HOUSE A

In the South of Spain, POLO Architects has interpreted the hacienda feeling in an almost lyrical way. A spacious villa was designed according to a playful concept of orientation and volumetry. “The house blends into the landscape almost invisibly" explains project architect David Bulckaen. The building lies with its back against the wind and makes an embracing movement around a central patio. The boundary between inside and outside is eliminated so the line dividing interior and exterior fades. On every level. From the location to the orientation, use of materials and lighting. With this project POLO Architects illustrates that architecture needs to embrace the environment it is built into. Pure detailing in combination with local, honest and robust use of materials results in a building where tradition and innovation come together.
