illowridge Wanakafest kicks off with Passion For Fashion next Wednesday. Over the week there will be Juggling, Skate Jams, Circus, Music, Icy Dips, Wine, Beer, Food...and more! There is something for everyone at this year’s festival! There are loads of great events to get involved in and tons of prizes up for grabs! There is the battle for the best Float Trophy in the Stonewood Homes Street Parade. The winner of this year’s Lone Star Movie Fest is up for a Welli-wood weekend. This year’s Ray White Radio Wanaka Polar Plunge

has a $500 prize pool. There are tons of great prizes for our BIG little Family Duathlon and every participant in the Wanaka Veterinary Centre Pet parade wins a prize! If you are keen to help out for a few hours, volunteers are still needed for this year’s Stonewood Homes Street Parade, the Wine and Food Fest and to help run our Info booth. Wanaka Golf Club is probably the most scenic course you could wish to have a round of golf on. Unfortunately the course has been the subject of vandalism during the past weekends. Graffiti and damage to greens and flags appear to be the offenders’ targets. If you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area, other than people playing with little white balls, please call us. Staying on the subject of golf, someone has been hitting golf balls through the window of a yacht in the Lakeside Road Marina on 07/10/11 causing over $400 of damage. Occasionally I feel like a stuck record, endlessly repeating myself, saying the same thing over and over. To remind those who did not hear the first time; Did you know it is dangerous, illegal and all out stupid to drink and drive? Yet, another three people were prosecuted for this offence and will lose their licences. We will regularly stop and speak to drivers making sure they obey this very simple rule. On 10/11/2011 a young man stole a bottle of Jagermeister valued at $70 from Betty's Liquor Store. This young man has a distinctive wide light brown coloured AFRO style hair cut. If you know this big haired offender, please contact Constable Tywman. We have had two crashes on our roads this week. One crash was caused by the motorist driving too fast. Please slow down and drive within your capabilities. We often get complaints of internet scams where victims receive emails asking for money.
