Our little bundle is finally here! Richard the fourth (Rye) has been lighting up our world with his loud burps, ticklish feet and cuddly sleeping times for the past four weeks. Maybe we’re biased… but we think he’s perfect. After a short bout of jaundice where his bilirubin count got up to a high of 15.8, he has been healthy, happy and a constant joy. It hasn’t all been smooth sailing since he was born, however… Sharon went back to the hospital on August 30th with eclampsia, a very serious condition characterized by seizures, high blood pressure, and elevated liver enzymes. This was a scary time during which we felt your love and prayers for us every day. Thank-‐you. Looking forward we still have a long ways to go before we’ll be “one hundred percent.” Besides adjusting to the “new normal” of life with a family, we’re also monitoring Sharon’s liver enzymes and stress levels for signs of another possible seizure.

September 2013 This week I read through I Samuel. It’s amazing to see how much God can do through one child who is dedicated to God by his parents. Samuel’s life contrasts sharply with that of the lives of Eli’s sons, Hophni and Phinehas. According to the Bible they were “worthless men,” who didn’t take the sacrifices of the Lord serious and used their position as sons of the High Priest for selfish gain. We’re dedicating little Rye to the way of Samuel, who listens to God’s voice and obeys. Thanks for your love and prayers! Ric, Sharon, and Rye
