Senior Swimmers race at Bath Cup

In March, the senior swim squad travelled to London Olympic Park in order to compete in the Bath Cup, a prestigious competition that attracts many of the United Kingdom’s best independent school swim teams. Upper Sixth pupil Ethan Wright, along with Lower Sixth pupils Lara Keirle, Tamsin Howard, Maddie Wilkins, Mia Coakes Santamaria, Emily Trotman, Devon Mycock and Sebastien Barley, joined forces with Xanthe Knott in Year 11 and Reuben Ashton in Year 9 to represent the School in a series of relay races.

An early start to the day was well rewarded with a personal best time of 2 minutes and 15 seconds in the first event, a 4x50m freestyle relay involving Lara, Tamsin, Xanthe and Mia. This was followed by both the girls’ team, featuring Maddie, Emily, Xanthe and Mia, and the boys’ team, featuring Ethan, Devon, Sebastien and Reuben, taking part in 4x50m medley relays. Both teams swam exceptionally well and showed great promise for future races – so much so that they will be targeting a top 10 finish next year.

Lent Exeat Weekend

52 boarders spent a fun-packed weekend in Okehampton at the Ashbury and Manor House Hotel, where they enjoyed some of their favourite sports, such as badminton, tennis, snooker and table tennis. Four swimming pools were accessible across the site and included flumes, saunas, steam rooms and a hydrospa for those who wanted to relax. Many boarders signed up for more unusual activities and sports, including ten pin bowling, lawn bowls, curling, archery and rifle shooting. Keen golfers were spoilt for choice with a combination of courses to try, a driving range, crazy golf and an indoor simulator. There was also a range of craft options including pottery and jewellery making.
