BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE
Client: University of Birmingham Value: ÂŁ1.3m Location: Birmingham Working closely with the University of Birmingham we have completed numerous projects over the past 12 months. Delivering works within Elgar Court student accommodation, we completed the phased refurbishment of 40 communal kitchens, providing new floorings, ceilings, redecorations and all furniture. Other areas of work included the fast paced redecoration of Shakleton Hall, boiler replacements to the medical school and Maple Banks student accommodation plus a selection of fire compartmentation works across the campus.
University of Birmingham, Multiple Projects
Client: Bromsgrove School Value: ÂŁ10.8m Location: Bromsgrove This two stage design and build project saw the simulataneous construction of new classrooms, offices and communal areas throughout the Bromsgrove School Campus. The main works covered refurbishing an existing auditorium in Routh Hall and the construction equivalent of keyhole surgery to install a new auditorium in the centre of the fully operational Cobham Hall. Successfully accelerating our original programme within the live school environment, all operational areas were completed for the new school term as requested by the client.
Bromsgrove School Performing Arts Facilities
Client: Birmingham Properties Group Value: £8.1m Location: Birmingham 88 Bromsgrove House is situated in the city’s Chinese Quarter and provides luxury student accommodation for those studying in the local area. The project involved the construction of 140 high end studios and one bedroom apartments alongside communal areas and commercial retail units. The property also boasts amazing communal spaces including a cinema lounge, cookhouse, multiple snug and games areas, a karaoke suite, study rooms and even a gym. Throughout the project we maintained a strong relationship with Birmingham City Council to effectively manage road closures and ensure minimal disruption was caused to the surrounding area.
88 Bromsgrove House
Client: University of Wolverhampton Value: £780k Location: Wolverhampton Working within the University’s Wulfruna building we delivered three phases of refurbishments under their Building Works Framework. The project included internal alterations to a basement social area, the transformation of disused laboratory spaces into a new chemical engineering room and the complete refurbishment of the Vice Chancellor’s boardroom. Works were successfully completed within a live environment and a close relationship was maintained with the University’s estates team to establish logistics plans and schedule plant access each day.
University of Wolverhampton, Multiple Projects
Client: easyHotel Value: £3.5m Location: Birmingham Work at easyHotel Birmingham saw the conversion and refurbishment of the Grade II listed Rosebury Building to create a ‘super budget’ hotel in the heart of the city centre. Comprised of 86 en-suite bedrooms, an entrance reception and staff facilities spanning four floors, the project included the complete fit out of the rooms alongside the installation of partition walls, ceilings and floor coverings. The hotel was chosen as easyHotel’s first launch of 2017 due to its excellent location on John Bright Street.
easyHotel Birmingham
Client: KSL Capital Partners Value: £4.1m Location: West Midlands The Belfry Hotel and Resort project involved a three phase programme designed to restore the resort’s reputation as a world class facility. The project involved a series of fast track refurbishments and remodelling works to the restaurant, kitchens and bar alongside the building’s main lobby and external entrance. All areas of the hotel remained in full operation throughout the delivery of works and the project was ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Refurbishment of the Year’ category at the National Federation of Builders Awards.
The Belfry Hotel and Resort
Client: Arena Coventry Limited Value: ÂŁ2.6m Location: Coventry The project entailed the refurbishment of 121 bedrooms, the main reception area and the formation of a new gym delivered over two phases. Phase one included the creation of two mock up rooms, which on approval saw the delivery of a further 74 guest rooms completed on a turnkey basis including all furniture and fittings. The remaining rooms were refurbished to the same standard during the second phase of works. The hotel remained operational throughout the works, with the bedrooms being released and handed back to the client in agreed smaller phases, all of which were programmed to cause minimum disruption to guests.
DoubleTree by Hilton at Ricoh Arena
Client: Empiric Student Property Value: ÂŁ14.4m Location: Birmingham Situated in bustling Eastside Park and surrounded by educational institutes, student accommodation and the Thinktank Science Museum, The Emporium project will bring a historically important building back into active use. Involving the design and construction of a 15 storey student accommodation tower block, the project consists of both new build and intricate refurbishment works, incorporating the Grade II listed former Christopher Wray Lighting factory. In addition to student accommodation, the completed project will provide retail units, office space and bars.
