ace muchos años mi tía Fela fue de vacaciones con su familia y se encontró una cartera con bastante dinero e identificaciones tirada en el hotel. Preguntó en la recepción, encontró al dueño y se la devolvió. Al día siguiente escuchó atónita a un señor que decía, “¿supieron de la idiota que devolvió la cartera?”. Solemos pensar que hacer lo correcto nos hará merecedores del reconocimiento de nuestros semejantes, y hará que el mundo sea mejor.

Lamentablemente no siempre es así. Cosas como esta pasan todos los días, a todos los niveles, y en todos los ámbitos. Hay momentos en que es imposible evitar sentir una gran frustración y es entonces cuando debemos recordar de dónde viene este aprendizaje. Oyendo hablar a Saskia y a Manuel, sobre por qué hacen lo que hacen, cómo ven el mundo, su concepto de pareja y familia y su idea de transmitir a Pía la importancia de ser congruente, para vivir de acuerdo con lo que piensas, sé que eso no les asegura que el mundo se vuelva mejor. Sin embargo, el mundo seguramente será mejor para alguien, y eso ya vale la pena.

Cuando estudiaba en la universidad, un profesor de filosofía decía sobre la búsqueda del conocimiento, que construimos sobre arena, pensando que lo hacemos sobre roca porque de otro modo, nunca haríamos nada.

Así vamos por la vida actuando conforme a lo que creemos, como si fuera una roca, pensando que podemos cambiar al mundo.

En este mes en que celebramos a las mamás y a los maestros, y considerando que los primeros profesores son nuestros padres, viene a mi mente una frase que constantemente he repetido mientras mis hijos crecían: “No sé si en cien años el mundo haya cambiado, tal vez no, pero quizá sea mejor porque fui importante en la vida de un niño”.

ACTUALIZAN LOS 5 PAÍSES CON MAYOR RESERVA DE ORO UPDATE OF THE 5 COUNTRIES WITH THE LARGEST GOLD RESERVES El Consejo Mundial del Oro ha publicado un informe sobre las tenencias y flujos globales de los fondos de inversión respaldados por oro. Los datos expuestos han revelado que EE.UU. lidera los países con mayores reservas de este metal precioso, seguido por Alemania, Italia, Francia y Rusia. Anteriormente, la organización anunció que la propiedad del oro por parte de los reguladores monetarios está en su nivel más alto en 50 años, y destacó que el año pasado los bancos centrales agregaron alrededor de 651 toneladas de oro a las reservas, es decir un 74% más que en 2017. Rusia ha cuadruplicado en una década su volumen de lingotes de oro, hasta llevarlo a su mayor nivel desde el 2000: casi un 20% de las reservas internacionales. En 2017, Rusia sacó a China de la lista de los cinco principales tenedores de oro, y el año anterior se convirtió en el principal comprador mundial, acumulando 2,149 toneladas.

SE PROHÍBEN EN BUENOS AIRES LAS APLICACIONES DE REPARTO A DOMICILIO BUENOS AIRES PROHIBITS DELIVERY APPS La justicia de la ciudad de Buenos Aires ordenó al gobierno porteño que prohiba la actividad de los servicios de entrega a domicilio de empresas como PedidosYa, Glovo y Rappi, entre otras que funcionan a través de aplicaciones, hasta que se ajusten a las leyes vigentes. El titular del Juzgado N°2 en lo Contencioso Administrativo y Tributario, Andrés Gallardo, encomendó la medida “en forma inmediata” a la administración del jefe de Gobierno, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, “hasta tanto -las firmas- acrediten haber dado cumplimiento a los mínimos requisitos legales comprendidos en el capítulo 13 del Código de Tránsito y Transporte porteño”. Los trabajadores de dichas firmas realizan los repartos en bicicleta, en muchos casos sin casco, sin luces y en su mayoría llevan las cajas conservadoras de alimentos sobre sus espaldas, cuando deberían estar sujetas a la bicicleta.

En menos de un día, su número excederá el número de los átomos en el universo", dice Mile Gu de la Universidad Tecnológica de Nanyang (Singapur), en la que un equipo de científicos singapurenses y australianos ha logrado construir un ordenador cuántico que puede generar distintos posibles futuros simultáneamente.

El nuevo computador puede reducir drásticamente la dificultad de la simulación de los procesos estocásticos —o la evolución de variables aleatorias en función de otra variable— que nos rodean cada día en varias formas, desde los procesos climáticos hasta el índice de la bolsa. El logro puede suponer un impulso a la inteligencia artificial (IA).

El estudio es claro, tenemos que tomar medidas ahora", afirmó Catherine McKenna, ministra de Medio Ambiente y Cambio Climático, en un comunicado publicado en la página web del Gobierno canadiense.

Saskia Niño de Rivera y Manuel López San Martín, activista de género y periodista con afán regenerador.

Desde hace un tiempo, ambos, padres de Pía. Con ellos hablamos del encaje de la familia actual en una sociedad acelerada por las redes y revisada por corrientes moralistas de distinta índole. Además les preguntamos sobre el siempre complicado reto de compatibilizar carreras profesionales con una crianza equilibrada, más cuando tu objetivo laboral es transformar la sociedad. «

Time Contact - Cualquier padre se enfrenta a cómo manejar la sobrecarga de información para sus hijos, en su caso en un entorno familiar crítico, con un ojo en la demanda social, ¿podría ser mucho estrés para un niño?

Manuel López San Martín - Lo tenemos muy claro, ya que este tipo de conversaciones las tuvimos durante el proceso del embarazo. Es importante siempre decir las cosas por su nombre y la realidad como es. Ver más allá de nuestro círculo personal. Con ella lo pensamos así, ir construyendo una buena ciudadana que sea muy consciente de donde nació, de que tiene acceso a ciertas cuestiones de información, a cierto mundo que no todo mundo puede tener. También contagiarla de nuestro propio entusiasmo, nuestras ganas, nuestras propias agendas y causas para que de alguna manera ella tenga un pensamiento crítico. Es una bebé muy generosa.

Saskia Niño de Rivera - Creo que hay una palabra importante que es congruencia. Si algo tratamos Manuel y yo es ser congruentes en la vida. Pía entro a la cárcel por primera vez cuando tenía tres semanas de nacida porque para mí la maternidad era estar cerca de ella y mi trabajo es muy importante también. Yo trabajo con niños que nacen y viven en la cárcel y llevarla fue esta parte de ser congruente. La política en el mundo artístico, en el que se mueve Manuel es tremenda y en el mundo criminológico, en el que yo me muevo también es muy desgastante, ya que ves cosas muy feas. Por lo que el tratar de ser congruentes con nuestros valores es lo más importante. No solo lo aplicamos en nuestro ámbito laboral, sino en nuestro ámbito personal también. Hemos dejado amistades y nos hemos distanciado de gente muy cercana porque sabemos que están metidos en cosas que sabemos no deberían.

TC - Tantos valores pueden representar para el ser humano una carga muy fuerte.

MLSM - Fíjate que no lo había pensado así, pero tienes razón. De alguna manera ella nace inmersa en un ambiente con las características de lo que Saskia describe, pero también con dos papás que definieron desde muy jóvenes no solo lo que les gustaba y a que se querían dedicar, sino los valores que iban a acompañarlos. Si en algo creemos nosotros es en la libertad absoluta, en la que ella haga y deshaga, y se dedique a lo que quiera. Pero también nos parece fundamental que exista una columna vertebral de valores bien definida. Así que lejos de considerarlo una carga, es una especie de eje en su educación.

SNDR - Exacto, yo creo que eso es lo más importante. Manuel y yo fuimos pésimos en la escuela y aun así encontramos algo que es clave, que es la pasión en nuestros trabajos y cuando tienes pasión en tu trabajo no hay una carga.

TC - Tienen muy tejido el concepto de familia entre los dos, donde además de padre y madre son pareja y profesionales.

Este tejido que han desarrollado entre ambos ¿Creen que se ha reflejado en sus carreras?

SNDR - Sin duda ha sido un factor muy importante en nuestra relación porque somos dos personas muy apasionadas en lo que hacemos. Eso hace que nuestros temas de conversación, nuestros intereses y demás sean temas que nos unen muchísimo. Somos dos apasionados tanto de la política, como de la justicia social, que es por lo que tenemos tanto en común.

MLSM - Somos muy respetuosos respecto a nuestras carreras, pero no significa que no estemos involucrados, al contrario, si algo nos pudiese definir seria “equipo”. Jamás tomo una decisión importante sin antes tener la visión y la opinión de ella y de la misma manera lo hace ella conmigo.

TC - Cuando se habla de valores familiares se mencionan muchas cosas, pero no se menciona uno de los más poderosos, “la ambición familiar”. ¿Sienten que están generando una ambición como familia?

MLSM - Este ánimo de hacer equipo siempre tiene que ver con un “hacer cosas” y esto implica avanzar. Lo que a su vez implica que cada quien está en su carril pero que nos acompañamos y vamos juntos en este camino. Insisto en que somos muy buenos aliados y hay un amor profundo además de admiración.

SNDR - Creo que no es una ambición familiar. Somos dos personas que nos encontramos con diferentes pasiones y nunca lo planeamos así. Ha sido muy natural los proyectos que tanto él, como yo hemos establecido, lo que se convirtió en un acompañamiento y no un tema de ambición.

MLSM - Exacto, ambición puede sonar maquiavélico y nunca hemos sido una familia que busca un fin político o económico. Lo que si hay es un interés genuino por involucrarnos y por influir dentro de la sociedad.

TC - Hay una palabra en el trabajo de los dos que desde mi punto de vista es una constante, que es la palabra: “verdad”. Los dos trabajan de alguna manera u otra en pro de la verdad, y de mejorarla si es posible, ¿hasta qué puntos están dispuestos a entregarse por la verdad?

SNDR - Absolutamente todo. Acabamos de estar en una situación donde el bienestar de nuestra hija estaba en riesgo, lo que nos puso entre la espada y la pared en cuanto a la justicia y la verdad, donde predominó la congruencia. Tuvimos una situación con una persona que nos ayudaba en casa, donde encontramos en su celular fotos y documentos personales de mi hija. Investigamos y tenía nexos con colombianos y el primer consejo que recibimos fue que llevaremos el tema hasta la última instancia, incluso si eso incluía tener que mentir en un tema de justicia para que ella fuera encarcelada. Nos decían que no sabíamos hasta donde podían llegar estas personas, que era la seguridad de nuestra hija y dentro de todo, las leyes no estaban a nuestro favor. La mujer está libre, hicimos lo que nos correspondía, que era levantar la denuncia correspondiente. Al final lo tuvimos que dejar ir, porque si no hubiéramos entrado en un tema de corrupción, de poder y de ver quién tenía más contactos, a lo mejor hubiéramos ganado pero la verdad y la justicia ante cualquier cosa.

MLSM - Exacto, ese es el pegamento que nosotros tenemos como pareja, el tener esos valores bien definidos. Claro que hay discusiones, pero siempre nos colocamos del mismo lado de los valores que defendemos. Entre el dicho y el hecho siempre ser congruentes y vivir

tranquilos siempre. La gente podría pensar que somos intolerantes en términos de la justicia, pero somos muy tajantes sobre todo en que la legalidad no se mueve un centímetro y eso nos une y nos vincula.

Es algo que de igual manera vamos a inculcarle a nuestra hija en su día a día y en su toma de decisiones.

TC - Leí un artículo de Saskia muy interesante donde no se había aplicado la atenuante en el caso de unas mujeres que mataron a sus maridos y las penas han sido muy severas.

Conozco personalmente el caso de un hombre. La mujer le dejó por otro hombre, ella ganó la custodia de los hijos y se quedó con el 90% del dinero de él, mientras él vivía en su coche. Ella se burlaba psicológicamente de él, hasta que un día la mató de un tiro. ¿Existe atenuante en este caso, aunque se trate de un hombre?

SNDR - En esa columna lo que argumento es el acceso a la justicia real, en ese caso las mujeres que mataron a sus esposos, no digo que no haya una condena, sino que tiene que haber el acceso en la justicia, a las alternativas en cuanto a una pena por cuestiones biopsicosociales y eso no tiene que ver con el género. Se habla más de la violencia de género de un hombre hacia una mujer porque se da mucho más, pero en el caso que mencionas debería de ser exactamente igual, se deberían aplicar las pruebas correspondientes, hablando del impacto que haya tenido este hombre en cuanto al mal trato de esta mujer, y por ende poner una sentencia justa.

TC - Manuel , ¿cómo ves toda esta cuestión de género?

MLSM - Creo que en México tenemos una enorme deuda con las mujeres, en general con los grupos que están sujetos a vulnerabilidad por el propio sistema o por las propias autoridades y en ese sentido creo que las leyes tienen que tratar de equilibrar la balanza.

SNDR - Yo sí estoy a favor de leyes correctoras y creo también que las leyes nuevas van surgiendo a través de la problemática social. Creo que justamente el movimiento feminista de ahora ya no es el feminismo de hace 50 años donde quemábamos los brassieres, ahora es un feminismo equitativo. El empoderamiento de la mujer siento que va de la mano de un tema educacional. Algo que está muy de moda ahora y que hace algunos años no existía tiene que ver con el ‘no gender role’ en los niños y eso es algo que igual tratamos de inculcarle a Pía, en su cuarto tiene muñecas pero igual tiene coches, y en lugar de tener princesas tiene animales, una cosa muy ‘gender neutral’.

TC - Saskia trae una fuerte carga de equidad de género y tú traes una interesante carga en el mundo de la imagen, has elegido ser un personaje público, ¿hasta qué punto la imagen demanda de ti?

MLSM - Es interesante, porque también es el debate que hay sobre las redes sociales y que tanta privacidad decides tener de tu vida personal o hasta pública, que tanto quieres mantener reservado. Creo que hoy el tema de redes o el tema de vender una imagen es una responsabilidad grande y trato en la medida de lo posible que vaya acompañado de ciertos valores. Soy una persona bastante solitaria en muchos sentidos, me gusta estar con poca gente y a pesar de que tengo muchos amigos, me gusta mi espacio para leer, escribir y estar un poco ajeno, y que pase todo el ruido para ver las cosas con otra visión. Trato de que lo que hago siempre este bien pensado, bien reflexionado, puede parecer hasta demasiado frío o incluso calculador pero creo que el hecho de decir algo o de expresar una idea al público conlleva una responsabilidad.

SNDR - Yo creo que soy más genuina, vivo de una manera muy congruente y tengo tatuada la República en mi cuerpo, amo México profundamente. Soy una activista de mi país al cien, y si me saco una foto con Pía llegando al reclusorio, no lo hago por alguna razón, es porque siento que va de la mano con la congruencia que yo siento y eso mismo se ve en mis redes sociales. No lo planeo, sino que esa es mi vida literalmente. Me da igual el físico, no me gusta arreglarme, no me peino y no me maquillo ni por equivocación, no uso otra cosa que no sean tenis, y en ese aspecto me da igual subir una foto saliendo del gimnasio despeinada.

TC - ¿Qué piensan de lo que está sucediendo con el nacionalismo en el mundo entero y en México en concreto?

SNDR - Me asusta mucho porque creo que estamos dando un paso para atrás muy grande, en cuanto a un país en donde predomina la justicia social y se vive de una manera mucho más libre e incluyente.

Me preocupa esa manera de reaccionar.

MLSM - Coincido, creo que como sociedad global estamos cada vez más polarizados y los líderes políticos y gobernantes tienen una gran responsabilidad y un rol importante. Llegaron al poder no solamente por quienes los pusieron, sino que con una responsabilidad para tomar decisiones que lleven a su país a un mayor bienestar. De igual manera quienes tenemos voz pública tenemos una responsabilidad y creo que en ese sentido, no me gusta generalizar porque no todo es así, pero los medios de comunicación en general tendríamos que ser más responsables con la manera de contar las cosas.

TC - El presidente criticó el papel de la iglesia en la Conquista, pero tres semanas antes cinco diputados de MORENA en León evitaron que se legalizara el aborto.

SNDR - Creo que es gravísimo que no se haya respetado lo que

la ley ya marca, que en las primeras 12 semanas de gestación se puede abortar. Nuevamente el poco conocimiento que hay sobre la problemática social real. Al conocer las historias de las mujeres que abortan, no son mujeres que usan el aborto como un anticonceptivo como en otros países, aquí en Mexico hay casos de niñas de 10 u 11 años que están embarazadas, mujeres en pobreza extrema en situaciones de vulnerabilidad que están embarazadas, mujeres que han sido violadas. Existen muchos contextos que desafortunadamente traen al mundo a niños no deseados, es un gran mal en nuestro país por un tema religioso y eso es muy grave. Hemos peleado en este país por la separación de iglesia y Estado, eso es muy delicado y no como una mujer atea que soy, sino como una mujer que realmente cree que debe de estar dividida la decisión de la religión, que es una cosa muy individual, con un tema de derechos humanos y Estado.

MLSM - Hay que partir de que el presidente es un hombre profundamente conservador y es una persona que también aunque se dice de izquierda y apoya a las poblaciones más desfavorecidas pero para él, la política social es etiquetarte como pobre y darte un dinero para que sigas sobreviviendo como pobre. No hay una política mucho más amplia, en su pensamiento es profundamente conservador en términos de la marihuana, la legalización de las drogas, etc. Mas allá de que MORENA lo tiene como una de sus agendas, cuando dio sus 100 puntos en el Zócalo no hubo mención de este tema. Es profundamente conservador con los derechos de la comunidad LGBTI, ya que no cree que necesiten reconocerse esos derechos y que evade el tema y de igual manera es profundamente conservador en el tema del aborto. El presidente puede pensar lo que quiera, el problema es que piense que no debe traducirse en política pública, porque la política pública debería de estar enfocada en un tema de salud y no en seguir criminalizando a mujeres. «

Time Contact - Any parent faces how to handle information overload for their children nowadays, in your case in a critical family environment, with an eye on social demand, could it be a lot of stress for a child?

Manuel López San Martín - We have it very clear, as this is the kind of conversations we had throughout the pregnancy process, it is important to always call things by their name and reality as it is. To see beyond our personal circle. With Pía we think to do it this way, to raise a good citizen who is very aware of where she was born, who has access to certain information issues, and a world that not everyone can have. And we also want to share our own enthusiasm, our desire, our own agendas and causes with her, so that she can develope her own critical thinking. She is a very generous baby.

Saskia Niño de Rivera - I think congruence is an important word. If there is something Manuel and I try to do, is to be congruent in life. Pía entered prison for the first time when she was three weeks old because for me motherhood was being close to her and my work is very important too. I work with children who are born and live in jail, and to take her was part of being congruent. The politics in the artistic world in which Manuel moves is tremendous and in the criminological world in which I move it is also very draining, since you see horrible things. So, trying to be congruent with our values is the most important thing. We not only apply it in our work environment, but also in our personal life. We have ended friendships and we have distanced ourselves from very close people because we learned they were involved in things we do not agree with.

TC - So many values can represent a burden for the human being MLSM - I haven’t thought it like this, but you’re right. Somehow, she was born immersed in an environment with the characteristics of what Saskia describes, but also with two parents who defined from a young age not only what they liked and what they wanted to dedicate, but also the values that were going to accompany us. If we believe in something, is in absolute freedom, in which she does or undo whatever she wants, and dedicates herself to whatever she pleases. But it also seems fundamental to us that there is a well-defined backbone of values. So far from considering it a burden, we see it as an axis in her education.

SNDR - Exactly, I think that is the most important thing. Manuel and I were terrible at school and yet we found something that is key, which is passion in our jobs and when you have passion in your work there is no burden.

TC - Both you have weaven the concept of family where in addition to parenthood, you are a couple and professionals. Do you think that this tissue that you have developed, is reflected in your careers?

SNDR - It has undoubtedly been a very important factor in our relationship because we are two people who are very passionate about what we do. That makes our topics of conversation, our interests and everything else, things that unite us a lot. We are both passionate about politics, as well as social justice, which is why we have so much in common.

MLSM - We are very respectful about our careers, but that does not mean that we are not involved, on the contrary, if anything could define us is “team spirit”. I never make an important decision without first having the vision and opinion of her and she does the same with me.

TC - When talking about family values, many things are mentioned, but one of the most powerful is not, "family ambition".

Do you feel that you are generating an ambition as a family?

MLSM - This team spirit always has to do with “doing things” and this implies moving forward. Which in turn implies that each of us is in their lane but that we go together in the same path. I insist that we are very good allies and there is a deep love as well as admiration.

SNDR - I think it's not a family ambition. We are two people who met

with different passions and we never planned it that way. It has been very natural for the projects that he and I have established, which became an accompaniment and not a topic of ambition.

MLSM - Exactly, ambition may sound machiavellic and we have never been a family that seeks an economic or political goal. What we have is a genuine interest in getting involved and influence within society.

TC - There is a word in the work of the both of you, that from my point of view is a constant, which is the word: “truth”. Both work in some way or another for the truth, and to improve it if possible, up to what point are you willing to surrend yourselves to the truth?

SNDR - To whatever point is needed. We have just been in a situation where the safety of our daughter was at risk, which put our backs against the wall in terms of justice and truth, where congruence prevailed. We had a situation with a person who helped us at home, where we found pictures and personal documents of my daughter on her cell-phone. We researched and she had links with Colombians and the first advice we received was to take the matter to the last instance, even if that meant having to lie on a justice issue so that she could be imprisoned. They told us that we did not know how far these people could go, that it was our daughter's safety, and, above all, the laws were not in our favor. The woman is free, we did what we could, which was to raise the corresponding complaint. In the end we had to let it go because doing something else meant getting involved in a topic of corruption and power, and seeing who had more contacts, maybe we would have won but truth and justice are above everything.

MLSM - Exactly, that is the glue that we have as a couple, having those values well defined. Of course, there are discussions, but we always place ourselves on the same side of the values we defend. Between the saying and the fact always be congruent and live in peace. People might think that we are intolerant in terms of justice, but we are very clear that anything concerning legality does not move an inch and that unites us and links us. It is something that we are going to inculcate to our daughter in her day to day and in her decision making.

TC - I read a very interesting article from Saskia where the extenuating circumstance had not been applied in the case of some women who killed their husbands and the sentences have been very severe. I personally know the case of a diving man. The woman left him for another man, she won custody of the children and kept 90% of his money, while he lived in his car. She mocked him psychologically, until one day he killed her. Is there a mitigating factor in this case, even if it is a man?

SNDR - In that column what I argue is the access to real justice. In the case of the women who killed their husbands, I do not say that they should not be convicted, but they must have access to justice, for biopsychosocial issues and that has nothing to do with gender. There is more talk about the gender violence of a man towards a woman because there is much more, but in the case that you mention, it should be exactly the same, the corresponding tests should be applied, talking about the impact that this man has had in terms of abuse from this woman, and therefore assuring a fair sentence.

TC - Manuel, how do you see this whole gender issue?

MLSM - I think that in Mexico we have a huge debt with women, especially with groups who are subject to vulnerability by the system itself or by the authorities themselves and in that sense, I believe that the laws have to try to make a balance.

SNDR - I am in favor of corrective laws and I also believe that new laws are emerging through social problems. I think that the feminist movement nowadays is not the feminism movement of 50 years ago where we burned the brassieres, now it is an equitable feminism. The empowerment of

women goes hand in hand with an educational issue. Something very common now that a few years ago did not exist is the “no gender role” in children, and that is something that we try to do with Pía, in her room she has dolls but she has cars too, and instead of having princesses she has animals, a very “gender neutral” thing.

TC - Saskia brings a strong load of gender equity and you bring an interesting one of image, you have chosen to be a public figure.

How much does image demand of you?

MLSM - It is interesting, because it is also the debate that exists about social media and how much privacy you decide to have from your personal or even public life, and how much you decide to keep private. I think that today the topic of social media or the issue of selling an image is a big responsibility and I try as much as possible according to my own values. I am a very lonely person in many ways, I like to be with few people and although I have many friends, I like my space to read, write and be a little oblivious, and keep myself away from the noise, so I can see things with another vision . I try that what I do is always well thought out. It can be seen like I´m too cold on this topic, or even too calculating but I think that the fact of saying something or expressing an idea to the public entails a responsibility.

SNDR - I believe that I am more genuine, I live in a very congruent way and I have the Mexican Republic tattooed on my body, I love Mexico deeply. I am 100% an activist for my country, and if I take a picture with Pía arriving at the prison, I do not do it for some reason in particular, it is because I feel that it goes hand in hand with the congruence that I feel and it is the same in my social networks. I do not plan it, because that is my life literally. I do not care about the physique, I do not like to dress up to go out , I do not comb my hair and I do not wear make-up at all, I do not wear anything but sneakers, and in that aspect I do not care to upload a photo of myself coming out of the gym looking as I do.

TC - What do you think about what is happening with nationalism in the whole world and in Mexico in particular?

SNDR - It scares me a lot because I think we are taking a big step backwards, in terms of a country where social justice predominates, and we live in a much freer and more inclusive way. I'm worried about that way of reacting.

MLSM - I agree, I believe that as a global society we are increasingly polarized, and political leaders and governments have a great responsibility and an important role. They came to power not only for those who put them there, but with a responsibility to make decisions that lead their country to greater well-being. And

likewise, those of us who have a public voice have a responsibility and I think that in that sense, I do not like to generalize because not everything is like that, but the media in general would have to be more responsible with their way of telling things.

TC - The president criticized the role of the church in the Conquest, but three weeks before, five deputies from MORENA in León avoided legalization of abortion.

SNDR - I think it is very serious that the law has not been respected, that in the 12 first weeks of pregnancy there can be an abortion. Again, the little knowledge that there is about the real social problem. Learning the stories of women who abort, one realizes these are not women who use abortion as a contraceptive like in other countries, here in Mexico there are cases of girls aged 10 or 11 who are pregnant, women in extreme poverty and in situations of vulnerability and women being raped. Unfortunately, there are many contexts that give birth to unwanted children, it is a great evil in our country for a religious issue and that is very serious. We have fought in this country for the separation of church and state, and that is very

delicate, and I speak not as an atheist, but as a woman who believes that religion is a very personal thing that must be separated from human rights and matters of State.

MLSM - We must start from the fact that the president is a deeply conservative man and a person who also says to belong to the left opposition, supporting the most disadvantaged populations but for him, social policy is labeled as poor and to give money to continue surviving as poor. There is not a much broader policy, in his thinking he is deeply conservative in terms of marijuana, the legalization of drugs, etc. Beyond that MORENA has it as one of its agendas, in his speech of the 100 points in the Zócalo, there was no mention of this topic. He is deeply conservative with the rights of the LGBTI community, since he does not believe that these need to be recognized, therefore he evades the subject. In the same way, he is very conservative about abortion. The president can think whatever he wants, the problem is that he thinks that it should not be translated into public policies, but public policies should focus on health issues and not on criminalizing women. «

Considerada una de las mejores ciudades de Estados Unidos para vivir, debo para reconocer que al principio se me hacía un lugar aburrido y muy tranquilo para una rata de asfalto de la Ciudad de México como yo. Sin embargo después de ocho años y medio de conocerlo, puedo decir que San Diego tiene todo lo que se espera de una gran ciudad y nadie que lo conozca quedará defraudado.

Una de las cosas que más disfruto de vivir en San Diego es el fin de semana en La Jolla, que, aunque técnicamente es parte de San Diego, se siente como un destino que bien puede por sí solo ofrecer experiencia completa del sur de California, con sus hoteles, tiendas y cafés que le dan un ambiente sofisticado.

El comienzo de fin de semana perfecto para mí, podría ser una caminata por la hermosa reserva estatal de Torrey Pines que ofrece bellas vistas del océano desde sus espectaculares acantilados. Luego de un desayuno en el Hotel Valencia y una caminata por el paseo marítimo de La Jolla Cove para

ver los leones marinos, las focas y los pelícanos. En verano, que es más caluroso, un chapuzón en el mar es una buena opción para refrescarse y también se puede ir al pequeño tour para visitar las cuevas y después comer en George’s at the Cove, un gran lugar con linda vista, rica comida y buen ambiente.

A lo largo del año hay varios eventos que no puedes dejar pasar de largo como los famosos conciertos de verano Summer Pops, con la sinfónica de San Diego en el Embarcadero de Marina Park South, o la Temporada de hipódromo en Del Mar, con siete semanas de carreras de caballos pura sangre que incluyen una serie de conciertos.

Otro de los eventos anuales más esperados es el Comic-Con Internacional, que se ha convertido en una de las grandes citas del mundo del entretenimiento y en la que durante tres días las calles del centro de la ciudad son tomadas por los fans disfrazados de sus personajes favoritos de los cómics, los videojuegos y las películas.

Hoy, después de haber llevado a muchos amigos a visitar todos estos lugares, y de disfrutarlos sin prisa y apreciarlos en toda su belleza, yo también puedo decir que, sin lugar a dudas, San Diego es el mejor lugar para vivir y si lo han visitado, les aseguro que siempre tiene cosas nuevas que ofrecer. «

Considered one of the best cities in the United States to live, I must admit that at the beginning it was a boring and very quiet place for a rat of asphalt from Mexico City like me. However after eight and a half years of knowing it , I can say that San Diego has everything that is expected of a great city and nobody who visits this city will be disappointed.

One of the things I enjoy most about living in San Diego is the weekend in La Jolla, which, although technically being part of San Diego, feels like a destination that may well offer a complete experience of Southern California by itself, with its hotels, shops and cafes that give it a sophisticated atmosphere. The perfect weekend start for me, would be a walk through the beautiful Torrey Pines state reserve that offers beautiful views of the ocean from its spectacular cliffs, followed by a breakfast at the Hotel Valencia and a walk along the seafront of La Jolla Cove to watch sea lions, seals and pelicans. In summer, when it gets hotter, a dip in the sea is a good option to cool off and you can also take a small tour to visit the caves and then eat at George's at the Cove, a great place with beautiful views, delicious food and good atmosphere. Throughout the year, there are several events that you can not miss, like the famous summer concerts ‘Summer Pops’, with the San Diego Symphony at the Marina Park South Pier, or the Del Mar Racetrack Season, with seven weeks of thoroughbred horse races that include a series of concerts.

The immense Balboa Park is one of the largest and oldest urban parks in the country, where we find the famous San Diego Zoo, as well as several art galleries, museums, artists' studios and gardens. Baseball fans should not miss a game at Petco Park, the home of the San Diego Padres, a great experience to enjoy with the family, admire its magnificent architecture and try its diverse selection of restaurants. The Gaslamp Quarter, located in the historic center on 5th Avenue, is considered one of the best places to eat, have a coffee, a drink and enjoy the nightlife.

Seaport Village is another place to walk and rent the famous electric scooters and bicycles, the deep harbor houses a large active naval fleet, with the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier transformed into a museum open to the public.

Taking the ferry to go to Coronado Island and a bicycle ride, is one of the most recommended tours, as well as visiting the famous Hotel del Coronado, one of the largest Victorian wooden buildings in California.

Today, after several visits with friends who have come to see all these beautiful places, I have enjoyed them without haste and appreciated them in all their beauty. So, I can say that, without a doubt, San Diego is the best place to live and even if you have visited it, I assure you it always has new things to offer. «

Durante los últimos trece o catorce años he visitado Bali para practicar surf y año tras año lo he visto deteriorarse, cada vez más contaminado. Últimamente he leído muchos artículos sobre lo que las grandes compañías dicen estar haciendo al respecto, pero sinceramente creo que sus acciones van más orientadas a relaciones públicas que a algo realmente significativo, los hacen ver bien sin afectar sus ganancias.

Cuéntame más sobre ti, tu familia, cómo fue crecer en Irlanda y cuándo empezaste a pintar…

Nací en Dublín pero crecí y me crié en Belfast, así que en realidad soy del Irlanda del Norte. Podría decir que soy un artista callejero, pues desarrollé mis habilidades en la calle, pintaba en muros y en algunos puentes, aunque jamás me consideraría un artista del grafiti pues eso implica muchas otras cosas que nunca he hecho. Mi papá era bajista en una banda y mi mamá trabajaba en una tienda de discos, creo que tenían ese espíritu libre de los hippies. Crecer en Irlanda fue rudo, pero eso es algo que puedo ver hoy, en esa época era lo único que conocía. Belfast era una ciudad industrial muy gris y vivíamos el final de un conflicto armado; fue hasta los 18 años cuando viajé y me di cuenta de que no todo el mundo era igual. No quiero ser considerado un pintor irlandés sino un artista global.

Se dice de ti que incansablemente cuestionas la realidad y que amas el humor negro…

Me encanta el humor negro, creo que crecer en Belfast me enseñó a darle la vuelta a la realidad a través del humor y esto es algo que reflejo en mi obra. Me gusta pintar sobre lo que está aconteciendo en el mundo en lo económico, lo social y lo político, ese es el sentido de mi arte. Me gusta hacer una declaración sin tener que decir nada, prefiero las acciones que las palabras.

Si pudieras comprar una obra de cualquier artista ¿de quién sería y cuál?

De Jheronimus Bosch ‘El Bosco’, es mi pintor favorito y compraría todas. Me encantan sus obras que reflejan la moral de la sociedad en el siglo XIV, me fascina pensar de dónde surgieron todas esas imágenes de sus cuadros, porque hoy en día uno necesita inspiración y ahí está Google pero entonces era diferente. ¿Qué hay en el futuro para Robyn Ward?

Cuando termine la gira de ‘Plastic Nation’ empezaré con la producción de mi siguiente serie, de la cual tengo ya muchos bocetos e investigación, me lleva varios años preparar una serie y cuando empiezo a producirla tengo casi todo resuelto. Llevará el nombre de ‘FAB: Fucked at birth’, con temas como la trata de personas, el trabajo infantil y el calentamiento global entre otros. ¿Crees que el arte puede salvarnos?

No lo sé, pero quisiera pensar que puede ayudar y que ayuda a que más y más personas se concienticen cada día, lo increíble de los humanos es que cuando todos no los proponemos podemos cambiar las cosas. El día que China erradique los plásticos, el futuro puede cambiar radicalmente. Es difícil, y depende del día en que me pregunten, pero quiero ser optimista. «

Why Plastic Nation ?, where does this series come from?

During the last thirteen or fourteen years I have visited Bali for surfing. I have seen it deteriorating year after year and becoming increasingly polluted. Lately I have read many articles about what the big companies say they are doing about it, but I honestly think that their actions are more oriented to public relations than to something really significant, that makes them look good without affecting their earnings.

Tell me more about yourself, your family and what it was like to grow up in Ireland, when you started painting.

I was born in Dublin but I was raised in Belfast, so really grew up in Northern Ireland. You could say that I am a street artist, I developed my skills in the street, I painted on walls and some bridges, although I would never consider myself a graffiti artist, because that implies many other things that I have never done. My dad played the bass in a band and my mom worked in a record store, I think they had that free spirit of the hippies. Growing up in Ireland was gritty, but that's something I can see today, at that time it was the only thing I knew. Belfast was a very gray industrial city and we were living through the end of an armed conflict; It was not until I turned 18 and traveled outside the country, that I realized not every place was the same. I do not want to be considered an Irish painter but a global artist.

It is said that you tirelessly question reality and that you love dark humor...

I love dark humor, I think growing up in Belfast taught me to turn reality around through humor and this is something that I reflect in my work. I like to paint about what is happening in the world in the economic, social and political arenas, that is the meaning of my art. I like to make a statement without having to say anything. I prefer actions than words.

If you could buy a work by any artist, whose would it be and which one?

From Jheronimus Bosch, he is my favorite painter and I would buy all of them. I love his paintings that reflect the moral of society in the fourteenth century, I wonder where all those images in his paintings came from, because today you need inspiration and there is Google but then it was different.

What's in the future for Robyn Ward?

When the tour of ‘Plastic Nation’ finishes, I will start with the production of my next series, for which I have been doing many sketches and research, it takes me several years to prepare a series and when I start producing it I have almost everything solved. It will be named ‘FAB: Fucked at birth’, with topics such as human trafficking, child labor and global warming among others.

Do you think art can save us?

I don´t know, but I would like to believe that it can help, and that more and more people become aware every day because of it. The incredible thing about humans is that when we come together with a purpose and we commit, we can make a big difference. The day that China bans plastics, the future can change radically. It's difficult, and it depends on the day you ask me, but I want to be optimistic. «

Hasta no hace mucho la mirada de provincia tenía su antagonista en el ojo del viajero, el sujeto que prescindía del equipaje mental, no necesariamente del físico, -como los personajes de las novelas de Paul Bowles, a merced de lo extraño pero cubiertos de maletas- y se abría casi virgen al sometimiento del encuentro puro. Crecía en cada hecho exterior. La era digital elimina la distancia y desvirtúa el tiempo.
