“So death works in us, but life in you” (2 Cor 4:12 ) Every month when we consider you who support us financially, our hearts are filled with gratitude and thanksgiving. We know that each of you, in spite your own financial struggles and the stress and difficulties at your workplace, you give willingly to us. We feel privileged by this but very undeserving. This Summer I have been preparing notes for 2nd Corinthians. I will be teaching it for the first time this Fall.

Sarah and “friend” Stephen

There were some issues separating the Corinthians from the Apostle Paul. There were those who were spreading lies about Paul and casting doubt on his qualifications to be an apostle of Christ. You would expect a vindictive rebuke but instead the Apostle

3 generations of missionaries. Pop, yours truly and Richard 3rd .

Paul spends the first 7 chapters lovingly convincing his disciples of his sincerity, qualifications, and ongoing love for them. He claims that as a result of his afflictions, he carries the “dying of the Lord Jesus” in his body and that this dying in him produces life in them. He acts as if we should expect rejection from others and it is actually a vital part of spiritual development. Wow! What an encouragement for us in our relationships that we would have this same thinking. We (Chels, Rae, Suzie and I) returned recently from Missouri where we attended a time of “Enrichment” with 300 other “New Tribers”. One speaker had just returned from Cambodia where, while standing at a “killing fields”

monument, he realized he was standing on skeletal remains. It was a stark reminder for all of us the serious nature of our calling. We also spent time with family. Mom and Dad Bruce were there as well as Rae’s brother Tim, my bother Joe and sister Sue along with their families. Our next big trip is the end of July when we will be driving out to Seattle to perform a wedding ceremony and to visit family members along the way. Pray that the life of Christ “might be made manifest in our mortal flesh”! (2 Co 4:11) Thank you for your amazing participation in the greatest work of all time. The “ministry of reconciliation” (2 Co 5:18) :-) Love, Rich, Rae, Chels & Suzie

This guy has a name and a soul. Where will he spend eternity and what did I do about it?
