This great digital book is part of a much bigger project that the Expression department has decided to undertake on our dearest City of Buenos Aires. In this book you will find a wonderful compilation of articles written by senior 3 students about the neighbourhoods where they live. In these articles you will find the positive as well as the negative aspects of the place where the students live. The articles have been illustrated with maps and enriching pictures. In order to carry out this project, students have worked with a variety of resources, such as digital cameras, celular phones and different websites and applications. Among the websites used, we can mention Google Drive, Google Maps, Blogspot and Issuu. In the production of this book all senior 3 students have worked collaboratively online, following strict instructions. Students have prepared their work under a pen name so the challenge for you as a reader is to recognise some of the writers by his or her style. In order to help you most writers have included a brief biography, although you should be aware of the fact that some information provided may not be true to reality. Besides, we do apologise for any information which may not be accurate, and we do hope you enjoy reading this compilation as much as we have enjoyed writing, editing and publishing it. Any comment which may help us improve on our work will be most welcomed.

The editor.

Hello my name is frank and I am 15 years old. I live in Buenos Aires. My hobbies are playing football and hanging out with friends. I live with my mom during the week, and during the weekend, with my dad 1. San Cristobal More Than a Quarter

Welcome to San Cristobal, the neighborhood where I live, where I grew up. San Cristobal is a very nice neighborhood but it is a bit dangerous, the neighbours are very friendly and very funny people. It is full of pubs where some prices are very good and others very expensive. There are many avenues surrounding the neighbourhood and you can see many people with dogs in the streets.

Martin Fierro Park

Hello, I'm Seto, and I am 16 years old. My hobbies are writing, singing, drawing and most of all, playing video games. I live in Argentina with my mom, Amerine, and my cat, Kanon. I know it's an animal, but I see her as part of my family. 2. The Funky Streets of San Cristobal As you see in the title, my neighborhood is called San Cristobal. You can see a map of it here:

Since this neighborhood isn't safe at all, you have to take care when you're walking here, there are a lot of thieves outside. Don't use your phone while walking in the streets, they can spot you because of this. Also, the environment is contaminated and dirty, you can sometimes smell the thrash odor. The colours of this neighborhood aren't sparkling or something, just... raw and dark colours, common for me. Grey, black, white. You can see some colors because of the commercial papers or some of the billboards. Going to the good aspects of the neighborhood, we have buses. A lot of them, you can see bus stops everywhere. It's wonderful, because with them you can take any bus and go anywhere. We have some subway stations, too. In front of my house, there’s a park where some people go and run or play in the sand box. Another thing I like is that I can see so much of the neighborhood from my house's top roof, I have taken a photo, here, look!

*** Hello, my name is Catherine. I love pop and rock musi.. Also I love reading all the stories written by R.R. Martin and doing some sports. I moved to Argentina in the 2003 with all my family, so I have lived in this neighbourhood for eleven years. 3. Our Neighborhood is Our Home This is San Cristobal:

As you can see in the picture my neighbourhood is a beautiful and sunny place. There are not many people but it is dangerous in the night. In the rush hour the traffic is a nightmare, but during the day it is quiet. There are not many high buildings and supermarkets. I love this place due to my school and the church but after dark I am scared due to the thieves. This neighbourhood is dirty but it is ok for me. There are not a lot of things that I can say about this neighbourhood. If you want to see how San Cristobal is, here I leave a map with all the streets:

Hi, my name is Luciana Gonzalez. I am fifteen year old. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I live in San Cristobal with my sister, my mum and my grandmother I like pop and rock music. My hobbie is playing handball. 4. My Neighbourhood, my Place Neighbourhood San Cristobal

The San Cristobal church is very important, because Pope Francis gave a Mass here. Important cheffs come to San Cristobal to buy kitchen tools There are many pizza restaurants like La Posta and Domenica. This neighbourhood is very dirty and stressful. There are a lot of buses and underground trains but there are a lot traffic and it is very noisy. This neighbourhood has a square called Martin Fierro. On Sundays there are many children playing there, This is not very safe at night due to the great insecurity in the city. I show a map of the neighbourhood for a better location

*** Hi! My name is Pilar Di’ Marco. I am 16 years old. I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I love dancing and playing volleyball. I moved to San Cristóbal because my school is near my home. 5. My Beautiful Neighbourhood The church of San Cristóbal

San Crist贸bal is one of the 48 neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires. The streets are very quiet, but at night they are dangerous. There are many restaurants and buildings. There aren't many clothing shops, but some of them have cute things. This neighbourhood is boring for me. But it has good things, like the Martin Fierro square and it also has a very big hospital called Santa Luc铆a. If you want to have a better location here I show you a map of the neighbourhood

*** My name is Megan Mox. I am fifteen years old. I am in 3rd year at high school at San Cristóbal Institute. I practise taekwondo. I like playing the guitar and reading books. My dream is to travel around the world.

6.

Parque Patricios!

Welcome to Parque Patricios, Argentina, an inexpensive place with good people. Enjoy the beautiful parks that have basketball fields, green spaces and children’s games. Its most important church is San Antonio. Parque patricios is mainly recognized by its football team Club Atlético Huracán located in Caseros avenue. Its stadium is in Amancio Alcorta Street. By day it is a wonderful place, but by night it is dangerous as all other neighbourhoods. There is a subway line, which is very practical because many people go to work in the city centre. Also, there is an important hospital, the Garrahan where the principal patients are children. It is a very humble neighbourhood. It is not paradise, but it is pretty. Come on and visit us!

***

Hi! My name is Rita Ramos. I was born in Bueno Aires, Argentina in 1998. I live in San Cristóbal with my mum, my dad and my little sister. I'm fifteen years old. In my free time I like reading any book, listening to music or doing some sport. 7. My Neighborhood My House In this neighborhood there are a lot of buildings. Here you can take the bus or subway. If you're hungry you can go to ¨La Posta¨. They have the best pizza of this neighborhood! There are some schools and parks. Then, there is a beautiful and important church.

San Cristobal has a big park called Martín Fierro where hundreds of kids play every day. But San Cristobal has some negative aspects: at night there is crime and drunkards. The streets are packed and there are traffic jams. Subways and buses at the rush hour are a nightmare. It's boring and dirty. It is not paradise but it is ok. Here I show you a map of this neighborhood:

*** Hello, my name is Fiorella and I'm 15 years old. I live in Parque Patricios. I live with my mom, my dad, my sister and 2 pets. I love being with my friends even when I'm at school. I attend Institute San Cristobal dayly and am currently in 3rd year at high school. 8. My Beloved Neighborhood This is Parque Patricios:

In my neighborhood we can find several tall buildings as seen in the photo. This is the famous Torres de Matheu. On the right we can see a park with a bridge crossing across the street. In the park I spent some of the best moments of my childhood. When it is sunny, it is very cute. Many children play there after school and during the afternoon, but at night it is a bit dangerous because there is not much light and you never know who is out there. Crossing that bridge, there is a children's hospital called "Hospital Garrahan ", which is one of the most important hospitals in Latin America. Many people from other provinces must travel to Buenos Aires for the treatment of their babies here in the hospital because their provinces do not have what it takes for such treatment .The Garrahan also has a place where people who come from other provinces can stay. It is the "Casa Garrahan" and is just one block from the hospital. I like where I live. There is insecurity everywhere, but nothing ever happened at least to me. It is quiet and there is little noise. Not the best in the world, but it's where I like living and here is a map:

***

9. My Neighborhood, my Place in the World My neighbourhood has positive aspects, like the soccer fields and negative aspects. The negative side is that there are thieves and no bars. Some neighbours are angry and some neighbors take many buses. I like my neighborhood because it has many dogs, but I hate seeing some abandoned. I like seeing many people driving bicycles because it's healthy for life, but I hate seeing so much garbage in the streets. I don't like the constant noise due to the traffic. I like watching the kids playing in the Hospital Garrahan

*** My name is Victoria James. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am fourteen years old. I like playing handball. I am in 3rd year at high school, in San Cristobal. I like going to the cinema with my friends.

10. My Space, my Neighbourhood Welcome to Boedo. By day you go to bars or famous restaurants with your family and see tango shows. There are a lot of buses and subways. But it is dangerous and there is a lot of traffic. Many tourists come to Boedo because it s a touristic attraction. The people are very friendly. In the summer, people gather to celebrate carnival. People become very funny. There are many clothing shops, restaurants and pubs. It is home of San Lorenzo de Almagro football club. I love Boedo and I love living in this neighbourhood.

My neighborhood has positive and negative aspects. In the night it is dangerous in some places, but it is a beautiful neighborhood .There are no tourists and there are no shopping centres. The positive aspect are that there is not so much garbage in the streets and sidewalks are not broken .

*** My name is Samanta Lopez. I am fourteen years old. My favorite sport is volleyball. I live in Parque Patricios with my mum, my dad and my sister. I am in 3rd year at high school. 12. My neighbourhood in Parque Patricios This is Parque Patricios :

It is dangerous and there is a lot of traffic. There is so much crime. There are so many people. It is not clean since there are many cars. Map of Parque Patricios :

*** My name is Carla Gonzales. I am fourteen years old . I am from Buenos Aires. My neighbourhood is San Cristobal. My favourite sport is football. I live with my mum and my brother. 13. My neighbourhood is San Cristobal.

My neighbourhood is San Cristobal. What is positive is its church. It is beautiful and it has a school. There are many cookery shops. Mc Donald’s is a favourite place for everybody. There are a lot of means of transport, such as buses, underground and taxis. They connect you with all parts of the city. The negative aspect is there is crime, corruption and discrimination. There are traffic jams, and holes in the streets. I think there are too many high buildings (towers) which cover the sight from our flats and maybe the city is not prepared for such buildings. San Cristobal is not paradise on earth.

Hi! I’m Katherine. I am fifteen years old. I love art. I go to a school of art in the evening. This is my place in the world. I have a lot of dreams… mainly to be backpacking. I love dogs. I live in a flat, therefore, I can't have one. 14. Where I live San Cristóbal first came to prominence on June 28th 1869 when church authorities approved the building of San Cristóbal Church at 1251 Jujuy Avenue. It is more or less in the geographical center of the neighborhood. It also has a school with the name ''San Cristóbal'', where I go. San Cristóbal isn’t a touristic place, but it is nice. There aren’t many people, generally it is ‘’quiet’’, except on the peak hours. Ít has two subway stations, line E and H. But at the peak hours there’re so many people. It has too many buses, and the most important hospital for kids in the country ‘’Hospital Garrahan’’, with a big park.

15. The Wonders of my Neighbourhood

I live in San Cristobal. The people are good and gentle but there is crime, corruption and theft. Usually the park is beautiful and the church is perfect but it is dangerous.

The streets are packed. The traffic is a bit intense. All is very interesting and the most modern shopping mall is amazing. By night, I watch San Cristobal beautiful people but by car it is horrible. The cinema is dangerous but there are very interesting films.

*** My name is Kendo Kendoni. I am 15 years old. I live in Constitucion. I like playing football and swimming. My hobbies are hanging out with my friends, writing books, and collecting stamps

16. Constitución My Neighbourhood Welcome to Constitucion. It has a lot of means of transport but there are many thieves and this produces a dangerous neighbourhood. In this place there are many parks where you go and play football, volleyball, handball, tennis, etc. There aren’t shopping malls and there is a lot of traffic. The streets are packed and the subway has delays, for example I get late to school every day although I get up early to be punctual. This neighborhood isn't beautiful but if you get accustomed to the traffic you will like living here. There are supermarkets and many houses where you can buy if you want. Constitucion isn’t a pretty place but it is comfortable if you know the people.

Hello, I’m from Buenos Aires. I’m 16 years old. I have two siblings, my brother’s name is Lucas and my sister’s name is Isabella. They are so noisy sometimes, but it’s fine, I like my life. 17. The City of Today I have been living in San Cristobal since I was born, it’s a place with gentle people but it has a dark side, there are some very polluted places, and these places usually are where people steal other people’s objects and can even murder you for it. In the night these kinds of places can be a nightmare. The good side is during the day you can walk in parks. It’s very beautiful, we have so many different flowers. It’s very nice to go with your children or friends. Even the restaurants are very delicious, there are restaurants with different kinds of food.

It can be reached in 10 minutes from Plaza de Mayo. The Carnival in Boedo Avenue is one of the busiest in the City of Buenos Aires, with thousands of peple enjoying street musicians who roam along the artery between Independencia Avenue and San Juan Avenue.

21. San Cristobal, My Neighbourhood The positive aspect of my neighbourhood is the transportation because it is not so alienating, just in peak hours. It is a nice neighbourhood. It is quiet. There is not much noise, just in the rush hour, the restaurants are not so expensive and there is a beautiful church in my school. The negative aspect is the crime, in the night there are so many thieves. In the night it is dangerous. Some people are bad. The neighbourhood is not clean and there are drunkards. ***

22. My City Buenos Aires, My neighbourhood Balvanera My name is Aaron. I live in Buenos Aires. It is the capital city of Argentina. My city is very big, one of the biggest in the country. Many people live in my city because it is beautiful and because there are many things to do here. There are cinemas, theatres, shoppings, restaurants and many parks and green spaces. I really like my city, but it is a bit dangerous nowadays. There are many thieves and criminals and there is a lot of poverty too. Many people live in poor areas in the city. My neighbourhood is Balvanera. It is 4 blocks away from Once Station. The neighbourhood is not very pretty, but I like it. There are many buses and an underground station really near my house. What I don´t like is that I can´t go out alone at night because the neighbourhood is not safe then. Anyway, we will probably move to another house in Recoleta next year. That neighbourhood is safer, but it is more expensive too. Something else I like about my neighbourhood is that it is near my school too!

This is the shield of my neighbourhood

This is the shopping that everyone visits when they come to Argentina . It’s called Abasto Shopping Centre. *** Hi! My name is Dara and I live in San Cristobal neighborhood. I'm 16 years old and I live with my mom, my dad, and my brother. I have 3 pets, two cats and a dog. In my free time I listen to music and watch tv.

23. San Cristobal Neighbourhood I live in San cristobal. The positive side of this neighborhood is that it is illuminated and there are many beautiful houses and buildings. The negative side is the crime and there is a lo of traffic. It's a dangerous place and you can't walk in the street quietly. It is expensive and an ungly zone. There are a many drunkards and smooking people. It's a dirty zone and there is the smell of rubbish. There are lots of homeless people. It's terrible. There many beautiful parks to go with your family and it's a stressful place.
