Who Would Train… Mono-cultural, mono-lingual, sometimes “clueless” young people

To be:

Lean, (not so) mean crosscultural church planting machines!

...Rae and I help train them!!!!!! We continue to expend our efforts to bring young people to an understanding of God, His infinite grace, and His plan of redemption for the world. Some of the first couples we invested in have just left these shores for their fields of service.

Dave and Darlene Hall have their tickets “in hand” and are leaving soon. Please pray.

Our support level is reaching a critical low (35% of the recommended).

“Bruce kids” (see other side)

For various reasons our support level has continued to drop. If you would like to invest in these young lives through us, you can give online at www.ntm.org/ give/2113 — or send a check made out to: New Tribes Mission, 1000 E First Street, Sanford FL 32771. Please specify for Rich and Rae Bruce, Acct # 228300.

Suzie’s Side Note: Suzie came home from school a couple of months ago agitated and unable to sit comfortably. We had her show us the “problem area” and there buried in her flesh (bum) was a sliver of wood that was at least 3/4 of an inch long. We thought, “Wow that’s huge”! She said it happened on the playground at school. 6 weeks after the “sliver” episode, she had a “boil” on her “backside” . This “sore” continued to fester and would not heal. We couldn’t remember the exact location of the original sliver so we did not make the

Ric and Sharon: connection. One night, after a feel her pain when it dawned on warm bath, we noticed the us how agonizing the pain must “boil” ready to burst. We en- have been at times. couraged it along with a sterile needle and out popped another sliver almost an inch long! Later Chelsea retrieved another piece that left the original sliver measuring almost two inches long!!! This had been buried in her bottom for almost two months. The sad part is that at times she tried to express that she was in pain. We even ran her to the doctor once when she complained. Suzie was unable to convey her misery in a way that would make us understand. Believe me, Rae and I began to

Ric and Sharon continue to prepare for overseas missionary work. Sharon is taking her linguistics training in Oklahoma. She is dissecting the Cherokee Indian language. This will prepare her to help her co-workers learn a language that has never been spoken by an outsider. Go Sharon!

Sarah has a “friend”: Did you know:

Sarah and Stephen have been “seeing” each other for 6 months now. Stephen is from a great family in Ohio. We only hold the Ohio part against him on game day. Stephen is finishing up his degree at Cleveland State, with accounting as his major. Pray for Sarah and Stephen.

The Cherokee people were evangelized by crosscultural missionaries. The only “Native American” tribes that have “survived” as a people have been those with scripture translated into their language.

Sam and Kari are in Virginia: Sam and Kari have decided to spend a year in Norfolk Virginia before continuing on with their missionary training. Kari’s home church is in the Norfolk area. Sam is working at Advance Auto selling car parts.

Requests: Suzie’s health (wisdom for the doctors), New ministry partners, Wisdom and strength to carry out our ministry here. We’re Thankful: For your partnership in reaching the last tribe for Christ! Please pray!

Chelsea is a college girl: Chelsea packed a few boxes, grabbed her guitar and unceremoniously began a new era of her life. She said she wasn’t crying because she was leaving but she was crying because the moment was so long in coming! Just kidding. She is studying hard at NTBI and trusting God to grow her mightily in grace over these next two years. Go Chelsea!
