Dear Members and Apprentices, Special thanks to all of the members and apprentices that attended this years’ annual meeting. There were more than 350 members and apprentices who attended and over half of those (180) stayed and participated in the Pro-Pro event following the meeting. Special thanks to Chris Cain and Ralph West for their service on the Board of Directors, to Drew Reid and Jay Larscheid who were elected to an additional term and to the newly elected Board of Directors Craig Hocknull and Jesus Martinez. We appreciate the donation of your time and talents to our association. While it is heating up in the Valley and Las Vegas, we have about eighty of our professionals gearing up for their season in the cooler climate of Arizona. Best of luck to you in the coming months in bringing this great game to your members and guests! We look forward to visiting you at the two day pro-am at Flagstaff Ranch in June and the two day pro-am event at Torreon in July. PGA Member Benefits With the new format to the Annual Meeting to include a guest speaker and long networking breaks, there was little time to add some minor items that may be of interest to you. Some of these would include some PGA member benefits:  Samsung – Members have access to GREAT pricing on all electronics (excluding cell phones)  KitchenAid—Similar benefits for all appliances (See link at pgalinks.com -- Click on Benefits and Click on Personal)  Many great Resources/Templates can be found on pgalinks.com as well. Items include print materials, email-templates, banners, business cards, etc (See link at pgalinks.com -- Click on Benefits and Click on Facility and Click on Resources) Or Look for the

logo and follow the link from there.

Youth Sports Background Checks Any professionals who work with Juniors/Youth Golf will be “required” to have a background check done—as will any volunteers, staff, family or friends who assist you with any programming or events in this area. Erring on the side of great caution, the PGA of America has solicited advice from other organizations and has researched options for accomplishing this important step. Background screening will be provided by First Advantage through an online process at a cost of approximately $5.00 per individual. Additional information will be coming shortly on how and where these background checks may be completed. Trump Partners with PGA PGA Agrees to partner with KPMG and LPGA Major PGA of America recently agreed to partner with The Trump Organization and have selected Trump National Golf Club-Bedminster for the 2022 PGA Championship and Trump National Golf Club-Washington for the 2017 Senior PGA Championship. In addition, KPMG, PGA of America and LPGA joined forces to create a World-Class Major Championship, the KPMG Women's PGA Championship for 2015. Drive Chip and Putt Please encourage your Juniors to participate in the local Drive Chip and Putt events. Lone Tree is conducting their event on June 2nd and Tucson Country Club on June 7th . Check online at www.Drivechipandputt.com to find dates times and locations nearest to you. With more than 250 sites and all 50 states being represented this year—it will be a tough road to Augusta. Respectfully, Curt Hudek, PGA Executive Director

Water Hazard Troubles – March 6, 2014 – The Ruling A player’s ball played from the fairway comes to rest in a water hazard near the putting green in a difficult lie. The player plays the ball as it lies in the water hazard and the ball flies over the putting green into another water hazard behind the putting green. The player returns to where he had played his stroke in the fairway and plays a substituted ball from as nearly as possible to where he had last played from outside a water hazard. The player completes the hole and continues the round. How does the Committee rule on this incident? **The player has proceeded in accordance with Rule 26-2a(iii) and incurred a penalty of one stroke for relief from the water hazard.
