Backyard Ecology Hall Grand Opening

Saturday, October 5, 2019 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Join us as we commemorate the grand opening of the Mayborn Museum’s new Backyard Ecology Hall. Inspired by Central Texas stories, Baylor research, and natural phenomena, this exciting collection of hands-on experiences will encourage individual discovery and an appreciation for the natural world. The new gallery includes live animals that tell a story about local ecology and traditional museum collection objects while also providing ample creative play experiences for children and families. Visitors can compare their strength to a boa constrictor, learn about the Brazos River through an interactive water table, and experience life as a bee by climbing into a honeycomb. We will be celebrating throughout the day with visits from real scientists and special hands-on activities. From 10:00 am – 1:00 pm help us plant our backyard! Step outside to the historic village to assist with our future bluebonnet garden. Museum members are invited to a ribbon cutting at 9:15 am during member-only hour.
