Another Sign
And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous. Revelation 15:1 Some signs are dismal. The view from this side of heaven can sometimes be terrifying. We see high mountains, low valleys, dark caves and impenetrable barriers. We see signs of hard times.
We see walls that we can’t see over and problems we can’t see our way through. We think these are signs of the times. But if we hold on long enough, eventually we will see another sign. It is great and marvelous. From our vantage point this side of heaven is filled with visions of despair, hopelessness, untruthfulness, wasted resources and wasted lives signaling to us that the end is near. But there is another sign created by the same God who spoke into existence the heavens and the earth. This is the same God who holds back the waters from covering the earth by the power of His Word. There is another side to God who allows certain things to teach us some things. This side too is great and marvelous. He is the terrible God who also gives comfort to go with the afflictions He provides to move us to the next place in Him with humility. He is the storm maker who also gives us peace in its midst. He is the Hand that gives provision and that chastens. He is great and marvelous. Look and see the mighty workings of God. See beyond the signs on earth. ESSIE DELORES GRANT, age 69 years, died on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in her home in Street, MD. Born on December 17, 1943 in the Rocks area of Harford County, MD, she was a daughter of the late Clinton Holland and Marian (Wallace) Miller and the wife of Daniel Grant. A lifetime resident of the area, Bessie was a 1962 graduate of the former Central Consolidated High School in Hickory, MD and continued her education in business/ accounting at Harford Community College in Bel Air, MD. A member of Chestnut Grove A.M.E. Church in Street, MD, Bessie was active in various leadership roles, was a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, on the Steward Board and recently was instrumental in adding a church outreach program. She also had been active in prison ministry. Bessie had worked for the Klein Family of Forest Hill, MD for over 40 years at their grocery stores where she was a baker for the last 15 years. She loved to cook and her specialty was making holiday bread baskets filled with her homemade rolls. Bessie Grant will be loved forever by her family, friends, church family and all who knew her.
