ecognized for her fashion and film, Audrey Hepburn was an influential talent during Hollywood’s Golden Age. Born in Brussels, Belgium on May 4th 1929, Hepburn had a Dutch mother and English/Austrian father. Her parent divorced while Hepburn was young, and did not have the easiest childhood. Between relocating to London and attending private school and then to the Netherlands, Hepburn followed wherever her mother chose go. Believing they would be safe in Holland, Hepburn lived here with her mother during World War. However, Holland was invaded and Hepburn became depressed and malnourished during the Nazi occupation. Brighter days were to come after the liberation. Hepburn was accepted to a ballet school in London on a scholarship and soon after began her modeling career. Hepburn had an undeniable grace and a delicate frame which film producers took notice of. Being fluent in English, Dutch, Spanish, French and Italian, Hepburn developed a unique accent which was one of the many characteristics she was known for throughout her journey to becoming one of the most recognizable film stars. Hepburn’s first film was a bit part in European film Dutch in Seven Lessons (1948) and her first speaking roll was Young Wives’ Tale (1951).
