Think On These Things By Juanita G. Wingo

This Work

The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. John 14:10

We all have work to do. The Word says if we don’t work; we don’t eat. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. II Thessalonians 3:10 God gives us work. The work comes from him. When things are not going as well as expected we can get stressed and frustrated and try to muscle our way to accomplishing the work. We forget that it is His work. When God gives you work to do – whether it is employment, ministry, labor, government, or public service – we can pray: Lord, this is your work. I yield to you. You do this work. Sometimes we get tired and want to stop working. Pray: Father, you do this work. We get discouraged with our progress or lack thereof and want to quit. Pray: Father, you do this work. We lose sight of the vision and we get sidetracked. Pray: Father, you do this work. We may not know how to do the work we are given to do. Pray: Father, you do this work. We get intimidated by the size, the scope, the depth, the reach, and the greatness of the work and we want to back away. Pray: Father, you do this work. We grow weary with the task and we want to change paths. Pray: Father, you do this work. We get overwhelmed by the monotony of the days and the routine and we want to run from it. Pray: Father, you do this work. We get lazy and we want to give the work for someone else to do. Pray: Father, you do this work. Then we stay yielded and quiet within and let God do his work. He will tell you what to do, how to do it, when to do it, and with whom to do it. Don’t stop the work. Turn the work over to God. Let him do the work. It is his work. Power Magazine n Febuary 2018

THE CHURCH TEA

A TIME TO JUDGE

And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time … and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. Judges 4:4-5

It is my honor to give the Church Tea readers some wonderful news! Judge Wanda K. Heard has been appointed to serve as the chief judge of Baltimore city’s circuit court – the first woman to ever serve in the position. Judge Heard is replacing Judge Alfred Nance, who recently retired. Ecclesiastes tells us there is a time for everything – now comes a time to judge. I had the pleasure of meeting Judge Heard, who has vast historical knowledge of the Baltimore area. Her insight and presence alone is enough to make young people aspire to greatness. It is truly significant when a judicial person can actually relate to the people he or she will serve. Although, Judge Heard is a black woman, to pigeon-hole her into any one group would be a gross misconception. I believe she fairly embraces all people she encounters, especially children. Recently, youth from of various ethnic backgrounds were engaged with Judge Heard at the courthouse, when she held a mock trial for “Old Mother Hubbard”. These local area school children were placed

in positions of judge, jury and prosecutor and got the unique opportunity to experience the legal system from a position of empowerment. Judge Heard carefully guided the children through the exercise. As a result, several students expressed an interest in becoming legal professionals in the future. We must continue to provide strong role models and educate our communities economically and spiritually. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you (John 13:15). Until next time join me & Rev Williams Wingo on WOLB 1010AM Fridays from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. And email me at: annwilliams@ramovers.com.
