RI President - RON D. BURTON

July 2013 Dear fellow Rotarians, This is an incredibly exciting time to be a Rotarian. This Rotary year can be one of the greatest years we have yet experienced in Rotary – but it is up to each one of us. We are now writing the last chapter in our fight against polio. While it has been a long, hard journey, we have learned many valuable lessons. We have learned that as a group we can move mountains, we can change people’s lives for the better, and we can honestly make a difference in our world. Perhaps the greatest lesson has been that the more we challenge ourselves, the more we can achieve. We are also embarking on a new chapter in the storied history of our Rotary Foundation. We have the rare privilege of launching an entirely new grant structure we’ve come to know as Future Vision. It gives us the opportunity to challenge ourselves to do the absolute most we can, with all of our resources. Just think how much more we can do with a stronger Foundation, with stronger clubs filled with more Rotarians who are fully engaged in Rotary service. It’s time for us to recognize that the real challenge we face isn’t just bringing new members into Rotary. It’s turning all members into true Rotarians. It’s helping members get engaged in Rotary – helping them realize the potential they have, and how their Rotary service can change lives. We need to make sure that every member is active and contributing, and making a real difference – because when you’re doing meaningful work in Rotary, Rotary is meaningful to you. When we realize what we can achieve in Rotary – when we really engage Rotary – that’s when lives change. We change the lives of the people who need us. That is inevitable. And along the way, our lives are changed as well. That is also inevitable. That’s what our theme is all about in 2013-14: Engage Rotary, Change Lives. It’s time to open our eyes to the potential each of us has through Rotary. Rotary lets us reach higher, do more, and be a part of something larger than ourselves. No matter how much we give to Rotary, we get more in return. And that, too, is inevitable. In 2013-14, let’s turn all of our potential into reality. It’s up to us. We can do it by engaging in Rotary service, by getting involved, by staying inspired, and by remembering every day the gift we have in Rotary. Together, we will Engage Rotary, Change Lives Ron D. Fellow Rotarians, Our club started the Rotary Year 2013-2014 with our best foot forward. We already have 2 Brigada Eskwela District Kick -Off Projects. The "Adopt a Classroom" and the "Aklat, Lapis, Papel at iba pa..." projects. In the Adopt a Classroom project, we worked together with the Homeroom officers and members, Rotaractors in cleaning and repainting of 1 classroom. Both parents, teachers , and students were happy with the outcome since it comes out to be a better and a conducive place to study. The 'Aklat, Lapis, Papel at iba pa..." Project is the distribution of books , school supplies and teacher's manual to 11 Barangay San Vicente Daycare Schools with a total of 400 school children. It was a tiring day for everybody, but you feel relieved when you see the youthful face of the school children smiling and full of hope as they received their share of the books and school supplies. We are very happy that in our little way, we touch the lives of these school children and thus hope to enlighten their future. In rotary, we always think of others. We are bound to help. Thus, by helping we gave hope to others, by spreading this ideals, others may follow and that we may change their lives for a better community. Our members always give their full support on every projects. Sometimes they prefer to give their precious time in our activities rather than spending time with their families. Our donors, like "Bato Balani Foundation Inc." put their trust in us to perform our projects, so that we could deliver more services. It changes my life too, that I became more generous being more privilege than others. Delivering our actions gives as a sense of fulfillment as we Engage Rotary, Change Lives!

Editor and TRF Chair’s corner Last July 7, 2013, Barangay San Vicente held its first ever Barangay Recognition and Awards Night. In the pursuit of its objectives of serving the constituents of Barangay San Vicente, the local executives are aware that there is a need to coordinate their efforts with various organizations and individuals who can also provide assistance to the Barangay to ensure success of its programs. It was also a night to celebrate the natal day of Punong Barangay Allan Mark V. Villena So in appreciation of the roles played by these organizations, they were given Plaques of Appreciation during the night’s festivities. Among the groups were, Homeowners Associations, Neighborhood Associations and various civic groups. RC San Pedro South was among the civic groups which received Plaque of Appreciation since RCSPS has been regularly working hand in hand with the Barangay on some projects. Among these projects are Water for Life at Pacita Elementary School, Job Fair (2x a year), Buntis Party, International Coastal Cleanup. Of course the beneficiaries of the Club’s service projects are also mostly residents of Brgy. San Vicente. An RCSPS Club member, PN Lita Gray received her own separate Plaque of Appreciation. She has been consistently in charge of the SSS booth during Job Fairs. Her Plaque reads as follows;

Another Brigada Eskwela project was conducted last July 12, 2013 for a Grade 1 Section of Pacita Elementary School. School supplies (pad paper, pencil, eraser, sharpener and a book) placed in a plastic bag were given to all 50 students of Teacher Grace Mocadis. The school children greeted Pres. Fe with a birthday song. TRF UPDATE!!! District 3820 set a record TRF contribution of P387,993 in a single day, July 1, 2013.

2111111111111111 ADMINISTRATION DUES The dues that clubs pay to Rotary through the semiannual report (SAR) allow the Secretariat to provide high-quality support to Rotarians around the world. Here are some suggestions for club officers who submit SAR dues: 1. Keep membership information current and accurate. Use Member Access or your local systemto: a. Update information at least twice a year, and no later than 1 June and 1 December. b. Make sure that the names of all current officers are correctly entered in the system and that all future officers are named no later than 31 May. c. Ensure that email addresses for all members, especially current and future officers, are current. d. Set up a club email address that can be transitioned to future officers in order to help maintain a consistent flow of communications with Rotary. 2. Add Rotary email addresses to your contacts. To help ensure that email from Rotary is not rejected or filtered as spam, add rotary_international_sar@microdg.comandri_club_finance@rotaryintl.org to your email contacts. 3. Go paperless. Update your email preferences in Member Access to receive only the electronic copy of the SAR. RI per capita dues are as follows: · $26.00 per half year in 2012-13 · $26.50 per half year in 2013-14 All clubs will also be billed $1 per person on their July semiannual invoice to help defray the costs of the Council on Legislation, which meets every three years. Some semiannual invoices may also include variable charges for The Rotarian magazine (subscriptions to Rotary regional magazines are billed separately), and variable fees for insurance (U.S. clubs only). See the Manual of Procedure for more information. Payment of dues All club semiannual dues are due and payable on 1 July and 1 January. Every named club officer will receive an electronic copy of the SAR at the end of June and December. Every named club secretary will receive a paper semiannual report packet, which includes the dues invoice, in early July and early January (unless your club has opted out of the paper SAR). If your club has not received a packet by the SAR p.8

third week of July or January, please send a request for a replacement packet to data@rotary.org, including your club name and number and delivery address or fax number. Remember, club dues are due and payable even if you have not received the packet. Rotary International exchange rates are re-evaluated monthly. Payments will be received and credited at the official RI exchange rate applicable at the time payment is received. Please refer to the exchange rates page in order to see Rotary’s current exchange rates. Club presidents, treasurers, and secretaries can pay semiannual dues in several ways: · Online through Member Access via credit card (Note: Indian clubs cannot make online payments due to tax and regulatory issues.) · Check or draft with the semiannual dues packet · Wire transfer If you have questions about the semiannual dues invoice or need information about where to send payments, please contact your RI financial representative. Club membership data For the most accurate semiannual dues invoice, please make sure your club’s membership information is up to date by no later than 1 December for the January SAR and 1 June for the July SAR. Any changes made after those dates will not be reflected on your club’s SAR or dues account. Your club’s membership information can be updated in one of these ways: · Your club president or secretary can update the data in your local system. · Your club president or secretary can update the data through the Update Membership Data link in Member Access. · Your club secretary can fill out the Membership Data Form (PDF). Important note: Even if your club updates its membership information online, a copy of the completed and signed worksheet (PDF) must be submitted to RI Data Services by fax at 847-733-9340 or sent todata@rotary.org. The worksheet should indicate the club name, club number, officers’ names, and the number of members and subscriptions for the semiannual report period. This information is needed for RI to adjust your club’s semiannual dues balance and to satisfy the SAR submission requirement. Remember, to use Member Access, club presidents and secretaries will first need to register. For more information, visit the Rotary E-Learning Center. Consequences for nonpayment of club dues Clubs that have not paid their RI dues within six months of the due date will be terminated. Clubs will then have one year to fulfill the following reinstatement requirements: Within 90 days from the termination date, clubs must · Pay all outstanding financial obligations at the time of termination · Pay all semiannual dues that continue to accrue thereafter · Pay a $10 per member reinstatement fee · Submit updated membership lists for the two most recent periods Between 91 and 365 days after the termination date, clubs must · Pay all outstanding financial obligations at the time of termination · Pay all semiannual dues that continue to accrue thereafter · Pay a $10 per member reinstatement fee · Pay a $15 per member application fee · Complete and submit a reinstatement application and updated membership lists Reinstatement is not possible more than 365 days from the termination date. After that time, the club termination is permanent, and the club loses its name, history, and charter.
