The Child Just Gives Us the Opportunity When a parent enrolls their child in the residential program at Sheridan House, it is just the beginning of a long-term relationship … a relationship between Sheridan House and the parent. We don’t just “take” into the child into our program. We want to work with the whole family. The child’s behavior gives us the opportunity to help the whole family unit. In fact, that’s a requirement. When a parent refers a child they are told, as part of their payment, they must attend the ongoing parenting meetings. In fact, it is a requirement!

People today are trained to be experts in many areas of life. Parenting is not one of them. It’s amazing that we can do this incredibly important job called parenting without any training— but; not if you want your child at Sheridan House. Why is the parent training mandatory? With God’s help, we want to send a different child home to a prepared family. The mission is to prepare parents to continue the training program that began at Sheridan House. As the mom in this month’s featured story indicated, a different child, returning to a different home, will yield a different future for that child.
