42nd UAE National Day
Dear students, First and foremost, as the United Arab Emirates celebrated its 42nd National Day on the 2nd of December, AUST faculty and staff members of the College of Information Technology would like to take this opportunity to congratulate His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and the UAE government, people, and residents on this occasion. On behalf of our faculty and staff, I would like to welcome all students at the College of Information Technology, which offers the most up-to-date curricula in Information Technology, Information Systems, and Computer Engineering. The IT College is committed to offer quality programs that prepare our students to meet rigorous demands of the national and regional job market. It offers also integration of theory and practice components taught by well-qualified faculty, giving our students the opportunity to become lifelong learners who are critical thinkers able to evaluate problems and develop real-world solutions. It is worth mentioning that all our academic programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Finally, as we progress into the future through new exciting IT technologies and trends, our academic programs will continue to evolve according to these new trends. His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman attended a ceremony organized by Ajman University of Science and Technology to celebrate the 42nd UAE National Day. During the event His Highness Ajman Ruler hoisted the UAE flag, launching officially the start of the celebration activities, which included a parade attended by HH Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council; HH Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department; Sheikh Dr. Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Diwan; and Brigadier Sheikh Sultan Al Nuaimi, Deputy Commander General of Ajman Police; Mr. Ali Hassan Mohamed Hassan, Director of Ajman Educational Zone; Mr. Abdullah Mowaji, Chairman of Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Professor Walid al-Hashemi, Director General of the Department of Finance and Administration at Ajman Diwan; Eng.

ITBulletin Khaled Saeed Salman, member of AUST Board of Trustees; and Mr. Osama Saeed Salman, AUST Vice President; as well as assistants of the university president, in addition to AUST deans, heads of departments and a large crowd of AUST faculty, staff and students. The celebrations included folk dances and heritage collectibles, such as traditional weapons, copperware, pottery, and weaving tools. AUST main building, J2, played host to stands representing the University’s different colleges. Sharjah Police Band and Haboos Dance Troop were presented and performed throughout the whole ceremony. Osama Saeed Salman, Vice President of Ajman University stated that the UAE National Day is a day to celebrate all the principles instilled by the founding fathers when they raised the national flag for the first time in December 2, 1971. “Today, as individuals and institutions, citizens and residents, are joining hands and rallying around the country, the meaning of the National Day becomes clearer.” said AUST Vice President, adding, “It means unison at times of division, construction at times of destruction, and security and stability at times of strives and insecurity. The National Day is the UAE’s consensus on our wise leadership, our federation and our loyalty to this nation.” Mr. Salman went on to say the celebration of this occasion by AUST students, faculty and staff is a genuine expression of their love and loyalty to this great nation and to our wise leadership.

اشتملت الفعاليات عىل الرقصات الشعبية ونماذج من املقتنيات التاريخية ومنها األسلحة التقليدية والنحاسيات والفخاريات وأدوات وذلك عىل أنغام الفرقة،الغزل والنسيج املوسيقية العسكرية واألناشيد الوطنية يف كما شملت الفعاليات.تعبري عن حب الوطن استعرضت،معرضا لكليات الجامعة الثمانية فيه الكليات احتفالها باليوم الوطني بأسلوب .متميز وجذاب وقد جال املوكب فعاليات الطلبة التي أقيمت ،يف مختلف مداخل وردهات الحرم الجامعي والتي تخللتها عدة عروض فنية وتراثية تربز أصالة الرتاث اإلماراتي والهوية الوطنية ونبل إضافة إىل،قيم وتقاليد الشعب اإلماراتي تقديم عرض اليولة من بعض طلبة الجامعة .والذي القى إعجاب الطلبة وتفاعلهم معه ،من جانبه قال األستاذ أسامة سعيد سلمان إن االحتفال بذكرى،نائب رئيس الجامعة االتحاد هو احتفال باملبادئ التي رسخها اآلباء املؤسسون حني أعلنوا قيام الدولة ألول مرة يف املغفور- بقيادة1971 الثاني من ديسمرب له بإذن الله – الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل مؤكدا عىل أن االحتفال بهذه املناسبة،نهيان ويف جميع،الغالية عىل قلوبنا يف هذا اليوم أنحاء الدولة؛ أفرادا ومؤسسات مواطنني ، هو احتفال بالوحدة يف زمن الفرقة،ومقيمني واحتفال،واحتفال بالعمار يف زمن الدمار ،باألمن واالستقرار يف زمن الحروب والترشذم واحتفال بالرشعية ووحدة الصف والنهضة .الحقيقة كما لفت إىل أن احتفال طلبة الجامعة و منتسبيها بهذه املناسبة الغالية عىل قلوب كافة اإلماراتيني يأتي تعبريا ً منهم عن حبهم .وانتمائهم لهذا البلد املعطاء وقيادته الرشيدة

Best m-Government Service Award “I want UAE Government services to be delivered to the public through mobile phones” - HH. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum The Government of the United Arab Emirates announced the launch of “Best m-Government service”, which aims to motivate government agencies to provide innovative solutions in the field of smart phone applications, mobile websites and SMS.
The College of Information Technology has attended an educational seminar on the competition and its requirements. This seminar was attended by Dr. Mirna Nachouki, Head of the Information Systems Department, and Dr. Mossab Alhunaity, faculty member in the College of Information Technology, and a group of students participating in the contest. The award’s emphasis is on the efficiency of improving service productivity such as reducing time, effort and cost associated
with the delivery of government services as well as the effectiveness of the m-applications/solutions and ability to solve problems that deals with public service with a high level of impact on society. The college of IT has participated in three projects sponsored by the following ministries: • Ministry of Environment and Water • Ministry of Health • Ministry of Economy Winners will be announced at the Government Summit in February 2014.

يوم عمل في شركة دبي للموانئ العالمية بتنظيم من إدارة الخدمة املجتمعية يف الجامعة شاركت،اإلمارات-بالتنسيق مؤسسة إنجاز مجموعة من الطالبات من ضمنهم سبع طالبات من كلية تكنولوجيا املعلومات يف يوم عمل نظمته ».رشكة «موانئ دبي العاملية كان الهدف الرئييس من هذا الحدث هو مساعدة الطالبات عىل االنخراط يف سوق العمل وتشجيعهن .عىل االنضمام للعمل يف رشكة موانئ دبي العاملية 19 و18 وقد نظم هذا الحدث عىل مدى يومني يف يف اليوم األول قام األستاذ أحمد.2013 نوفمرب بإعطاء الطالبات تدريبا، مدير التدريب،أبوصفية رشح،عن املهارات الالزمة للتقديم عىل الوظائف وكيفية،فيه العوامل الرئيسية ملهارات التواصل أما يف اليوم الثاني فتم.إعداد السرية الذاتية توزيع الطالبات عىل متطوعني من الرشكة للعمل وقد كان رأي. وإعطائهن مهام إلنجازها،معهم متطوعني الرشكة يف الطالبات أنهن يتمتعن بثقة يف النفس وقدرة عىل حل املشاكل وإتمام العمل أما الطالبات فقد كن متحمسات لهذه.بفاعلية التجربة وعربن بأن الزيارة كانت مثمرة ومفيدة .وأن املدربني تميزوا بااللتزام والدقة
ITBulletin Trip to GITEX 2013 The College of Information Technology organized a trip to GITEX on October 2013. As always, the exhibition turned to be an ideal opportunity for IT academics, professionals and students to learn about the latest in information and communications technology. Many leading IT companies were there to present their newest products and show their latest innovations in both computer software and hardware. The trip offered a great chance for our students to enrich their IT knowledge and background.
Job Shadow Day at DP World AUST female students were invited to attend a two-day event themed “Job Shadow Day” in DP World. Among AUST attendees, 7 were from the IT college. This event was organized by the Community Services Department at AUST in collaboration with Injaz-UAE. The main goal of the event is to help students engage in practical work and encourage them to join DP World. The “Job shadow day” took place on 18th and 19th of November 2013. On the first day students attended a training by Mr. Ahmed Abusafi, training manager, who taught them the skills needed in the job market, the main factors of communication skills, and how to prepare a CV. On the second day the students were assigned to volunteers from the company to work with them in the field. The volunteers were very happy to work with our students and they said that AUST students are confident and they could perform all tasks given to them correctly. On their part, the students were delighted to attend the shadow day, and they said “it was a very fruitful visit and the volunteers were very committed and professional”.

Korea Student Trip
رحلة طالبية إلى كوريا
AUST organized a trip to Korea for outstanding students from the Information Technology and Engineering colleges to visit Samsung Company and 2 outstanding universities in South Korea; Yonsei University and Kookmin University. Four students from the college of IT participated in the trip: Maria Jehad, Alia Alnuaimi, Ali Ould mohamdi, and Sameh Alaa Shaker. On this visit, Alia said: “It was a lifetime experience in a very short period of time, Ajman University gave us a valuable opportunity of visiting amazing places that we cannot visit in our normal life. The ability to visit Samsung itself is incredible and watching how new technology can be really useful in education, health, archiving and even smart housing. It was amazing to learn the way of combining human potentials and abilities to achieve what they have achieved today. Among all the students in AUST, I think I am so lucky to have this amazing opportunity and I’d like also to mention that our teachers and guides were so helpful, their effort and help were there whenever we needed. So thanks Dr. Choulo, Dr. Sahar, Engineer Tazeen and big thanks goes to Ajman University”. Student Maria was very happy to visit Yonsei and Kookmin universities and she said: “visiting universities in Korea was the best part of the trip as we had the chance to meet students and professors from a different country. Both universities were very hospitable, Yonsei University allowed us to have a tour in the research center and labs, and they showed us all scientific equipment used in applying researches. نظمت جامعة عجمان رحلة إىل كوريا للطلبة املتميزين من كليتي تكنولوجيا املعلومات والهندسة لزيارة رشكة سامسونج ،وجامعتني من أفضل الجامعات يف كوريا . وجامعة كوكمني،هما جامعة يونيس وقد شارك يف الرحلة أربع طلبة من كلية عليا، ماريا جهاد:تكنولوجيا املعلومات هم . وسامح عالء شاكر، عيل محمدي،النعيمي ال أحد يستطيع وصف الرحلة أفضل من وعن هذه الزيارة.الطلبة الذين شاركوا فيها «لقد كانت هذه الرحلة:قالت عليا النعيمي لقد منحتنا.فرصة عظيمة يف وقت قصري جامعة عجمان فرصة قيمة لالنضمام إىل هذه الرحلة وزيارة أماكن قد ال يتسنى وكانت زيارة رشكة.لنا زيارتها مع األهل سامسونج تجربة فريدة سمحت لنا بمعاينة كيفية ابتكار التكنولوجيا وتوظيفها يف .»التعليم والصحة وحتى يف املنازل الذكية «أعترب نفيس:وقد أضافت الطلبة عليا قائلة محظوظة لحصويل عىل هذه الفرصة وأود ، شولو. د:أن أشكر األساتذة اللذين رافقونا وأتقد بالشكر. واملهندسة تازين، سحر.د .»الخاص إىل جامعة عجمان أما الطالبة ماريا فقد كانت سعيدة بزيارة «زيارة الجامعات:الجامعات الكورية قائلة فقد،الكورية كانت األفضل ضمن الرحلة كانت فرصة رائعة سمحت لنا بمقابلة طلبة كال.وأساتذة من قطاع مختلف من العالم وقد زرنا،الجامعتني استقبلتانا برحابة حيث،مركز األبحاث يف جامعة يونيس تعرفنا عىل األجهزة املستخدمة يف إنجاز أما يف جامعة كوكمن فقد زرنا.األبحاث كما تضمنت.قسم الهندسة الكهربائية .»الرحلة زيارة للمعالم السياحية الشهرية ،كما كان للطالب الذكور أيضا ً رأي إيجابي « الكوريون ليسوا:فقد قال عيل محمدي غري أنهم مجتهدون يف،أذكى من العرب عملهم ومنظمون يف سعيهم للوصول إىل إن زيارة.التميز يف التعليم والبحث العلمي بلد ككوريا قد طور نظرتي للبحث العلمي وأعطاني الفرصة للتواصل مع أشخاص لهم خلفية مميزة يف عالم التكنولوجيا ».وتخصص الهندسة أما الطالب سامح عالء والذي لم يتحمل الجو البارد الذي كانت تصل فيه درجة

Men students had a very good feedback on the visit and student Ali Mohamadi said: “Korean people are no smarter than Arabs, but they are special as a hard-working nation that strives to reach excellence through education and research. And worth mentioning that visiting Korea have developed my perspectives and understanding of academic research and development and gave me the chance to interact with
successful individuals with interesting backgrounds in the IT industry and engineering fields.” And Sameh Alaa couldn’t stand the cold weather which sometimes reached -15°C at night as he said, adding: “going to Korea was an amazing experience, which helped me widen my horizon and gave me good knowledge about Korean culture. In addition visiting a leading company like Samsung took me into another level of awareness. Thanks to Ajman University for providing such a wonderful opportunity to us.”
