops, which had a big impact in the development of students’ skills and provided an opportunity for students from other colleges to participate and benefit from them.
The first Workshop: “How to Find a Job” The College hosted the University’s Vice President for External Relations and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Ankit in the workshop entitled “How to get a job”. Dr. Ankit introduced the most important points in writing a CV and the most prominent foundations to be followed when listing the educational and functional sequences. He also introduced models of a good CV and a bad CV, clarifying the major differences between them. On the other hand, Dr. Ankit discussed the foundations to be followed in preparation of a job interview and how to behave in front of the interviewer. At the end of the workshop, Dr. Ankit shared with us some of the common mistakes made by job seekers through his vast experience in this area. The second Workshop: “Adobe Photoshop” The College organized a workshop on how to use the Adobe Photoshop program under the supervision of Sahar Iqbal, a third year student in the Multimedia and Web Development Major. Participants from other colleges expressed their appreciation for organizing this workshop which opened the way for other workshops to be conducted.

Ajman University participates in Enhancing the Arabic Digital Content Workshop
Ajman University took part in a specialized workshop in Damascus entitled “Enhancing the Arabic Digital Content”, under the patronage of the Syrian ministry of higher education, ALECSO (Arabic League) and King Abdel Aziz University (KSA). The workshop gathered many Arabic language scientists from many international universities and research centers. Dr. Mossab Al Hunaity, from the IT College, represented Ajman University with his research in automating the process of Arabic translation to other European languages. With this step Ajman University becomes a partner in a highly reputable network of excellence for professionals in the field of Arabic language automation.

أنشطة الكلية في فرع الفجيرة محمد أمين األحمر. د:بقلم وكيل كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات
كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات مبقر الفجيرة تشارك في معارض وفعاليات املدارس الثانوية تشارك كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات مبقر الفجيرة خالل العام اجلامعي احلالي .في عدد من املعارض والفعاليات التي تنظمها املدارس الثانوية بالفجيرة وكانت املشاركة األولى في يوم اليوبيل اللؤلؤي الذي نظمته املدرسة الهندية بالفجيرة مبناسبة االحتفال بالذكرى الثالثني إلنشائها حيث مثل الكلية عضو هيئة، واألستاذ سيد امتياز، وكيل الكلية،الدكتور محمد أمين األحمر الذيCareer Expo كما شاركت الكلية في معرض.التدريس بالكلية أقيم في املدرسة الثانوية اإلجنليزية بالفجيرة ومثلها الدكتور محمد أمين . وكيل الكلية،األحمر طالب وطالبة ثانوية150 وقد أتاحت هذه املشاركات التواصل مع ما يزيد عن عامة حيث مت تعريفهم بكلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات ومتطلبات القبول واالمتيازات التي تخصصها اجلامعة للطلبة املتفوقني من إعفاءات في،فيها وفرص العمل املتوفرة خلريجي،100% إلى% 25 الرسوم تتراوح ما بني وقد وزع وفد الكلية الهدايا واملطبوعات.تخصصات تكنولوجيا املعلومات ومن املقرر كذلك أن تشارك.التعريفية والترويجية على طلبة الثانوية العامة .الكلية قريبا في املعرض اخلاص مبدرسة القديسة مرمي الثانوية بالفجيرة
طلبة املدرسة الباكستانية بالفجيرة يحضرون دورة تدريبية مجانية في مختبرات كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات مبقر الفجيرة زار وفد يضم مدير املدرسة الباكستانية بالفجيرة وأساتذة وطلبة الثانوية العامة كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات مبقر الفجيرة حيث استضافهم املقر في عقدت،دورة تدريبية مجانية حول شبكات الكمبيوتر وقد كان.في مختبرات كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات وكيل،في استقبال الوفد الدكتور محمد أمين األحمر ، منسق الدورة التدريبية، واألستاذ سيد امتياز،الكلية حيث رافقا الوفد الزائر في جولة تعريفية داخل احلرم باإلضافة إلى،اجلامعي شملت مختلف املرافق اجلامعية .مختبرات كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات وبعد انتهاء الدورة التدريبية مت تقدمي الضيافة والهدايا التذكارية واملطبوعات الترويجية ملدير املدرسة الباكستانية واألساتذة والطلبة الذين أعربوا عن شكرهم لكلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات حيث حققت لهم هذه الزيارة والدورة التدريبية املتعة والفائدة والتعرف عن قرب على كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات وتخصصاتها .واجملاالت الوظيفية خلريجيها

Fujairah Activities From: Dr. Mohammed Ayman Al Ahmar

Fujairah IT College Participates in School Exhibitions and Events The College of Information Technology in Fujairah Campus is participating during this academic year in various exhibitions and events organized by secondary schools in Fujairah. The first participation was in the Pearl Jubilee Day organized by the Fujairah Indian School, in celebration of its 30th anniversary. The College was represented by the Deputy Dean Dr. Mohammed Ayman Al-Ahmar, and faculty member Mr. Syed Imtiaz. The College also participated in the Career Fair organized by Our Own English High School in Fujairah. The Deputy Dean Dr. Mohammed Ayman Al-Ahmar represented the College in this event. Thanks to such participations, the College representatives were able to communicate with more than 150 pre-university students during these activities. At each event the College delegation introduced the College of IT and its admission requirements, fee exemptions for outstanding students that range between 25% to 100% and career opportunities for IT graduates. Gifts and promotional brochures were also distributed. The IT College in Fujairah Campus will also take part soon in the coming exhibition of St. Mary’s High School in Fujairah.
Pakistani School Students Attend a Free Training Session in Fujairah IT College Labs A delegation of the Pakistani School in Fujairah including the school principal, teachers, and grade 12 students visited the College of IT in Fujairah Campus where they were hosted during a free training session on computer networks held in the IT labs. The visitors were received by the Deputy Dean Dr. Mohammed Ayman Al Ahmar and the training session instructor Mr. Syed Imtiaz. The delegation had the chance to tour Ajman University’s Campus in Fujairah and discover the various facilities and labs the campus boasts. After the conclusion of the training session, gifts and promotional publications were distributed to the visitors. The participants thanked the College of IT for inviting them to this visit and for organizing this IT training session which enabled them to learn more about the IT College, its specializations, and the career opportunities it offers its graduates.
