IN THAILAND

Oriented. Settled. Surgery.

Beautiful Thailand That’s pretty much the first word that comes to my mind as we get settled in here. Some of the animals that live in our yard are in zoos in the States. The most stunning manmade structures in Thailand, however, are also the most sinister. The lies promulgated within the walls of our local houses of worship deceive many. Please join us praying for this nation and its people.

Experience your first weeks in Thailand with us.

Important Holidays November 21st, 2010 Loy Krathong Festival: Krathong floating, fireworks, cultural performances and a light and sound show. December 5th, 2010 His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Birthday: huge portraits of the king are raised, prisoners released, buildings decorated. December 25th, 2010 Christmas may actually be bigger in Thailand than it is back home. Preparations begin in early October: music in the malls, trees for sale, etc. It’s a big outreach time for churches.

Have a seat with us at a local restaurant here in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The first thing you’ll notice is that the prices are far lower than those you’re used to: about a dollar per meal. Turn your attention to the pungent aroma of BARBECUED INTESTINES

fish sauce and deep frying. Behind you flows the sluggish, brown waters of the Ping river. Close your eyes and you’re well on your way to enjoying a homecooked Northern Thai meal. Thai food is awesome!

You know you’re in Thailand when... the things on the barbecue don’t look familiar. In fact, you never knew that part of the pig existed. Your next question, logically, is wether the meat you’re looking at is edible. We love our church and we were thrilled when they invited us to a barbecue in one of our pastor’s homes and we can’t wait for the next barbecue. It just may take us a while to get used to the chewy intensities, rubbery stomach linings and crunchy cartilage pieces.
