Hello from Thailand 01/11/12

November News

Settling in and getting to work We spent the first week just adjusting to Thailand again. Now we’re back to work full steam. We’ve been back in Thailand for a full month now! It’s hard to believe. Then again, when we came back it felt like we’d never left. We’ve reached a critical junction in our work, lives and ministry: we’re gaining momentum and really beginning to flourish as we settle back into our home. Our focus has shifted from formal language study to intensive culture study. To facilitate this we’ve hired a Buddhist teacher. We interview her for 3 hours every day then interview another person in our lives about the same topic. The reason we do this (then spend hours processing the data) is to make sure that we understand how our friends see the world. We’re excited to see what this next six months will bring!

Visas Our visas have become a bit more… complicated. Currently our visa must be renewed in 90 day cycles which creates a lot of hassles, especially for the office staff. Please pray with us that we can get our one year visa soon!

Why are we here? Anyone can survive. We want to thrive. We try to live each day in light of a bigger purpose, a higher calling to give people who haven’t had the chance to hear about Jesus that awesome opportunity. Ultimately, we’re not here for ourselves or for New Tribes Mission or for you. We’re here for a people group. Our vision is to see churches planted, and then mature and grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus. Whether that happens or not we’re here to obey God’s call on our lives. Thank-you for your part in that calling. We can’t do our job without your financial support, encouragement and prayer.

Our prayer for this next month is that as we experience new things, try new foods, speak new words, understand new concepts and meet new friends that we would be like Christ to a broken and needy world. Please join us in praying for Thailand, a very lost and needy part of the world… our home.
