ENHANCED CARD TECHNOLOGY EMV DEBIT & CREDIT CARDS ISSUED ORNL FCU is proud and excited to offer the much-anticipated EMV card (Europay, MasterCard®, and Visa®) to members. Where in use, EMV cards have led to significantly reduced card fraud because of the encrypted chip. The card is less vulnerable to fraud with its ability to authenticate card users, authorize and process transactions, as well as protect against counterfeit cards. As merchants across the U.S. update their payment terminals to process EMV transactions, your Credit Union is proactively issuing EMV cards to members ahead of the October 2015 liability shift. Your card will continue to include the magnetic strip for use at places not yet converted to EMV technology. If you are a current ORNL FCU cardholder, you will receive the new EMV card in the coming months. For more information or questions, please visit ornlfcu.com/borrow/credit-card or call 800.676.5328.
