Women Empowerment: Bihar model

The new reforms support women to stand shoulder by shoulder with men in all sectors.

Ghanistha Vyas and Ridhika Dayal Das

Jaipur. Women empowerment is the concept we have been hearing since the 1990s but this concept started taking shape after 2005 and actual results are showing up now after so many years. In Bihar, this concept has been unfolding since 2005 when Nitish Kumar ascended into tthe chief minister’s chair second time. Bihar government has been helping women to establish their careers in all sectors by providing them reservations and monetary help. Recently the Bihar government reserved 33 per cent seats for girls in medical and engineering colleges. The Nitish-led government had in 2006 reserved 50 per cent seats for girls in primary schools and 35 per cent in secondary schools at the panchayat levels. To encourage girls to pursue higher education, the state gives a cash incentive of Rs 50,000 to those who pass their graduation and Rs. 25,000 to those who clear senior secondary. Women-centric schemes such as bicycles and school uniforms for girls have been hugely popular in the state and have been extended to boys as well. The state has also reserved 35

sector.

phase of the three-phase 2020 state assembly elections. Female literacy rate has gone up from 37% to 50% between 200506 and 2015-16 reveals National Family Health Survey 201516. In the job sector, according to a paper by Alakh N. Sharma published in the Economic and Political Weekly in December 2015, 86% of women in Bihar are not economically active. Of those engaged in any form of work, 71% work in the agriculture, livestock and fishing

To know more about women empowerment policies in Bihar budding journalist Ghanistha Vyas interacted with supply inspector who cleared BPSC CCE recently Ms. Divya Gautam, currently working as an Assistant Professor in Patna Womens’ college, Patna and pursuing Ph.D. from BITS PILANI. Book Review

Six Of Crows

If one is not welcomed in the pack of Doves, one has to become a Crow. Akshita Singh

Olympic Games have been held in 20 cities. The last Olympic Games was held in India in 2010. India has only hosted a handful of multi- sports events - the Asian games in 1951 and 1982 and the Commonwealth Games in 2010 in New Delhi. India has been the most successful hockey team at the Olympics. The Indian field hockey team won the gold medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics by defeating Great Britain in the final. It was the first gold medal for India as an independent nation.

They sent their first ever hockey contingent to the Olympics during the 1928 Amsterdam games . The country has since won a total of 11 medals in the sport at the Olympics: 8 gold, 1 silver and two bronze. The Olympics gives athletes the opportunity to show off their strength and skills. The games are very popular because they bring together people from all nations of the world, not only to compete in true sportsmanship, but also to remind us of the quest for peace among all nations.

If you are a fan of money heists then you will definitely enjoy this heist by a bunch of brave teenagers. Six of Crows is the first book in american fantasy author Leigh Bardugo’s duology about a group of teenage boys and girls with abilities like no other. The book has Six crows, Six kids trying to survive in the cruel world by beating cruelty. The book takes place in the fictional city of Ketterdam, where the rich gets their way up while the poor turns to orphans, the story in this book may look unrealistic because of the magical elements present but it is just the same as real world, where poor never have it easy and everyone has to bend their morals or completely break them in order to survive. The story of an orphan betrayed by trust and left alone, a suli girl sold to a brothel, a shooter buried deep in gambling debt, a witch escaping the stake and a witch hunter who fell for the witch.

Now that the reality is weighing us down too hard, why not take a break from it and dive into the world of adventure. This book is 5 stars and totally worth giving the time.
