Business Spotlight: E.F. Edwards Financial, Inc
Joe T. Stroud, Jr.
E. F. Edwards Financial was founded as a Mortgage Broker company in Tucson in 1986 by Earnest F. Edwards. In 1993, Mr. Edwards opened our current office at 77 Calle Portal in Sierra Vista. In 1999, the company was acquired by my wife (Phyllis Stroud) and me. In June, 2009 the company was incorporated and licensed as an Arizona Mortgage Banker company. E. F. Edwards is a full service real estate mortgage company offering both conventional and government mortgage loans. Our company has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, is a member of the Sierra Visa Area Chamber, the National Association of Mortgage Professionals, the Arizona Association of Mortgage Professionals, and was selected by the Sierra Vista Area Chamber and the residents of our community as the 20092009-2010 Sierra Vista Small Business of the Year. President
How long have you been with the company and what motivated you to become a part of their team? I am delighted to have been a member of the E. F. Edwards Financial team since November 1995. I joined the company as a mortgage loan originator. In 1999 we bought the company and I was licensed as a Mortgage Broker. During my 30 year career in the Army, I wanted to own my own business and to be a part of a community. When the opportunity to join the company was presented, I accepted with the understanding that I could buy it when the founder retired. I was drawn to the company because of its reputation for dependability, integrity, and customer service. What qualities and characteristics most contribute to being a part of the company? The most important characteristics that lead to success with our company include a sense of personal and professional responsibility to our customers. To succeed, we must consistently demonstrate our dedication to hard work, integrity, dependability and continuing education. Ours is a rapidly changing industry. What worked yesterday just might not work today or tomorrow. In what way does the company and / or you contribute back to the community? Our most important contribution to our community is honest, dependable real estate mortgage service. Our first priority is to take care of our customers and their families. We’ve informally adopted the Hippocratic Oath of the Primum non nocere” … first of all, do no harm. We are also fully vested in our Sierra Vista and medical profession: “Primum Cochise County communities. We’ve worked with civic organizations and foundations to improve the quality of life of our residents. We’ve provided financial contributions to such organizations and foundations as “Real Wishes Foundation,” “Team Crunch,” and the Naco Station Border Patrol annual regional football tournament. We’ve supported our city and state governments by serving as a member of the Sierra Vista Planning and Zoning Commission and the Arizona Board of Appraisal. In summary, the community has been very supportive of our company for the past 21 years; we strive to be just as supportive of the community.
