Hoopiiaina Notes: Entering her third year as Utah starting shortstop and already owns 106 career starts … teams with second baseman Jackie Sweet as Utah’s record-setting double-play combination … is learning to take on more responsibility as an upperclassman … added a lot of ‘pop’ to her swing this fall … will steal a lot of bases this season.

Sweet Notes: Everyday second baseman … teams with shortstop Kelsi Hoopiiaina as Utah’s record-setting doubleplay ... came to Utah before last season with experience at the NCAA Division I level after playing at UC Santa Barbara ... made 28 starts in 38 appearances for the Gauchos in 2010 ... was a member of an accomplished high school team that won the CIF Division I title in 2006 and was the runner-up in 2009.

2010: Started all 55 games at shortstop in her first season with the Utes … posted a .924 fielding percentage … hit for a .243 average, including 11 doubles and four home runs … scored 29 runs … drew 33 walks … stole a pair of bases … had 127 assists and 67 putouts … totaled seven multi-hit performances … hit by pitch three times during league play, which tied for second in the MWC … tied for the single-game high in the conference-only stats with two sacrifice hits against BYU (4/9) … hit by pitch twice against UNLV (5/6), which tied for the league’s single-game high during league play … was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored against Cal State Fullerton (2/20) … had two more 3-for-3 days at the plate: against South Dakota State, that included an RBI, a triple, and a run scored, as well as against Northern Iowa (3/14), to go with an RBI and two runs scored … went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI against Oregon (2/25) ... stole a pair of bases against Idaho State (2/13) … had a season-high eight assists at BYU (4/10) and also turned in a pair of sacrifices against the Cougars.

High School/Travel Ball: First-team all-state and 5A State All-Tournament team selection ... hit .400 in five appearances at the ASA National Championships ... won five State Acceleration championships with the T-Birds ... had a two-run game in 2006 to help the T-Birds defeat the Devastation ... went 2-for-3 against the Chinese Olympic team last summer ... played with Victory USA last summer and hit over .400, striking out only five times ... graduated from Riverton High School with a 3.4 grade-point-average ... nickname is Hoop. 2011: Started 43 games at second base … accumulated a .357 on-base percentage and .426 slugging percentage … helped Utah defense turn 18 double plays … had three different season-high-tying four-game hit streaks … totaled nine extra-base hits (five doubles, three home runs and a triple) … hit a three-run triple and run scored in season opener against Ole Miss (2/10) … had an RBI single against No. 23/22 Oklahoma State (2/13) … went 3-for-4 with a double and her first career home run against No. 9/12 Hawaii (2/18) … connected for two doubles against Virginia (2/24) … had two hits in three at-bats at Florida State (3/6) … was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI against Idaho State (4/1) … laid down two sacrifice bunts in two games against Utah Valley (4/2 and 4/5) … hit a solo home run in 3-2 win at San Diego State (4/14) … connected on her third homer of the season against Colorado State (4/21) … Spring 2011 Academic All-MWC selection.
