Un legame stretto e che ci riempie di orgoglio, quello tra Nastroflex e Matteo Montani, stella del firmamento artistico italiano contemporaneo. Già da alcuni anni seguiamo i lavori di questo straordinario artista romano, da quando abbiamo scoperto, con grande sorpresa anche nostra, che i prodotti abrasivi Nastroflex erano alla base delle sue creazioni artistiche. La tecnica pittorica di Montani vede l’utilizzo di colori a olio su supporti in carta abrasiva, ed è per noi motivo di vanto sapere che proprio le carte Nastroflex sono state da lui reputate le uniche in grado di dare alle sue opere il tratto distintivo in cui riesce a rispecchiarsi. «Gli antichi Greci avevano due modi di concepire il tempo: c’era il chronos, il tempo biologico che viviamo tutti i giorni, e poi c’era il kairos, il tempo dell’occasione, dell’incontro, della possibilità, quello che può cambiare la tua vita per sempre. Io so per certo di aver vissuto il mio kairos nel momento in cui incrociai un foglietto di carta abrasiva Nastroflex P800 in una ferramenta storica del centro di Roma tanti anni fa. Fu un’emozione difficile da descrivere, perché in quel foglietto pro-
One close tie that fills us with pride is between Nastroflex and Matteo Montani, a star in the contemporary Italian art scene. We have been following the work of this extraordinary Roman artist for some years, ever since we discovered with great surprise that our own Nastroflex abrasive products underpin his artistic creations. Montani’s pictorial technique involves the use of oil colours on abrasive paper supports, and we are very pleased that our own Nastroflex papers are reputed by the artist to be the only ones suitable to lend his works the very distinctive trait through which his talent finds expression. “The ancient Greeks conceived of time in two different ways: there was chronos, biological time that we experience every day, and then there was kairos, the time of opportunity, of encounter, of possibility, that can change your life forever. I know as a certainty to have lived my own kairos in the moment when I stumbled over a sheet of Nastroflex P800 abrasive paper in an old fashioned ironmonger’s shop in the centre of Rome, many years ago. It was an emotion that is difficult to describe, because I probably saw my future painted on that sheet without

Sono passati più di 25 anni da quel giorno, e per 25 anni ho coltivato il rapporto con questo supporto, che è diventato il campo di azione della mia pittura e che ogni volta non smette di regalare sorprese e aperture di orizzonti. Il fondo delle W01 in grana P800 è per me come uno spazio cosmico in continua espansione, dove nascono galassie, collassano stelle, dove il microcosmo dialoga con il macrocosmo e la natura si interfaccia con il sovrumano e lo spirituale.» Con all’attivo esposizioni a Roma, Milano, Bologna, Wuerzburg e New York, Montani è stato recentemente insignito del Premio Michetti 2018, giunto ormai alla sua 69esima edizione. La sua opera La luce domani (olio e bronzo su carta vetrata montata su canvas, di cm 140 x 140), si è aggiudicata il prestigioso riconoscimento della giuria tecnico scientifica e sarà ospitata nel Museo di Francavilla al Mare fino al 30 settembre 2018, nell’ambito della mostra Che arte fa oggi in Italia. It has become the field of action for my painting and on every occasion it never fails to bring new surprises and open up new horizons. For me a background of W01 in P800 grit is like a cosmic space in continuous expansion, where galaxies are born, stars collapse, where the microcosm meets the macrocosm and nature interfaces with the superhuman and spiritual.” Following successful exhibitions in Rome, Milan, Bologna, Wuerzburg, and New York, Montani was awarded the Michetti Prize in 2018, now in its 69th edition. His work La luce domani (oil and bronze on abrasive paper mounted on canvas, of 140 x 140 cm) was assigned this prestigious recognition by the panel of technical and scientific judges, and will be displayed in the Francavilla al Mare Museum until 30 September 2018, as part of the Che arte fa oggi in Italia exhibition.
