Steps to a Sustainable Future

Mentoring Phase We realized 3 mentoring group meetings during these three months. The meetings were titled: “Motivation of our behavior,” “Overcoming fears,'' and “Magical world of Emotion''. These meetings helped to identify mentee’s fears, emotional life and motives behind their behaviors. According to mentors it had a 97% impact on the increase of further efficient work. There was a 72% participation rate, 100% of mentees said the meetings were important, 93% of topics helped mentees to discover themselves, and as a result of the meetings 69% of them had changes in their behavior. Individual Meetings Individual meetings are actively ongoing in Nor Luyce. We have 10 active mentor- mentee pairs, who had 63 individual meeting during these 3 months.As usual our meetings were diverse, unique and educational: visiting a museum, gallery, cake or food preparation, etc. Withe the help of mentors, mentees prepared and presented PPTs on a topic of their choice. That collaboration motivated the mentees and contributed to the formation of warmer and friendly relationships. As a result of the individual meetings 67% of the mentees became self-reliant, 55% mentees have changes in their behavior and 11% could overcome their fears. Skill Building Phase These 3 months were busy and productive for the mentees of our Skill Building Phase. During these 3 months, the mentees learned how to write scientific papers, presentation preparation, publicspeaking skills and had opportunities to practice newly acquired skills by writing essays and creating presentations for other beneficiaries. 80% estimated they learned the new skills. There was an overall rate of 89% attendance and the presentation’s effectiveness was rated at 100%.

Facultative meetings During these three months, Facultative phase mentees summed up their computer knowledge. After summarizing the skills mentees learned in the past few months, a computer literacy exam was organized to test their knowledge. Overall group meetings 4 overall group meetings were held during these 3 months. The meetings were entitled: “New Year,” “Success in my hands,” “Public speaking,'' and “Sexual Education and Hygiene''. We had about 85% attendance, with 100% interest in the presented topics, 87% gaining new knowledge of the topics, and 77% changing their perspectives on the matter. Meetings out of Nor Luyce Nor Luyce NGO joined the ‪#‪orangetheworld initiative, in the frame of which our senior mentors organized meetings for the beneficiaries of the Gyumri Football Academy and Depi Araj. The meetings were dedicated to the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery (December 2nd) and the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide (December 9). On this occasion, the organization also held a discussion on women's rights. Guests Speakers at Nor Luyce Nor Luyce continues hosting guests. During these 3 months psychologist Christine Baghdasaryan from Women Rights' Center, Artur Najaryan, the president of Youth Initiative Center NGO, and psychologist Elvira Meliksetyan from Women Resource Center NGO held meetings at Nor Luyce. They facilitated correspondingly "Psychological characteristics of teenagers,” “Public speaking,'' and “Sexual Education and Hygiene''.

Successes of our mentees During this period our mentees took part in different competitions and events. A highlight was when our mentee: Arpine Termenjan, won a Silver prize in the Adult Weightlifting Championship held in Yerevan and Naira Hamazaspyan won a Gold prize in the Fencing Championships devoted to 25th anniversary of Independence of Armenia . Congratulations dear mentees.

Nor Luyce attended an Expo held in Montreal Our friends Canadian Armenians represented Nor Luyce NGO in an NGO fair organized by the AGBU Montreal. Thank you Rita Boghokyan and Olga Markarian for spending time and wonderfully presenting our organization!

Three months full of donations Nor Luyce appreciates and values the contribution of each benefactor that helps ensure that we can continue helping our community and improving the efficiency of the organization.

The Real Miracle of New Year's Eve An Armenian family from Washington, with the support of "Nor Luyce" NGO, provided financial assistance to 10 socially vulnerable families, giving them the opportunity to fully celebrate the new-year holidays . Nor Luyce Mentoring Center for Youth NGO received a generous donation from American-Armenian benefactor, Herman Hintiryan. Thank you very much for your trust. Nor Luyce continues to realize its mission by providing not only mentoring and other educational meetings, but also providing scholarships and other necessary items. This time, Nor Luyce provided one mentee with a winter coat and boots.

Subject Classes Armenian Language classes are ongoing at Nor Luyce, preparing our mentees for university admission exams.
