COORDINATING PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE GRACE TO YOU From Pentecost 2012 to Pentecost 2013, the Bishops of Australia have invited us to join them in a ‘Year of Grace’. During this year we are challenged to “start afresh with Christ”.

St Paul started every single one of his letters with the greeting “Grace to you….” These were his words of greeting and farewell. Whenever Paul wrote about grace he used an ancient Greek word ‘Charis’ which is roughly translated as ‘joy’.

There is a wonderful gathering of other words around the word ‘grace’. It is also associated with favour, gift, blessing, thanksgiving and gratitude.

Bishop Peter Comensoli, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Sydney, suggests a simple definition of grace as “a real gift (from God) that is a blessing, freely given as a benefit and received as a joy, prompting gratitude and thanksgiving”.

Bishop Comensoli goes on to explain that grace is the call and response – the invitation and the acceptance – of love. Love needs a giver, a receiver and the gift itself. The more we love, the more we grow in grace. In this ‘Year of Grace’ we are called to pray more often and to have an open heart to God’s grace which has the power to transform us, our families and the world in which we live.

Mr Jim O’Brien Coordinating Principal

SCHOOL FEE REMINDER I appreciate the wonderful support we receive from parents and a considerable number of grandparents who make the payment of school fees a high priority. I also appreciate the commitment many have made by so readily embracing the preferred ‘direct debit’ method of paying fees. This method gives us a cash flow throughout the year and enables us to meet our own financial commitments on an on-going basis. If you have outstanding fees I would urge you to finalise the account as soon as possible. This will assist us greatly to meet our own commitments and provide the resources required to maintain a high standard of teaching and learning. Anyone experiencing financial difficulties and who may be unable to meet the standard fee, should not hesitate to contact our school Fees Manager, Brian Kirkman (6588 7444), so that alternative arrangements can be made. SUBJECT FEES I would also appreciate parents paying all students’ subject and excursion fees. All these fees are paid directly to the venues or cover transport cost incurred to run these extra activities. If you are in need of assistance please call me as soon as possible.

“May the spirit of the Lord be with you” Mrs Anne O’Brien Principal
