Jaipur: On January 8, 2021, JECRC Universitry organised the expert lecture on "The Story of Newsroom" by Dr. L.P. Pant on virtual platform. In that interaction, Dr. Pant discussed the important things about journalism. He said that journalist should remember the 5 points that are: firstly the journalist should have moral courage, to always support right the truth, to be with justice. Secondly, they should have ability to smell news. If you can't do this you can't be a journalist. Thirdly, the most important that journalist should remember is reliability. Forth, they should have understanding of topic. We should be aware about our topic. Last but not the least the journalist should have writing skills. Speaking about the importance of the editor, he said that the editor is the ring master in Newsroom but it is duty of performers to decide where they want to perform. The editor is the security guard, his job is to check that everything is okay or not. He also mentioned that being a Journalist has its own

Ankush Sharma

meaning. They give visions and angles in news. Reliability has changed into ideology and these situations are dangerous. He also mentioned that after Covid-19, newsroom is changing, and with that Journalism is changing. Things are not the same, they are changing and the way of seeing news is also changing. Talking about the effect of smartphone

on journalism he said that smartphones has changed the way of news. Smartphone is the most powerful thing. It is the biggest challenge to Journalism. He concluded by saying that the possibilities of doing something different and new should always be there in journalist. The most difficult work is to save or defend the truth to be with justice.

Jaipur: A man with Indian origin and roots from Telangana is in limelight these days for serving as the political advisor and director of speech writing for Joe Biden, whose speech; on the theme “Unity” was commended by the whole world. C. Vinay Reddy was adjoined with the team Biden campaign from the time when Joe Biden was Vice President Of America from 2013 to 2017 under later-President Barack Obama. Cholleti Vinay Reddy is son of an Indian doctor Narayan Reddy who migrated to the US in the 1970s. Reddy basically belongs from a village near KarimNagar district in Telangana called Pothireddypet. Vinay was born and raised in

Ohio,US and completed his graduation in law from Ohio State University College of Law. He currently lives in New York with his wife and their two daughters. Reddy along with his family often visits their village and meets their relatives and friends. They had last visited the village last year only. The family had even donated funds to a temple and schools of the village for their upliftment as he still remembers his roots. Reddy’s understanding of social issues and politics is probably in his genes since his grandfather Tirupati Reddy had served as the village sarpanch. Whole village feels proud for his achievements and sending their wishes.

Daily Labourer: The Bravest Survivors The lockdown due to covid broke the meter of misery for the labourer community

Akshita Singh

Jaipur: No one could dodge the blows of COVID-19 and here is another heart wrenching tale of the labour community, whose already pitiful life broke the meter of misery because of the lockdown. The labour chauwks of the city are crowded on Monday morning. The labours from all parts of the district came here in search of some work so that they can earn a meal for their family. “After lockdown, the food trucks were stopped and our families went on starving for days until one of the family member got work and brought back 300 or 500 rupees on lucky days, only then could the family have a meal”, said a labour who is here looking for some work. It is not the story but the realities

of thousands of families that find themselves lucky if any member finds a wage for the day. These people, young and old, man and women, they all leave their nests early with just a gulp of water and a hope of taking back a proper meal for their children. They arrive at nearest labour chowks at early morning and stay there until 12 PM. Some lucky ones get the job for the day and others go back home with new excuses

to tell their children of why they would have to go to bed with an empty stomach again. This lockdown destroyed many dreams and hopes of people. The labour class is struggling for a single meal a day to feed its family. Before lockdown, food wasn’t one of the main worries because on the workless days they could just hush their bellies by the food given by government food trucks

“Madan Mahal Pink Station” where women shows the way

under Annapoorna Yojna. Talking to labours who assemble here, we found that these people come from different parts of the state and how they ended up in Jaipur in the search of better and more wages, still even on luckiest months these people find work on 15 days, other 15 just pass in hoping. It would be surprising to know that in this crowd of survivors many are well educated with the

degree of senior secondary or even under graduation, still the piece of paper just stayed piece of paper as now they struggle to have a warm home in harsh winters. The homes provided by the government has reports of pick pocketing and theft collecting dust in the drawers and a lobourer who earns Rs 300 a day can’t afford to get it stolen. Hopes in the eyes of these people who wait with their hearts on the run every time a new person comes with the offering of work is so heart wrenching that you would start appreciating the morning tea your mother places in front of you every morning because you don’t have to make six cups of one cup of tea. If life is a war for all of us then I believe these people are the bravest survivors.

The budding journalist Suyash Khanna interacted with the station manager Miss Arti Yadav. She described it as a good initiative towards Women Empowerment. When asked about facing difficulties in job, she answered, “Many challenges come and go but all the women who are employed here are brave enough and capable that they can deal on their own though they

have not faced any disrespect or any dispute till now. The major challenge that our lady warriors face is working in night shift. Even though their families are concerned about their well-being and safety, the staff shows full faith on RPF. When asked about how their performance is different than a normal staff consisting of both men and women, she replied, “Women do their work with utmost sincerity when they work. Women are in a strong role in the society and Madan Mahal Pink Station is a reflection of that.
