It has come to our attention that a client of an ACAT in WA has received a phone call from someone claiming to be from My Aged Care. The caller asked for $25 and bank details to register the client for My Aged Care. We have asked that this incident be reported to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. Please be advised of this event and be aware that this is not how My Aged Care operates - there is no cost to register. You should also report any suspicious activity to us and we will notify the department. Information on scams and how to report them is available at 'Scamwatch". 2

1.Narelle Brett I have worked at SWCC as a Care Worker for nearly 2 years. I have 2 daughters, Shannon 16, and Tayler, who passed away 3 years ago. In my spare time I love catching up with my family and my friends. I love True Crime, either documentaries or fiction. I absolutely love my role as a Care Worker. I feel it is what I was supposed to be. SWCC has been so supportive of me and my goals. I look forward to seeing all my consumers every day! I could not ask for a better organisation to work for. 2.Deborah Seaman I have lived in Bunbury for 18yrs. I love cooking, gardening and looking after my 4 grandies whom I adore. I love caring for seniors which makes working for SWCC ideal. 3.Dianne Duce I have worked with SWCC for 4 years in the role as Care Worker. I am a local resident and have lived in Eaton for 20 years but grew up in Boyanup. I have a teenage son. I used to volunteer for the Bush Fire Brigade and the State Emergency Service when I had more free time. 4.Tracey Marinoni I’ve worked in the Aged Care Industry for five years now. In my downtime, if I’m not spending time with my family or reading yet another book, you’ll probably find me researching my family tree. It’s been a passion of mine for over a decade and, thankfully, the last thing my ancestors can be called, is dull. Recently, I solved a 112 year old enigma for the Byron Bay Historical Society as it involved a family member of mine - which I had only just finished researching. I was quite chuffed! I just love a good mystery and the thrill of the unsolvable. www.swcommunitycare.org.au

9.Jody Hodges I have lived in Australind for 20 years. I enjoy gardening, sewing, craft, cooking, fishing and most of all spending time with my family and friends. I sum myself up as a real country girl with strong family values. I find my role as a Care Worker to be very rewarding. I commenced working with SWCC in 2012 and have been fortunate enough to complete my Certificate 3 in Individual Support during this time. I work with a great team which makes coming to work enjoyable . Another aspect of my role I love is when my consumer's share helpful tips about cooking, gardening and their life experiences. 10.Tina Warrington I have been delivering domestic assistance services for SWCC in a casual capacity while working towards a Certificate III in Aged Care. I've been married for 32 yrs and have two adult children . I have lived in Australind for 11 years. What I love about my job is meeting new people, communicating, listening and helping , laughing and making people feel good about themselves. 11. Candice Ligman I love working for SWCC and enjoy meeting all the interesting people in the community. There's so much to learn from all our consumers and it's a good feeling to think we might have helped make someone's day a bit brighter or easier. I'm local to Australind and enjoy gardening and have just taken up (left handed) crocheting. While I can only make beanies at the moment, I'm hoping to make something more complex...in time. 12.Denise Oliver I live in Australind and have four adult children. I enjoy gardening and growing my own plants from cuttings, reading and cooking a roast on my Weber Q. I love spending time with my family and grandson. I love working for SWCC as a team member. I meet some interesting people and find it very rewarding. www.swcommunitycare.org.au

Men’s Shed Harvey Men’s Shed held their annual lawn bowls outing and competition on the 8th September. The weather was kind to us and the flies stayed away, which helped to make for an enjoyable fun day.

As usual the bowling was of a good standard and those competing using all the tricks to get an advantage, some legal and some borderline but our resident referee, Lance, ably assisted by Eric made sure the competition adhered to the rules. It was tight right up to the last end resulting in a dead heat between Wally and Allan. This was a big turn around for Wal considering last year he came in stone last! At the conclusion of the bowls all enjoyed a lovely lunch of chicken and chips followed by ice cream. A special thanks to Jamie-Lee for preparing and dishing up the lunch. Bowls has become a popular event for the men as even those unable to compete are able to enjoy the competition then over lunch, relaxing with their mates .We look forward to next year’s competition! 18
